i have the same camera and i just ordered this lens i cant wait till it arrives do u think it was worth the price and also does it go well with the sony a230?
@will98fb Actually this lens itself is pretty good. I use it mainly for portraits, because of the large aperture which is perfect for portraits. And it doesn't matter what camera you're using, the important thing is the lens and you... lol
I've heard that the F1.4 lens is really really noisy. Is the F1.8 pretty loud? If it has SSM or the other motor in the lens (forgetting the term) then it should be pretty quiet. By the way, epic pwnage on the guy telling you that you had too much text. I chuckled.

Just comparing the two lenses (which I have done), the 50mm blows the 75-300 out of the water in every aspect. The only reason you would get the telephoto is if, well, you NEED a telephoto. Even then I'd say save your money for a 70-200 2.8 or the 70-300 G lens.
it depends what you need it for,i have the 75-300mm and i love it...but i am planning on getting this one next cause of its large f 1.8 and i really need that for low light conditions.
