  • That was very helpful, Thanks :)

  • Can anyone help? in the volume conotrol grid it says no envelope. How do i fix this?

  • thanks. :D

  • >video about audio

    >quiet as fuck

    yeah, no.

  • It's funny: when you use your computer keyboard as a piano keyboard and spell "SHIT" you get lavender town. Is there some connection?

  • lol u use fl studio too?

  • You know what rainbow dash says.... LOUDERRRRRRR

  • I have all of a sudden lost the ability in Milkytracker to play row by row with SHIFT SPACE. any ideas? thanks for the help.

  • @wyansas figured it out

  • i have a question that nobody seems to answer... what is the difference between a sample and an instrument????

  • @Chrissss698 I guess I would describe a sample as something that is made by hand in the waveform generator. An instrument would be something that you import, which may sound like a guitar or drum. Kind of like the words clip and magazine. They are different and have different meanings but as far as i'm concerned whichever one you use i'll know what you mean.

  • @Chrissss698 Simply. A sample builts the basic of an instrument. Like in a Piano. The Strings are the Samples and the resonace board is the Instrument. Tchnical the instrument lays an modulation over the sample. It is called ADSR (A)tack, (D)ecay, (S)ustain, (R)elease. and somtimes panning, too.

So I hope it helps for understanding.

  • @Chrissss698 Think of an instrument as a set of samples. Samples are recorded at a certain note and since "music trackers" change the frequency/pitch of the sound to reproduce a different note, some sample sounds do not "fit" well when played at higher (or lower) frequencies, that can be solved thanks to instruments. With them you can set different samples of the same "sound" but recorded in a different note to make that particular sample sound more natural.

  • I HAVE GONE DEAF!!!!!!!

  • you're my new favorite person x)

  • thank you for the vid!

  • turned meh headphones to 100 to hear you.. then tryed to test the sound.... :3 ears are happy..

but still you are very helpful.

  • Volume 100% *goes to next vid* AHHHHHH MY EARS ARE DYING!!!

  • i can't move the tabs after i hit forward. any idea why?

  • "Utterly helpless" barely describes the overwhelming feeling I got when opening up one of these programs for the first time. Finally thanks to an actual good tutorial compared to other shitty ones around here, hopefully i can move on from garageband.

  • Holy shit it's so low volume! I had to max out my sound card settings to even hear you!

  • Hi. Nice tutorial, although the volume on the video is very low.

  • PS... Using samples is not looked down upon, except maybe in the chiptune scene (?) Most old mods from the 90's used samples.

I saw you used Renoise for your newest tune.. You should checkout SDcompo sometime, it's a monthly tracking competition. Most people there use Renoise, including myself, but other trackers are allowed as well.

Peace & hope to see you at the compo sometime

  • Thanks a lot for this. just what i was looking for!

  • very helpful. I still have one problem, however. Whenever I record a melody with an instrument, The sound of the instrument will not diminish until the next note. For example, If I entered one note in the first space, the note resounds for the whole song. Any advice? I could really use the help.

  • @thechsradio My newest tutorial (where I talk about the volume envelope has a few solutions to your problem). The easy answer though would be in the volume section of the channel (the first five dots being the note/octave/instrument, the sixth and seventh being volume, and the last three being effects) you can change the volume to 00, or hold down the minus key for a fadeout.

  • @wallh4cks I came here pretty much exclusively to find out how to fix the sound not fading out. Thanks dood, I love you<3

  • press CAPSLOCK below the note, it will pause the note

  • @thechsradio You've probably worked it out by now but just press caps lock after the note.

  • Thanks for the Help, i love this Tracker Songs

  • Thank you so much ! this tutorial was the best help i could find!

  • You have no idea how much that helped me. Thanks : )

  • it might be helpful but this video is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO QUIET.... i gota go find my earphones

  • @awatemonosan Tried it...still doesnt work >:(

  • Hi, I have a simple question about MilkyTracker that I can't seem to find the answer to. When I go to draw in the sample editor, the wave sort of snaps into place and I can't make small adjustments to it. Is there an option somewhere to disable this? I feel like I've searched everywhere.

  • @marcusAbraham88 It sounds to me like the sample isnt long enough. When you make a sample, try making the sample size around 500. It should let you be more flexible when trying to make small adjustments.

  • Soooo helpful.

  • This was extremely informative. Thanks a lot. But next time, make sure your voice is audible. I turned my headset ALL the way up and could barely hear you.

But none the less, thanks a lot.

  • This deserves so many more views than this. Thank you for clearing up this mess of a GUI.

  • Great tutorial. I just started with MilkyTracker today and you've definitely put together the best tutorial I've seen on it. Thanks.
