  • bit of a random question but does anyone know if bench presses work your triceps at all? I want to learn sum techniques of building my triceps

  • Yes it does, not focusing on them but it def. does.

    Pull downs and dips and such are your best bet on buildin tricepts.

  • dips yes ... Pull downs don't work triceps. Triceps are a group of muscles for "pushing." Anything involving the word "pull" is not going to incorporate these muscles. they will barely be used; only to stabilize the movement.

  • Words don't work muscles. Movements do. If the movement is correct the muscle is worked. The exercise referred to is called either a "triceps pushdown" or a "triceps pushdown." The latter term may be more correct, but they refer to the same movement that works the triceps -- different parts of the triceps depending on the grip and angle.

  • you can't put pressure on different parts of the tricep muscle by changing grips, that only work with the bicep. if you turn your foreman you notice that the bicep change position while the tricep remains the same.

  • yea u can if doin pulldowns wit a close grip you work the inner tri...if done with an open or wide grip it will work the outer tri...try it sometime and see for urself...

  • ... when I hear pull-downs, I think of lat pull-downs. I see where you're coming from now lol.

  • yes tris bis and chest but if you want more for your triceps do close handed bench thats where you pt your pinky finger where your thumb would usually be remember to keep elbows close to your side when your going up. All though personally i would go with dips for triceps, best imo.

  • Yes, do them with the hands closer together. Also, do dips (after carefully warming up the shoulders) with your head looking forward, not down at all. Do the pulldowns with ropes and bar with different handgrips. Do pushups. Good to see someone interested in triceps: they are the foundation of biceps!
