Awesome job, man. The "blood groove" thing is called a "fuller". There's a myth about it letting air into a wound so that you can pull the blade out against the suction once you've stabbed something, but actually it makes the blade stronger and more rigid without making it any heavier. A smaller blade can be stronger with a fuller.
