I totally agree with you. I'm not sure if this has been your experience but I have met or read of comments by fans of Cuban or Columbian salsa that hate on LA and New York style, claiming that they aren't true forms of salsa. This irks me to no end. I think that is totally ignorant and childish. Great salsa doesn't have to come with a label and you simply can't deny beauty when you see it.
You know, it's sad because I've definitely heard lots and read lots of comments from people on both sides not liking another form. Just like some people who don't like On-2 salsa if they dance On-1 or visa versa. In my opinion, the true Salsa lovers are those that appreciate all forms of it, as it takes skill to dance all of them! I learned Salsa here in the states, and just went to Ecuador for two months and took some classes, and it's definitely a different technique, but fun!
