  • Wonderful album and memory from my youth !!

  • Ya at keil your concert would cost 5 to 8 bucks to see a band good old day

  • Love it!

  • Why o why o why did I lose this album. I forgot how great it was. Thank you so much for posting this.

  • where's the guitar? why would this be remixed in such a way that you can't hear the guitar?

  • SAW THEM LOADS IN THE 70S INCREDIBLE LIGHT SHOW . BY THE WAY THEY WERE ALL ENGLISH BUT RESIDED IN GERMANY

  • i have the original on vinyl. i saw so many great bands at keil for so little money. those were great times in america, that's when k-she would play 18 minute songs on the radio. never happen today.

  • i was a big fan because of K-SHE radio too.

  • KSHE was on top of bands like this.

  • I saw them 2x in concert a long time ago. They were great, reminds me I was young once 60 now

  • A great lp!

  • Throw back, for sure! Pretty cool!

  • OMG, this takes me back; skipping school on a snowy afternoon and spending the day in a friend's black light lit basement getting stoned out of our ghords listening to this record. For you youngin's; a 'record' was a the shiny black vinyl disk that spinned on a phonograph.

  • thank you for posting this song! i could not find it for months thought it was phil collins

  • Ugh...this is the bad mix that accidentally got released.

  • Nektar was an English band. However, the current keyboard player, Klaus Henatsch, and bass player, Peter Pichl, are German. They are touring the states August/September. Check their webpage for details.

  • LETS GET IT RIGHT, THEY WERE AN ENGLISH BAND WHO LIVED IN GERMANY OK SAW THEM A NUMBER OF TIMES IN FACT I HAVE A FILM OF THEM I TOOK AROUND 74/75 ONSUPER 8

  • einer der besten Liveacts, die ich je gesehen habe

  • fucking great record......period

  • Nice music! Thanks!

  • There was one English member of the band, Ron Howard the drummer. It is a German band. What is the deal with comments that are without any connection to accurate history from bands' eras or indiginous music? This pseudo Tube does sound like the L.A.er's that have no time or acoustic and flew a lot with accent on misheard accents.

  • German band? They were Britons who wound up in Hamburg looking for a gig. The band was Roye, Derek 'Mo' Moore, Alan 'Taff' Freeman and Ron Howden.

Off subject, Alan Freeman should be ashamed for cutting out the guitar in this mix.

  • @dharmaseed .....but their producer was a german............ peter hauke

  • This version sounds like it has been remastered. Organ and piano much stronger in the mix than before. Also has the highs boosted a bit. Liked the original mix better.

  • yeah yeah tripped to this in 79 or 80can't forget it seems so tame now but don't know who i'd be without this little nugget in the back of my mind.they say it takes a lifetime to understand the things you write when you are young. I confess I don't even know the name of the man that wrote this thing I love.I wonder what he makes of it now because it's something and then some last time I heard this I was nineteen now I'm 48

  • The remastered version sounds great on the iTunes samples

  • Glad I found this! Summer of '75, Memphis, Tenn. This was our anthem! Oh, and Starcastle was Americ'a answer to YES. Saw Starcastle once in concert, very good show. Think it was the Lady of the Lake tour.

  • Glad I found this! Summer of '75, Memphis, Tenn. This was our anthem!

  • Loved this from way back ...

  • The lyrics for this album are gay for brains cause they keep blowin' my mind.

  • remixed by the keyboard player????? Not the original as i remember it. Great band though......

  • I was going through what remains of my dad's old record collection last night, and found this record. I'm very glad I did.

  • great album

  • my older brother turned me on to Nektar way back when i just 6 or 7 yrs old!!! i love this album!!

  • I HAVE A SUPER 8 FILM OF NEKTAR CIRCA 74/75

  • Starcastle also fit the Yes, Nektar style at the time.

Glad to have been a part of the progressive rock scene in the 70's !!

  • Saw them in the late 70's at Morristown theatre, NJ Awesome!!!

  • yes this was the version that axed out Roye's guitar

  • I loved this band back in 74........now listening to it ...they were trying to be YES!!

Still some good tunes and memories....

  • this band RULED... a Freakin' shame Albrighton left just when they where taking off...so glad I can reconnect on U-tube!

  • This is the crap version where the keys are dominant. Listen to the amazing guitar-led version..

  • THIS IS SO AMAZING

why have i never heard of this before?!

  • I miss the wonderful melodic rhythm guitar work.

  • Great stuff from way back! I can remember when they used to play this stuff on WNEW FM in New York.

  • really great music love it ianno

  • Likes :) QC

  • this is the remastered version, which is not nearly as good as the original mix.

It lacks the guitar in this version.

  • @mgzd1322 The original vinyl is almost always better

  • @mgzd1322 wrong, the original CD issue used a rejected mix. This is the original CD. The remaster uses the correct mix.

  • Progressive Rock Lives Again-This is a "Taste" of the Progressive Rock the '70's. Anyone into this music-pass it on to someone younger than you, so we can keep the "torch" going-this is not the stuff you're going to hear on the radio-but remember why Sly Stone said at Woodstock, "If it was good in the past, it's still good" Amen to that.

  • I have this album in storage. Just the title was enough to get me . . .

  • Wow, phenomenal classic, Hearing this again reminded me of the scene in the movie Almost Famous when the kids sister leaves home and leaves all her albums behind and tells the kid to listen to Tommy with just a candle lit....it will change your life......I was fourteen at the time, I think this, and hearing Yes Starship Trooper for the first time pretty much solidified my musical taste and direction.....Wow....I'm sure I was listening to this with the blacklight on smokin the hippie lettece..

  • saw them at keil opera house st.louis

in 74. fantastic show. you could see three really

good bands for the price on one beer today.

  • @porgy I was there with you. What an awesome band at a point in my life.St.Louis was one of their biggest fanbases in the U.S. thanks to KSHE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a classic dears!

  • This is recorded from the quad mix. You can barely hear the guitar. Get the LP or the 2002 remaster. I have this version on the 1st released cd It needs to be tossed in the trash.

  • It´s from 73. I was born in 86 ... wow. Genius.

  • Whoooh my great uncle is the drummer, Ron Howard XD

  • A shame so less people know of this band....I came to know them through listening at Lastfm and I was utterly surprised. Very original sound!

  • This is great. I like the way it is progressive without having to have a lot of bombastic guitar solo's. Great chord sequences too.

  • i have found a long lost piece of my little heaven roy you were great

  • bdonald Scott and Steve you were part of my little heaven remember the Santa Monica Civic, Roy was one of the best, and we shared that little bit of heaven, Its bands like this that make me glad Iam me.

  • Saw 'em at the Roxy in Northhampton, PA in '7o something. Great show, still remember it. three video screens, great sound system...ah the good old days!

  • sounded so much better on my stereo back in the 70's and 80's haha

  • you mean an 'english' band... signed in germany.

  • can anyone upload the original mix where the guitar is louder in the mix

  • This Album is one of the coolest in the world. if you don't get their music, dose..

  • I don't remember the keyboards being so prominent in the mix - is this an alternate version?

  • Yes this is a remix. I have the original LP in very good condition I will try to post it.

  • If you have followed me from mgmt -kids, shiny toy guns- mjr tom, sniff'n the tears-driver's seat, captain beyond- sufficiently breathless. I am out of Crown Royal and have brought out the Petron Silver. My musical taste is as eclectic as is my taste for liquor. I have no lime. Life is so hard. Moving on to spirit- I've gotta line on you. It could get interesting in a little while.

  • @captainlockheed214 perfect my playlist

  • i loved them, saw them in concert in 1974

  • thank-you Steve maquin (sp) in Walla Walla for this Christmas gift exchange. He now or still owns Hot PooP. Dam its like well sooo many years ago.

  • The theme was a bit used, but I respect what they did. This was a favorite of someone I love dearly. It brings back a lot of memory for me.

  • Progressive Rock from 1973-how many musicians do I have out there that remember this-if you were into this, you must have also been into King Crimson, Yes, PFM-remember them-the Italian Prog Group, Shadowfax, Gentle Giant, Genesis-when Peter was still singing, Gryphon, & Jethro Tull-Passion Play.

  • hey, the startt here sounds a bit like YES ....

  • baru sekali ini denger nih band...seperti gue bilang...mereka mengusung mainstream prog-rock tp soudn nya rada Uriap Heep gitu ....

  • I Often bought albums simply based on the Art, this was one of them.

  • thats funny cause today i bought this album in a psych rock category and liked the artwork thats also why i bought the first captain beyond record what a good choice that was!

  • A friend and I started a cult based upon this album. Not even joking. The Bluebird became a deity in our little world. What was wrong with us?

  • @eastcoastguitardude Interesting comment - bluebird was the name of a mind control program in the late sixties. Steven Stills dad was involved. Butterflies and Bluebirds suggest attempts at mind control....many elements of rock are based on mental coercion systems,,,,

  • @eastcoastguitardude

Had a little cult of your own? Good for your friend and you! I mean, "good for you guys" for doing back then what came quite naturally to those of us raised on this kind of music. Of course, jumping forward across the decades, your question "what was wrong with us"? is perfectly reasonable.

The music itself still sounds quite good, doesn't it? It's survived our really intense liner note reading.

  • @eastcoastguitardude you are a pinhead.....so fukin funny. I took this out from the library when I was 12? or so....it bleu my little pea brain>>>> great music...I am now 52 and it is still nice to hear

  • in the book "search for the manchurian candidate" is described how the cia introduced lsd into the university scene from where it spread through the whole world. they did a fine job - without it musik like this would never have been crated...

  • Great!

  • I saw Nektar back in the 70's...and they opened up for Blue Oyster Cult back then...

Hard to decide which band sounded better...

    Twas a good show!

    Thanks for posting

  • Quite right. The Passport mix (US) and early Bellephon (Germany) are Nektar approved. In the 90s Bellephon released on CD a mix that the band (and fans) greatly detested- a complete abomination.

I'm not sure if they had the same problem with Tab.

This band had a great sound, one they truly could call their own.

Roye and Ron are still active- See Nektar and you won't be sorry.

  • Oh this music sends shivers down my spine. Saw them quite often in Germany, lots of shit was smoked at the Otto-Bernd-Halle in Germany, Darmstadt. You did not need to buy stuff on your own - there was enough smoke in the air.

  • Pick up their new live CD, "Fortyfied" celebrating Nektar's 40th Anniverary from the website, nektarsmusic. And listen to "Where Are You Now" from "Book of Days"...it's the finale to Remember the Future (also on "Fortyfied")

  • Okay then.

  • This post left out the last verse of the title song.

  • Dunno who remastered this for CD. See original album on PASSPORT records for original mix. Original mix is also on Thru the Years, a double album.

  • erm, uhm, ah when the frag did this mix happen? Where'd that keyboard come from? This is like desecrating a temple or something. Blasphemy! Evil doers! Away with your noodlings! Remember, the future is coming and the next generation needs the Bluebird's 'unchanging' message too! Seriously, if the guys did this themselves the thought of making it better for the fans is appreciated but you just can't mess with a classic. Even if it's your own! Axe this. Peace.

  • Oh, do shut up already!

  • Nice one :))

  • Back in the LP days, there were 2 different mixes of this album available. The same thing was true of their Tab in the Ocean LP. And the Horslips album Book of Invasions as well, the Irish folk prog classic.

  • ah, I did not know this. The small group of Nektar fans I knew 'back in the days' all had the same mix of both Remember and Tab. Were these different mixes possibly released in different countries so that the US only saw one of them?

  • My LP collection is in cartons, so I can't confirm easily. From memory then, the US LP Tab is *very* different from the German and British LPs. US is "sparser"/"leaner". Like the mix brought down a lot of detail to make a cleaner album more like normal rock. I personally always preferred the Euro version, but a friend (Bob) liked the US. A different take on the same material, but both valid.

  • With RTF, the differences are more subtle. I have the German Bellaphon LP; it's possible I never owned the US. Obviously therefore I must prefer the German! This matter gets discussed in detail out in cyberspace somewhere.

  • This brings back a LOOOOOT of memories and some of the best memories of my life. I'll never forget as long as I live, this was when people actually cared and wanted peace and love for everyone.. Thanks so much for sharing..

    Katy <3 xox

  • good stuff

  • only the hippest cats in High school liked this great album

  • Too bad no one has posted both sides w/ the newer remix ..I'm still listening to the record I got in 75..excellent work but like a Floyd album you need to here the whole thing..This remix does it no justice..

  • Haven't Heard this in DECADES...A LOVED ONE BOUGHT THIS FOR ME ON LP BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL. HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART.

  • @bigslick45 i was listening to it on 8 track til it broke....

  • This sounds like the original CD release which had the keyboards WAY up in the mix & the guitar way down, which is the opposite of the proper way it was originally released on vinyl. It has since been reissued on CD with the correct mix!

  • great album, although this mix does nothing to improve the oringinal release which is superior to this one

  • in my mind this album has the distinction of being one of the last of the great head trip albums, about 1973. its aptly titled in my mind. after 'wish you were here' came out in 1975 my high friends dispersed. and the golden age ended.

  • Nektar was a great band....it's too bad they didn't achieve the kind of success as, say, Yes did. The mix here is a bit weird, but a great track nonetheless.

  • Great album, but wrong mix

  • out of the 70s this comes back to me like a long lost friend .. we had it and ive looked long for it. gare

  • I can remember seeing their name on clubs around Frankfurt I think, although I never saw them. It sounds slightly like an electric "Mamas & Papas"!

  • John...check out George Lupine's channel below. He's got some stuff right up your street. Gentle giant etc

  • @Kegwithlegs You're joking, right? They sound like Yes.

  • You gotta be amazed if these guys have copyright police. Lol! Nice tune though!

  • New to me Tim...Sounds a bit 'Yes'ish...Nice.

    Jane : )

  • Haven't heard this band before...pretty darn good...

  • Excellent Prog!
