@Superthatdudeguy They still do, they're just much lower production these days. You really have to order through a dealer or from the factory - pretty much everything they do these days is to customer spec in one way or another.
lol just noticed you said "if you haven't played a hamer, the talladega is a great place to start" do you realize this is hamers' most expensive guitar model $2500-$4000? i think one of their $500 xt models would be a much better place to start
@dixiewingnut -- Recent Hamer models are usually named after racetracks: Monaco, Newport, Talladega; their former lead designer raced cars in his spare time. Doesn't hurt that 'Talladega' sounds a bit like 'Telecaster' either; simply put, it's the ultimate semi-hollow Tele. I own one, and it's not for every kind of music (it doesn't do crunch, for instance), but for it's kind of sound -- clean, snappy, and either snarly or incredibly smooth when overdriven -- I can't imagine anything better.
@dixiewingnut talladega is a city in alabama, also.. "nice enough guitar" is blasphemy, you are watching the single greatest sounding guitar EVAR!!! and you say "nice enough guitar"
actually i have played a hamer, they're great guitars, i guess i was just complaining about the general way guitar world reviews all gear.. sure the Hamer is great, but not everything is as good as a Hamer.
Actually I hold the exact same sentiment. I actually only review guitars that I like...a great guitar just motivates me. I get where you are coming from though...it frustrates the hell out of me to see a review of a guitar that I know is sub par (not the one above) and it gets a "stellar" review. Sales are one thing...but sometimes they are just outright omitting certain things to sway opinion for a buck.
you know, i've watched this review a LOT... and i have to say that this is really probably one of the best reviews on this guitar to date. i like how Paul chose to first play clean through all the settings so you can get an idea of what the guitar really sounds like. thanks for taking the time to do this!
@jlr022159 Basically what styles are this guitar most suited to? i despise metal so no prob but I like rock and I also play for a contemporary church.
In series, think of it as a train track going under a bunch of various train cars in a line, then looping around to the start. For parallel, the track still has an oval shape, but there are branch tracks going across the middle, and the cars are on these tracks. It splits up the loads over the signal.
All maples are the same wood (though there are different sub-species), "Flamed and "Curly" refers to the figure in the grain. You could also have "burled" and "birds eye" figures and others.
What is the normal middle configuration for a two pickup/three way toggle guitar? Is it normally parallel in the middle? Does the series addition make the two pickups humbucker-ish?
don't know about the normal middle humbucker wiring... but the 4-way wiring used here on the Tally is a fairly old Telecaster trick to expand the tonal possibilities a bit. sound great on the Talladega as well.

On a clean channel, Hamers almost sound like acoustics - even their super strats . Pretty amazing.

Flamed maple and curly maple are the same wood. Curly maple is just another name for flamed.

how he makes these riffs up i dont know, theyre brilliant!
JMcDonnell91 2 years ago 3
well they are based on some standard patterns and scales so lets say that if someone knows a lot about theory he can make these riffs easily...
Cache069 2 years ago
but then again most of western music is based on standard patterns and scales..
JMcDonnell91 2 years ago
These riff are mostly just Minor pentatonic stuff. You don't need much theory to do that. Just crazy amount of licks.

good sounding guitar but also doesn't the Amplifier (depending on with one) being used have a lot to do with the sound of the guitar?
vampier886311 2 years ago
it sometimes depends on the amp and wat settings u hav on it
CP3Hornets30 2 years ago
A very large amount to do with it. A crap guitar will sound pretty decent through a really nice amp.
