I keep coming back to this song. The words and the images are beautiful. I'm sure with paddy's genius he could make the music sound less plinky plonky and it would be amazing. I already think it's amazing but I was thinking about for general release for a larger market.
question is, waht came first the ideas or what they are shaped by, what came first all the things you are used du and find normal, find the only option, or the things that are "noremal" to you. if you belive 1 you are religious. if you belive 2. you are just a normal human
Oh dear. i was such a fan of Paddy, but this is sooo bad. Plinky plonk, I"'ve found God". In many ways this casts a shadow on the good work he has done. Honestly I am cringing.
@markthnark - I am a real fan and really didn't like this when i heard it first but i think his voice sounds amazing and the melodies are lovey as per but its the tinny music that lets it down, im sure paddy knows this himself as he held it back originally, i don't take it too seriously just listen to it after I've listened to all the fab songs!
To take Prefab Music at 1st degree can only be wrong of course.Had this LP been launched in the 80s it could have easily been rejected as cheesy despite the weird religious lyrics.Obviously releasing such an end of 80s commercial sound now is interesting and cannot be seen as a commercial cheesy move. The problem is unlike in many of his previous songs, the Irony here is clearly lacking and the melodies and tunes are even weaker than in "The gunman the story so far".Still like"God watch over you"
Paddy is a brilliant lyricist and a true musical artist in the long northern CELTIC sense and tradition of the word.I guess the Beatles,Shack,Jah Wobble belong to this tradition also.Actually Andromeda H did reach a level hardly attained in the 90s and certainly not since Steve Mc Queen.I still regard the Swoon album breakthrough as something utterly different and deeply moving. It was hard to predict then they would get so sweet and still retain an edge but THIS won't change the World for sure.
Oh. My. Word. This is fucking hideous. The most over-flamboyant and rigid steak of drivel EVER to be uploaded on youtube. The phoney American accent, the christian undertones, the sheer CHEESE! You can't possibly be into this crap can you.... Please.... Shut the fuck up!

So sad...a beautiful album ignored by the music industry, recorded in 1992, was released as new in 2009! Very sad. This album has a incredible BEAUTY...
Wow.same taste here.went to se It bites last week.Love Pendragon etc too. You MUST check them out.But the sprouts r wonderful.Bet u like Todd Rundgren too.
Well feel free to recommend one of Todd's best examples from here @ youtube and i'll give it a listen. I don't know why I like the bands that I do and can't get on with Frank Zappa or Bob Dylan or the Rolling Stones and i've probably tried Todd before and didn't quite get the spirit he was putting into his music. Whereas; with PAddy and Francis Dunnery and those other bands.....i can get into it.
Regarding Paddy: I've never understood this industry idea where you produce a album then you have to tour it. And because of that it has to remain within the constrains of being able to played live. I'll listen to CD's hundreds of times; never seen Prefab and probably will never get the chance, so for Paddy to be making albums, mixed and over dubbed and all that is all totally fine with me. Better to make the album as rich and interesting as possible.
@Johnny: i absolutley agree with your choices of both 'Yes' & 'Genesis', although both bands did great stuff in the 80s (90125 etc), i think the finest hour was "TRICK OF THE TAIL" (Genesis), "CLOSE TO THE EDGE/FRAGILE" (Yes). Queen had a good run through both decades, but 1976's "A DAY AT THE RACES" was for me, their finest album.
Gazzymodo: I digress from Paddy here but check out: 'It Bites Live Tokyo Old man and the Angel' here on Youtube. I'd be interested to see what an old Genesis/Yes fan makes of it as they were.....somewhere in the neighbourhood of both bands. I like how they flip from English to Latin mid stream! Let me know. Also, the Fashion Fabrique Album.
Yep. Agree. CLose to the Edge, Dark Side of moon, Trick of the Tail: if they'd remained in these styles i don't think punk would have happened. But, after these, they were just taking the micky..ie...'tales from topographic oceans' anyone?
Fashion-Fabrique, Pet Shop Boys, It Bites and now Francis Dunnery, Prefab, Brand X, Genesis, Gentle Giant, Yes. 'Bout it. Maybe the Prefab wannabes Deacon Blue. Oops-Greenslade. probably not your cup of tea.Check out Francis Dunnery's cover of 'Mobile Homes' by Japan. Jamaquoi can move molecules too.
The best uk bands to emerge during the 80s (in my opinion!) are: Prefab Sprout, New Musik, Korgis, Secret Affair, XTC, China Crisis, Housemartins, Records, all outstanding regarding great songs, production, performance etc.
The Bass. The Bass....the bass....is ...the bass....is.just.......absolutely....... mesmerising. I get lost in this. The words, the ideas, the beat, the bass. Beautiful. I love songs of love songs about the Lord. But the music in this is gorgeous. Cheers to Paddy & Co. wherever you may be.

Seemingly Sony did not reject the album but requested that there might be one or 2 too many songs on it and paddy misunderstood what they were looking for and started to rewrite it and it got lost from there. Its 17 years late but still lovely.
