  • "And risk everything you've won?" "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

  • THE EPIC MOVIE !!!!

  • this movie was so cool. "One land, one king, and one bad actor

  • soul eater....

  • Such a beautiful movie. One of my all-time favorites!

  • The guy who plays Merlin in this film is hilarious! He overacts so much...

  • @Samael78 He's a Shakespearean actor. I think it's a first class performance, it makes the film

  • @andrewstrawnz I still think that Uther is in the wrong - because when you think "enforcing the King's will" - usually it's political and economic co-operation, not giving another man your wife.

  • mental note men, don't encourage your wife to dance for other men. It just never works out.

  • One of best ever movie play actors, scenography and music, far beyond usual and computer made scenes that are regular latest commercial hits that on top by strange coincidence receiving Oscar and other film art award..

  • If only to live in a time and place where magic still existed....

"We are One, under the stars"

  • That's how men are... they fixate on women and must fuck them. I like how this movie depicts that...

  • The scenery in this movie was also amazing, locations and sets were fantastic. I also like how every weapon was drab and plain and Excalibur was polished like a mirror making it stand out. As a kid I wanted nothing more in life than to have a replica of that sword, you know someone somewhere has it.

  • @CanadaMan81 How funny! I was just looking for a replica of this sword myself minutes before I came here, watched this clip and read your comment. I've felt the same way about this movie too since I first saw it as a kid. Anyhow, I'm lookin' at a replica right now that lookz pretty close to what's shown here, only it says at the bottom "RETIRED," so I don't know if it's still available. The website is 'Generation 2' I think, under Excalibur Sword. :)

  • @CanadaMan81 I think I screwed up. The website is called "imperial co., inc." or imperialcoinc.om where they generation 2 medieval and fantasy swords, Sorry 'bout that. ;)

  • 2:27-Ah yes, the "I tap that ass everynight, bitch" look

  • 0:15 Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords is no basis for a system of government! Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses - not from some farcical aquatic fantasy! You can't expect to weild supreme executive power just because some watery tart threw a sword at you. I mean, if I went around saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

  • @dorsal08 i love python but can't stand the dorks like you who quote the holy grail movie ad naseum every chance they get

  • Gettin' down olde skoole, and no need to tip, neh?

  • And I still don't know how they made the green glow on Excalibur without lighting everything... AWESOME FILM!

  • Wow, I forgot that Gabriel Byrne played King Uther Pendragon!, now days he is Dr. Paul Weston on In Treatment

  • @stinkittodaman How much pain and death could be avoided if guys would just jack off a couple of times when they are about to do something dumb. Shakespeare sonnet 129 is probably the best expression of the lunacy that grips a dude chasing tail.

  • I have to say that Gabriel Byrne has not aged particularly well. Hardly recognize the old fart who stars in In Treatment.

  • F-ing with a full suit of plate armor on is positively ridiculous. Igrayne would have been crushed. I agree...there is something creepy about directing your own daughter in a violent rape scene. Is John Boorman senile ?

  • The stupid things men do to get some pussy.

  • Hide your wife from the horny King. UTHER gets the sword of power and He still stumbles as a KING. The Duke knew Uther liked to FUCK an FIGHT and never other than the two. Back then Armored battlelords ate without their Privates covered in case to relieve themselves whenever. DUKE made his wife IGRAYNE do some FUCK ME DANCES and KING UTHER couldn't help himself. Starting sweating an stood up Jackin off . Oh my!!

  • There's something very creepy about a guy directing a scene where his own daughter's character gets her dress ripped off and then violently effed.

BTW, Gorlais's castle is traditionally supposed to be Tintagel in Cornwall.

  • yeah for someone importants, wifes an dollars some fags would risk all there allies life for so dont blame the girls fag jegspillerpiano who ra whos the boss a baby

  • one voice one god

  • you know u already have lands from c to c now u took an gave back misery u jackass i hope your own familys awake as an join hearRa an trash you the future was stolen 1n 76 gage creed forever

  • 0:32 "Behoooooold....the swooord of POWER!!!!!" The intonation is just priceless!!!

  • @afterburner94 Yes, definitely. I love the way Merlin (or should I say the actor who portays Merlin) speakz. :)

  • Women - always the fucking cause of trouble.

  • @jegspillerpiano

Men-always blaming women for the problems THEY create.

In case you were too stupid to notice, the guy demanded his wife dance for Uther & co. She had no say in the matter. Men are like that...BOSSY.

  • Finally.. an upload of this movie which retinas the original powerful music and not some bollock-pop song overlay.

  • 4:18

"Have you found him?" "I HAVEN'T!!!"

    lol

  • ARE YOU MAD THE ALLIANCE haha badass

  • @rycor85 lol that guys great. Through the whole dance sequence his facial expression is priceless..as if he can see where this is going.

  • "Listen! Strange women lyin' in ponds distributin' swords is no basis for a system of government... etc. etc." Couldn't resist :P

  • @bennoach hehe.. very funny..

  • Wow, he always seemed familiar, but I never guessed it was Gabriel Byrne.

  • is that gabrial byrne with the sword?

  • Yes its Gabriel Byrne as Uther Pendragon, Arthurs father.

  • More proof still that women are IN FACT the source of all evil.

I mean yea, before Igrayne started gyrating her hips everywhere Uther and that other guy were getting along just fine. Admittedly it was mostly the other guys fault with the idea for the dancing in the first place, but he was drunk at the time...maybe BEER is the source of all evil...

Nah I'm sticking with the women theory.

  • nope.the source of all evil is man's sexual desire towards women.

  • @serMMAguy Now see that's just a chicken or the egg game there, and we can go back and forth all day about which came first...

Except your taking my interpretation seriously as opposed to how it was actually meant as a joke...I guess it wasn't that funny, made me laugh though.

And upon further thought women did come first...but that's bedsides the point...

    Great Movie!

  • But Cornwall was the one that ordered his wife to dance for them in the first place. Not her idea.

  • Plus look at how they were drinking and worked themselves up by hammering on the table in time to the music.

  • You're right- it is women.

  • i absolutely love this movie! all the exagurated acting, everything is shouted out, and Merlin fantastic ways of emphasizing some words, absolutely wonderful! its almost like a theathre act that happended to be filmed. and som many good one-liners from one single movie! me and my friend use them all the time. "u dont understand, your not a man!" "lets feast together, to my castle"... lol

  • "Merlin fantastic ways of emphasizing some words"

    +1!

Nicol Williams acting is just out of this world. Too bad he had retired when the Lord of The Rings were shot. He would have made an epic Gandalf.

Quotes from Merlin pops up in my head every now and then too, like "whenever a man lies, he murders some part of the world".

  • lol is he jacking off to her?

  • Pfft, lol.

  • Blabloo72; you wouldn't be referring to The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, would you? Admittedly, I did not know this off the top of my head (the internet can be a great tool!).

Mostly, my knowledge of English history focuses on the history of the British monarchy. No, I'm not a royal watcher per se but am VERY interested in the history of the British monarchy.

  • Ruth42: Excellent! So am I but my passion is the Dark Ages just after the Romans went home to defend Italy which left the way open for the Saxons and shortly the Vikings. If ever in England then go to York.

  • An excellent film! One of my all time favs. Can never be done this good again, so Hollywood better leave it alone and not do an Excalibur 2010 or something equally silly

  • 410CE, that would have been the sack of Rome (one of many, I might add) executed by Alaric the Goth.

  • 10 out of 10 - go directly to the top of the class! (I like people who know their history). Greetings from Britain. Here's a question for you - when was the first Viking attack on England and where did it take place?

  • This is a superb film. My only criticism is that the armour is about 1,000 years too modern. The King Arthur times were around the time the Romans were leaving Britain to defend Italy. The armour and helmets in this film look to be 15th or 16th century.

  • Yes, I see what you mean. Metalsmithing just wasn't that great back around the end of the 900s CE.

  • Thanks for that. The Romans left Britain in about 410AD because Italy was under attack from many different tribes. The emporer of the time pretty much left the Brits a letter saying, 'Our homeland is under attack so........... we're off - good luck!'. Then came the Saxons from North Germany and shortly after the Vikings from Denmark. Sorry to be the 'party pooper' but articulated plate armour was way modern. Still love the film though.

  • Closer to 500 anno domini.

  • It's a legend. It's only based on history. What is important are the themes and the symbolism. Ideals of chivalry, faith, loyality, love and betrayal. Watch the shitfest, that is "King Arthur". It attempts to be historic, but ultimately isn't even a bit more accurate then this movie and it misses the sword, the magician and the grail, which are the very heart and soul of this story.

  • Sorry to differ with you but 'King Arthur' DID actually exist. He was a tribal leader and also Roman but his fellow Romans left him to defend their 'motherland' (Italy). Think the sword in the stone stuff is a bit dubious though. I just think if you are watching a world war two film then the soldiers should not have flintlock muskets.

  • Gimme a break.

  • King Arthur was a British Celt who managed a federation of tribal interests, unifying ancient Britain. Camelot was his seat, and its existence is borne out by archaelogy. Whether he was aided by a

magic sword or a power mongering wizard is the stuff of legend.

  • @Blabloo72 The real arthur was atorius castor and he was the roman comander of the sarmatian knights and his grave is in ex jugoslavia

  • I always like to hear people's different viewpoints but the vast majority of historians say he was a Romanised Briton from the South West of England and was intelligent enough to know how to 'play' the Romans to get what he wanted. Have never heard of the Yugoslavian connection - will look into that.

  • It's a good thing that armor has an opening for peeing and copulating

  • They don't make movies like this anymore. Very intellectual.

  • the best film ever made for me

  • @Arilouu then watch: The adventures of Merlin.. An epic series!

  • i know that

  • Yeah, what a weirdo. Directing the scene in which his daughter gets it.

  • This movie is beyond awesome!! Great actors, great script, great sets, fx, action and above all music! Fantastic music!!

  • Music is from Wagner how could it failed?

  • Some of it is Carmina Burana by Carl Orff

  • I didn't recognize Gabriel Byrne here... He's so young: his first movie!!

  • Behooooould!

    Da sword of POWA!

  • Such a classic. I'd like to see the knighting of Arthur by Euryns (sp?). That's my favorite scene

  • Why does Uther say that Merlin is not a man and wouldn't understand?

  • Merlin mother was a woman and his father was an incubus. He was born with powers and the most famous one is his ability to see the future.

  • most still kept to some pagan practices but it was Gorlois's pride in showing off what he owned that was his undoing, if he had not "shown off his prized possesion, his wife" and gloated about her then this would never happened, but then we would not have a story.

  • I love this movie very much, but i can t understand, how a man wants, that his wife shall dance for other men. This is ridiculous, must be a christian habit or else, but for sure it is a dishonourably behaviour for a man and special for a "king".

  • A Man is a Man and decides all.

  • A Christian habit??? Are you silly?

  • are u silly ??? don t u know ur dark middleages ?

    naive chick.....

  • How could you call me like that? You do,'t even know me!!! And I love History, art and especially Middle Age! But I don't think that the duke's wife dancing for guests is a Christian habit, on the contrary!!!

  • There's your watery tart, your moistened bint.

    "What will you yield?"

    "Me, yield?"

"He has given. Now you must."

"I know! I can't hear a damn thing in this helmet. I am reading his lips trying to make out what he is saying!"

  • her dancing was not seductive at all

  • A real king would never break a valuable alliance for a woman. Uther was too impulsive and capricious to be a real king.

  • I would

  • We need Excalibur more then ever...

  • EternalLifeForYou what do you mean we need Excalibur more than ever?

  • To combat the evil all around...

  • EternalLifeForYou = IDIOT

  • How about STFU up, bloody wanker.

  • More, more, I wanna see the rest!!!!

  • Wonder how many wars were started just for the same reason. Ah, well, so it goes--

  • The Trojan War, perhaps?

  • holy god damn fuck talk about passion

  • Man, i cant blame uther for screwing the truce to have sex with Igrayne, she was a hot piece of ass.

I must have her too. ;p

  • I'll second that. Arthur has Merlin, he has Excalibur, now all he needs is some hot tits and ass to make everything perfect. Fuck that bitch ass knight in the castle. If he's not willing to give up Igrayne then he's not loyal anyway.

  • its his wife man wtf lol. uther ruined it all for lust but it was meant to be

  • It was Uther, Arthur's father.

  • Yea, nobody's stating a war for Kiera Knightley's flat ass. hehe

  • @1upp f u from ralphy

  • @1upp must be some good pussy, huh?

  • This is the only good version of King Arthur I have seen. The one with Kiera knightly (sp?) was total BS!

  • Great film. I saw this when I was six years old, and the opening scene was like branded to my mind. I've been a fan of knights ever since. And the environment of the film is worthy of Wagner's mighty music.

  • And where are the knights today? Nothing but freaks!

  • The knights today are our military personnel. That's where they went.

  • Love this movie. Got it on DVD. A must for any movie library.

One more note. No doubt kingdoms have fallen over lust.

  • Wonderful film, great soundtrack, the perfect actors for the roles, wow. 5 stars for the clip & favorited.

  • yeah same here. this is a really good film

  • great film, so many great scenes. I love the green light that follows the sword!!!
