  • Can someone please tell me if hamer is still building guitars, i havent seen a new one i years.

  • @Superthatdudeguy They still do, they're just much lower production these days. You really have to order through a dealer or from the factory - pretty much everything they do these days is to customer spec in one way or another.

  • love to have me the pro model w/ an ebony fretbd..these are choice gtrs very well made..

  • @kale77in thanks for the reply. i've lived in talladega for a few years, just wondered about the choice. that clears it up.

  • lol just noticed you said "if you haven't played a hamer, the talladega is a great place to start" do you realize this is hamers' most expensive guitar model $2500-$4000? i think one of their $500 xt models would be a much better place to start

  • I'm gonna get one and name it Dale Jr.

  • @mains711 I'm gonna get one and name it Ricky Bobby. :)

  • seems like a hear a p.o.g. being used. almost like a twelve string

  • @dixiewingnut -- Recent Hamer models are usually named after racetracks: Monaco, Newport, Talladega; their former lead designer raced cars in his spare time. Doesn't hurt that 'Talladega' sounds a bit like 'Telecaster' either; simply put, it's the ultimate semi-hollow Tele. I own one, and it's not for every kind of music (it doesn't do crunch, for instance), but for it's kind of sound -- clean, snappy, and either snarly or incredibly smooth when overdriven -- I can't imagine anything better.

  • Nice axe

  • It sounds to me like he is using a pog giving it a almost 12 string sound to it.

  • Really good demo. Nice enough guitar; Why is it named "Talladega"?

  • @dixiewingnut talladega is a city in alabama, also.. "nice enough guitar" is blasphemy, you are watching the single greatest sounding guitar EVAR!!! and you say "nice enough guitar"

  • I hate it when a reviewer just sucks the shit out of a guitar's ass, because that's not a review.. its an ass kissing..

  • @firstgearlead

You haven't played a Hamer then.

  • @Sn4pDr4gon

actually i have played a hamer, they're great guitars, i guess i was just complaining about the general way guitar world reviews all gear.. sure the Hamer is great, but not everything is as good as a Hamer.

  • @firstgearlead

Actually I hold the exact same sentiment. I actually only review guitars that I like...a great guitar just motivates me. I get where you are coming from though...it frustrates the hell out of me to see a review of a guitar that I know is sub par (not the one above) and it gets a "stellar" review. Sales are one thing...but sometimes they are just outright omitting certain things to sway opinion for a buck.

  • he said it has a curly maple top but it's flame maple....???

  • i skipped your video because of the ad.

  • It´s a mix of tele and les paul and i like it !!

  • the saddles look like the ones on the very early hamers.

  • im a huge acoustic geek so is this guitar recommended for me? if not what other brand? Need an answer ASAP

  • Comment removed

  • almost sounds like a tele!

  • On a clean channel, Hamers almost sound like acoustics - even their super strats . Pretty amazing.

  • you know, i've watched this review a LOT... and i have to say that this is really probably one of the best reviews on this guitar to date. i like how Paul chose to first play clean through all the settings so you can get an idea of what the guitar really sounds like. thanks for taking the time to do this!

  • @jlr022159 Basically what styles are this guitar most suited to? i despise metal so no prob but I like rock and I also play for a contemporary church.

    Any1 got any thoughts?

  • cool retro..

  • Don't let the internet dorks get to you. Nice presentation of the guitar.

  • Man you rocked on that Mixalydian mode Paul! WHOO!

  • English 101~ It's MixOlydian, not MixAlydian

  • @Chromatype Wouldn't that be Greek 101?

  • 'more punchier' is bad english. Just say 'punchier' or 'has more punch'

  • whats the difference between "parelell" and "series"?

  • In series, think of it as a train track going under a bunch of various train cars in a line, then looping around to the start. For parallel, the track still has an oval shape, but there are branch tracks going across the middle, and the cars are on these tracks. It splits up the loads over the signal.

  • Pretty sweet!

  • awsum guitar, awsum playing, i'm awsum, everything is awsum.

    Apart from you of course

  • It's spelled "awesome".

    Better luck next time champ.

  • ... That's not curly maple, that's flamed maple.

  • Flamed maple and curly maple are the same wood. Curly maple is just another name for flamed.

  • Yeah, I figured that out later :P.

  • All maples are the same wood (though there are different sub-species), "Flamed and "Curly" refers to the figure in the grain. You could also have "burled" and "birds eye" figures and others.

  • Hamer makes some really nice guitars. Pricey but built for life.

  • Really nice sound came of those duble d's

  • how he makes these riffs up i dont know, theyre brilliant!

  • well they are based on some standard patterns and scales so lets say that if someone knows a lot about theory he can make these riffs easily...

  • but then again most of western music is based on standard patterns and scales..

  • These riff are mostly just Minor pentatonic stuff. You don't need much theory to do that. Just crazy amount of licks.

  • very very true.

  • I wonder if the other guitars get jealous of those Double D's lmao. Guitar looks and sounds great, yet another on my want list :(

  • 5.00 - 6.00 sounded quite paul gilberty...

  • Telecaster+PRS SC=This

  • that headstock resembles takamine....

  • sounds great, but i still love my strat baby.... but she doesnt have double d's like this one.

    ey talladega call me

  • Double D's LOL.... ahhh I'm so immature :P

  • i thought the same thing. LOL

  • its nice but its way to expensive. saw it in guitar world

  • What is the normal middle configuration for a two pickup/three way toggle guitar? Is it normally parallel in the middle? Does the series addition make the two pickups humbucker-ish?

  • don't know about the normal middle humbucker wiring... but the 4-way wiring used here on the Tally is a fairly old Telecaster trick to expand the tonal possibilities a bit. sound great on the Talladega as well.

  • 5:00-5:30

    Mixolydian FTW

  • lol ya

  • good sounding guitar but also doesn't the Amplifier (depending on with one) being used have a lot to do with the sound of the guitar?

  • it sometimes depends on the amp and wat settings u hav on it

  • A very large amount to do with it. A crap guitar will sound pretty decent through a really nice amp.

  • mainly playing ;)

  • haha it sounded a bit like Fall To Pieces by Velvet Revolver

  • ibanez has a similar guitar thats called the arx-500 i think.

  • Well, i do enjoy a good pair of duble Ds.

  • WHAHHAAHAHA I was just thinking the same thing XD.

  • genius...

  • reminds me of a prs with a single cutaway

  • it looks absolutely nothing like a prs sc

  • I might by this, purely because the pick ups are called double Ds.

  • nice guitar :D
