im just a beginner (16 years old) at bass but i know a hell of a lot of music theory so im okay there. since i have a lot of crap going on in my life (involved in tech office work, the plays we put on, a few clubs, tennis, working in our school tv station etc.) i dont practice that much. i do practice every day though. is it bad if i mostly just play what pops in my head and then learn new stuff for the last 7 minutes of me practicing?

@9winters5 not really, but i can relate. here's my advice, if you can practice for at least 15 minutes a day you should be good. I practice all my chord shapes with metronome-based backing tracks using the circle of 5ths in under 15 minutes in the morning before school, I do the same thing with all my scale shapes at night for another 15 minutes after work. since you have your theory down it should be a breeze to improv and come up with your own material on your down time. good luck :)

How to play heavy metal bass guitar clinic? WTF? There wasn't one musical or useful bit of information in this dumbass video. People should learn to appropriately title their videos. Besides, the whole money bit is just simply bullshit. Every musician on this planet whether offered $50 or $500 to play a gig would still take the money. I don't know ANY musician who has ever refused money. But the truth is, unless you are a big name, 95% of gigging musicians make very little to nothing.

ibanez can make some realy good versatile instrumentsv real cheap. i have an ibanez 5 string and its realy great for metal cuz it have a lot of low end and a MASSIVE treble great for solos. im never unheard when im on stage. jacksons real good too but dont touch fender for metal!! IT WILL KILL YOUR ENTIER BANDS SOUND! good for everything but METAL. Go with ibanez bro :)
