The "old masters" usually tuned their pianos themselves. But early pianos did not hold a tuning very well, and tuning itself was at best imprecise.
There's special beauty in both perfectly tuned and imperfectly tuned pianos. Imperfectly tuned pianos, like singers, seems to "sing" more personally than "scientifically" tuned pianos.
I try to keep my 7' Yamaha grand in perfect tune, but allow my vintage Sohmer grand to slip, resulting in a more personal sound.
A beautiful and sensitive interpretation. Chopin would be proud of you! This sweet piano has tonal properties resembling Chopin's own Pleyel, unlike modern concert grands. Hats off!

You have done the same as me, I left a gap and then went back to playing and having lessons when I was 50.
You play very well, I like your choice of composers as well, some of my favorites. If only I could play them all!
