FYI, if something is not Haram it is Halal. Halal just means allowed. There are six different levels of classification for actions:

Wajib, obligatory; also known as: fard, rukn

Mustahabb / Sunnah, recommended, also known as fadilah, mandub

Mubah, neither obligatory nor recommended (neutral)

Makruh, abominable (abstaining is recommended)

Haraam, prohibited (abstaining is obligatory)

Everything except Haram is Halal, including Makruh.

And seriously, people are worried about wedding rings? I think we have bigger problems. I don't believe in diamond wedding rings, personally, because most of the mines give money to bad people and I believe Israel also profits from the diamond trade. I don't see the problem with a simple metal band. Diamond rings kind of replaced the dowry in the West. They are an indication of the man's ability to provide for the wife, and we have the dowry for that.

P.S. This is a good video. I don't know why some thumbed it down. I'm sorry for the bajillion comments. People need to be careful with polygamy in general. Sometimes it's a real recipe for disaster, and this sounds like it might be a case. I hope she is careful with her planning. You're a good friend.

People thumbedit down because they either hate muslims or they have pushed their husbands into marrying another sister so they can get a break. Nothimg wrong with that, but be 100% honest why you would like that sister to marry your husband. Put everything out on the table so that the sister knows exactly what she is walking into. Most sisters its because they want to do other things and do not have enough time and need another sister to help out.

They have videos about how wedding rings are haram. I personally feel its just an attack on the western way of life. The sad part is that some muslims are going to believe this mess and try to spread the message to others before they do their own research. From what I have been looking at since last night, a wedding ring is not HARAM!so silly!

@salamsabee Asalamu alaikum sister, as far as i've heard, some people say its haraam or best to stay away from them because its a old christian-invented tradition in which the groom would take the ring and place it near the bride's thumb, then forefinger, then middle finger, saying ''in the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit'', and then finally placing it on the ring finger because the ring finger contains a vein which is directly connected to the heart, and they believe (cont.)

@salamsabee continued.... they believed that placing a ring over that vein will protect their marriage/love from harm...which is shirk because only Allah swt can do that. Also, because its a chrisrian tradition we are advised to stay away from it, to distinguish ourselves as muslims Insha'Allah. i hope this has been helpful Insha'Allah; if i made any mistakes, they were from my nafs or the shaitaan, and anything correct that i said is from Allah swt.
