Thanks for the excellent video. I heard that putting coffee grinds directly into a bleeding wound will help to stop the bleeding. Have you ever heard of this method?
Very good video john I was glad you pointed out all the key points. If I may add if you would have to use a tourniquet place it as close as you can to the affected limb so If buy chance the limb does need amputate your not loosing the whole appendage. Also if you need to keep you arm elevated you can make a sling to keep it elevated and continue trying to extricate yourself.
Excellent information. I remember in the army they taught us to release a tourniquet every 15 minutes, obviously (thanks to your explanation) that is wrong.
Thanks for the comments....Oldschool..That is a good point, by checking capillary refill..you can determine whether blood flow (perfusion) is adequate to the distal extremity...Thanks for watching and commenting...Best regards.
Another good informative video. Very few people that I talk with know even basic first aid. One way to check if a pressure dressing is too tight is to blanch the nails beds of the injured limb. Simply pinch the nail beds and (they should which should be pink) and they should go from white when pinched to pink by at least the count of three.
I have not heard of that method, Though it wouldn;t surprise me if it worked..
however, I tend to shy away from putting anything on an open wound that might lead to infection...Thanks for wathcing
