Honestly, by the end of the game the only two weapons you need are the air-ground missiles and the twin laser. Laser for ships and turrets, missiles for buildings. Everything else just kind of gets in the way.

I can still remember doing this level on Rookie the very first time so many years ago and coming out quite dead. Back then, I had to use the not-so-legal method of storing nine Phase Shields in order to pass. That's how bad I was at this level.

The nice thing about Tyrian 2000 is all the secrets in it. There are those Super Arcade modes, DESTRUCT, Super Tyrian, the SuperCarrot swap, the secret levels and so on.

The nice thing about Raptor is that it is very realistic, from the ship sprites right down to selling stuff. Training Mode really is a simulation, Rookie really is for rookies, Veteran is for more seasoned players, and Elite is for those people who have spent too much time playing it (which isn't a bad thing).

Wow, I remember playing this back in 95, when I was just a kid.

It was only shareware though, and I remember watching the demo videos for the Tango Sector where the pilot would just tear through enemy waves like paper because of those lasers.

It's cool to see how the game finally ends.

Same here. I used to envy the way the computer got through half of Tango Sector Wave 3 on Elite difficulty with only the Laser Turret and the Air/Ground Missile as its main weapons.

I've yet to try it out myself, but I think a video of me using the same loadout is coming very soon. All I need to do is get past Wave 2... :\

It helps to combine it with a laser turret for tricky targets and get all the 'always equipped' death toys.

In my opinion you are wearing too many weapons. Twin Laser and Odin are enougth.

I always use the computer's weapons - Twin Laser and Air/Ground Missiles. I've done the whole game with this combination twice before, so I know that it works for me.

In my opinion, once you get to Tango Sector and Outer Regions, it is best to use a two-gun loadout so that you don't have to spend time switching between weapons. Using my loadout as an example, I use the Air/Ground Missiles to blow up buildings, and the Twin Laser for everything else.

If you're trying to get both ground and air targets, the "thor" is your best option.

However I just like to stick with "odin" and CAL-10 "eclipse" twin laser.. I've never died while useing that combo with full phase shields.
