I hope so man. I truely want to do this, more than anything in my life right now.
I'm hoping that by next year I can afford to to it. On top of that, I still need to buy a car to attatch my hanglider to the roof when I decide to go hang glide. Is it possible to hire a hang glider on the site?
Jesus... the unexpected 360 was so dangerous. Maybe your trim speed is too low or your turning technic needs to be worked...Dont know..i am novice too... Please consult your instructors and let us known.
@javabart. Hi. A club is different from a school. There is no point in joining a club until you have passed the 2 courses at a school: 1. Elementry Pilot Course (5 days), 2. Club Pilot Course (4 days). 19 miles away is reasonably close and you might find they have flying sites even closer to your home. You just need to put up with travelling further to get through school.
The more you look into this the more questions you'll have. A good instructor will answer all your questions, but I also recommend joining the 'hangies.co.uk' forum. All the pilots on there are really friendly and always delighted to give advice.
Yes it is cold up there in the winter and even in the summer if you go high enough. But if you wrap up its no problem!
@javabart. You need about £1100 for the 2 courses, about £1000 for a glider, about £120 for a harness, about £45 for 3 month BHPA membership and about £80 for a helmet! It's not cheap - but definately the cheapest way to fly. This is what credit cards were invented for!
Best ask on hangies.co.uk for the best school to go to in your area. Avoid an aerotow school because it will restrict your experience of the sport. You want a good hill launch hang gliding school.
@Domzdream. Hi. I've only flown on the South Downs, not sure what closer sites there are to London. Can strongly recommend southdownshanggliding as a school. For a full list of schools and clubs go to the BHPA site. Also get advice on the hangies.co.uk forum. Also see the comments below, javabart was asking similar questions. Hope to see you in the sky soon!
Very well done Adam. What did JB say about your 360? Its early days yet and I can tell you I feel like I'm still on the edge of the nest more than a year after my CP. Good luck and fly safe.
You literally took about 5 or 6 steps before taking off. It's really amazing.

@Domzdream. You will borrow the schools gliders on your first course, but you need your own glider for the 2nd course.

I'm currently in the UK, London. Where is it best to go hanglide? Also, where are there nearest hangliding sites to London? Thanks.

Im 36 years old. This is the one thing I want to do in my lifetime before I hit 40. I lucid dream all the time- as in I fly in my dreams by will.
I've always wanted to fly and this is the free-est anyone can get. No engine. No noise. Just you, the wind and your wings.

@Domzdream. Same vivid dreams - took this up for exactly the same reasons!

@IANRPARKER Hi Ian. I think JB could see how much I scared myself so he didn't make a big deal of it. He just repeated mirageg4's advice
