The instructions in my plane (super cub park flyer) say to get about 10 ft. Off the ground where your going to land and cut the engine and take it from there
Nice plane, and great flight but if you could of got another circuit in a lost more speed to come in slower you could of got away with no damage. Any good flying and unlucky for the crash,

And 3D planes glide exceptionally well. With my Twist 3D the way I land it is to go up to about 100ft and run out of gas :) Really good landing practice as there are no go-arounds :)

@CrazyMonkeyLife no i had control but i lost power to the motor and this plane dose not fly slow and i was runing out of air speed and came in hard. i did fix it and fly it again till the motor did the same thing and i crashed it again, i do have a new one in a box waiting to be built . but ill use a big outrunner instead of the hacker b50xl12 inrunner i used here
these planes have a tendancy to tip stall at low speeds unless there is good headwind to keep things level, other than that you need to bring em in hot, they dont float very well, im guessing most of the people commenting have only flown fomies or light park flyers, these bigger balsa models dont fly anything like small planes, coulda been worse, that was pretty close to the camera lady, im guessing most of the panic was to avoid hitting people?, good job anyhow

Good video Randy. Too bad about the crash. Ever figure out the cause? Was it a solder joint between ESC and motor gone "cold"? That's often the cause for sputter sound. Or did the ESC die in mid-air? Seems you had control of the servos to glide in and you made a heroic effort not to land on a car or roof! Good job!

@traxxasmaxx33 thanks for the positive comment .i do have a new giles in the box waiting to be built. i have to say out of all my planes the giles 202 is one of the fastest landing planes. i mean you have to keep alot of speed when landing.
@randyneighbour I have a new Giles in a box too and had the CMPro Katana 140, same exact plane as the Giles. Here is the trick to perfect landing at a respectable speed without tip stalling. Set up the plane with flaperons. Once after I had about a dozen flights on the Katana 140 I used the flaperons for the first time and it was fantastic. My landings were at a nice speed and in about 1/3 the length as when not using them. Take offs were in about 30 feet with flaperons down.

First of all beautiful flight. i just started couple weeks ago on a mini super cub (cheap to repair ) and have just gotten a 4 min flight with a great landing. It seems like you brought that in with the engine on full blast, even though im newish to this, that seems bad. @gmccord1970 Well not too long ago (few months actually) a guy was killed when he was hit on the head with a .46 plane. Just one example. It just doesn't pay to take certain risks...
Sorry for the plane, but you were quite irresponsible in the first place for flying a rather large plane off a parking lot. That's why AMA has rules and sanctioned clubs and events. Could be way worse... like a windshield or someone's head.

@tgolledge i liked it so much i bought a new one after rebuilding this one 3 times. i will use a 2000watt out runner and the same 6 cell 4400mha lipo but a 120a esc i use a 70a esc here and a 1700watt hacker motor its a inrunner.
@randyneighbour mine came with a PJS 3000 Outrunner i'm new to electrics and it looks big and feels powerful but i dont know much/anything about them... have you heard of or used that motor?
@tgolledge i dont know that motor but im using a 50 by 65mm 400kv brushless motor with a 6cell lipo and 120a esc. this is more than i had in this video . i plan to spin a 16/8 prop did yours come witha prop and do you have lipos. i use a 6cell 4400mha but in my 55inch texan i onlu use 4cell lipo 5000mha after serching and looking at that motor it will just do . for wild performance i would recomend a bigger motor the pjs 3000 motor is made for big glidersnot really for planes like the giles 202

Thats a pain! The plane looked great with bags of power. Cant give a thumbs up as it crashed and cant give a thumbs down as it looked great and flew well for a while. Keep at it Randy!

First of all beautiful flight. i just started couple weeks ago on a mini super cub (cheap to repair ) and have just gotten a 4 min flight with a great landing. It seems like you brought that in with the engine on full blast, even though im newish to this, that seems bad. Also im upgrading to a 4 channel soon and im thinking of getting the Corsair F-CU, any good news bout that plane?

@skyhigh0311 Yes and descended to quickly, why not just glide it around, any of these planes can be glided easily with no motor power once the planes are balanced properly. You had much more time than you gave yourself and rushed it down for some unknown reason,

OK, but you proved that things can and do go wrong. Be on the safe side... fly in an open area. I've flown RC for over 35 years and I've seen BAD things happen. May God forbid it happens to you.

@gmccord1970 Well not too long ago (few months actually) a guy was killed when he was hit on the head with a .46 plane. Just one example. It just doesn't pay to take certain risks...

Sorry for the plane, but you were quite irresponsible in the first place for flying a rather large plane off a parking lot. That's why AMA has rules and sanctioned clubs and events. Could be way worse... like a windshield or someone's head.

@saito125 i have flown here for 6 years and if you look there is a huge feild there. i should have brought it down in the feild and not in the parking lot i agree. i do not lfy my big plane here but do fly 50 size here as the biggest.

that sucks sorry man! but you panic'd like crazy... you had plenty of speed to swing around real quick to let some of that speed bleed off... then ditch it in the feild... hopeya get it rebuilt soon! i just bought one and i hope its not quite as bad as the reviews say it is :-/

@tgolledge i liked it so much i bought a new one after rebuilding this one 3 times. i will use a 2000watt out runner and the same 6 cell 4400mha lipo but a 120a esc i use a 70a esc here and a 1700watt hacker motor its a inrunner.

@randyneighbour mine came with a PJS 3000 Outrunner i'm new to electrics and it looks big and feels powerful but i dont know much/anything about them... have you heard of or used that motor?

@tgolledge i dont know that motor but im using a 50 by 65mm 400kv brushless motor with a 6cell lipo and 120a esc. this is more than i had in this video . i plan to spin a 16/8 prop did yours come witha prop and do you have lipos. i use a 6cell 4400mha but in my 55inch texan i onlu use 4cell lipo 5000mha after serching and looking at that motor it will just do . for wild performance i would recomend a bigger motor the pjs 3000 motor is made for big glidersnot really for planes like the giles 202
