@theschmidy there are special precautions that need to be taken for highly flamable or volatile substances, they must also be shipped in a specially marked truck. if you have ever noticed the diamond shaped metal fittings on the side of truck trailers, they are designed to hold a sign that has red blue yellow and white diamonds describing the nature of the material they are transporting.

that's funny about being "different"... one of the main reasons I took up pipe smoking is so I can schmooze on "smoke breaks" with other smokers but not be looked down upon by most non-smokers. Especially in academia... I'll stock up on tweed jackets and good tobacco, a couple bowls a day is better for you than it is bad for you (I love when statistics work in my favor!) so why not?

I think pipe smoking is the "healthiest" way of smoking tobacco. You don't inhale it like cigarettes, you don't touch it with your mouth like cigs and cigars, and you smoke a very little amount. I used to smoke cigs, and I still have a cigar once in a while. But smoking a pipe is the only thing that doesn't make me feel dirty smoking.
Yes, this is very true. I've known smoking parlors that don't allow cigarettes to be smoked there. They will literally tell them, "I'm sorry, no, you need to leave, this is a fine gentleman's smoking parlor and what you have in your mouth (a cigarette) is trash." Pipe and cigars are much different than cigarettes and pipes are by far the most dignified of the three groups, I think.
Depends on what kind for me. There definitely are some that taste horrible. But the kind that are smooth the whole way to the point your burning your fingers on the ash, those are the best.
Never get those kind at a convenient store...like phisher sweets ugh!

Yeh, been smoking pipes for about six months. It relaxes me and reminds me of my childhood. I only smoke one bowl per day, after work. The pipe smokers that I have encounted have all been fairly easy going types, to say nothing of interesting. We seem to lean towards being eccentric, which is ok. Smoke on.

Haha, ok well kudos to you for tryin' to quit bro. You can probably find a tobacco that reminds you of weed, just search google for it. Otherwise you can just smoke herbs like bearberry, white sage, lavender, and stuff like that. I tried the herbs once but I didn't like the flavor as much as I like my pipe tobaccos. Few unicycle riders in my school and college not so unique over here, but dont see that many around i suppose! Don't know a single pipe smoker in my area! I play ukulele which is very different here, although common in a lot of other countries. Im quite different with my mix of hobbies, Ukulele, Snooker, Scuba Diving and Amateur radio, strange mix! I'm also a mathematician, will be studying it at uni next year. No others like me!

Sorry, here in England uni is just short for university, its different to USA though, can finish school at 16 (now its 17 actually, but thats from now on) then you can choose to get a job or whatever or go to a college, which is 2 years, so finish when you're 18, then you can go do a degree at university.
To me, pipe smoking is like ice cream. Sometimes I just want ice cream. Pipe smoking offers a lot of variety, in the shapes of pipes, quality of briar etc. Then there are the large varieties of tobaccos from the flavored to the english styles. Whenever I smoke a pipe at a party, etc, I do like the fact I stand out and no one comments on it except to say, wow cool. Smells great. To me the art of how pipes are made and how each one smokes different makes it unique. Be unique. What a great motto.
Yes, it is a great motto. And pipe smoking is such an endless hobby, there's an endless combination of pipes and finishes and tobaccos and it's just a ton of fun to collect. Also, something that I left out, but totally love about it, is the community. You guys make pipe smoking what it is.
In your case, I'd say the hat makes you different from others, too. And with that pipe, you really look like a happy Hobbit. Very distinguished! :-)
As for things that make me different: I'm doing that right here on YouTube. Most people try to get as many views, comments and subscribers as possible, but I try to watch, comment on and subscribe to as many videos as I can.
Still, your question did make me think about "real life" and I'm gonna give your advice some more thought.

Is the fact that I analyze EVERYTHING make me unique? haha Other than that the only thing I can really think of is that I play the piano. I guess for me, it's not really one thing that makes me unique. It's a bunch of little things combined. :)

Oh there's much more than that! How about the fact that you read in your sleep (I'm pretty sure that you've had dreams in which you read the whole time, haha). And the fact that when you laugh everyone laughs too (either with you or at you, I'm not sure which, haha). But yeah, you're an awesome listener and adviser, and an even better friend. You are very unique, not many people have such a following of friends :)

Few unicycle riders in my school and college not so unique over here, but dont see that many around i suppose! Don't know a single pipe smoker in my area! I play ukulele which is very different here, although common in a lot of other countries. Im quite different with my mix of hobbies, Ukulele, Snooker, Scuba Diving and Amateur radio, strange mix! I'm also a mathematician, will be studying it at uni next year. No others like me!

Sorry, here in England uni is just short for university, its different to USA though, can finish school at 16 (now its 17 actually, but thats from now on) then you can choose to get a job or whatever or go to a college, which is 2 years, so finish when you're 18, then you can go do a degree at university.

Haha, yup I picked up unicycling when I was about 12 or 13, and loved it ever since, just because it's so unique.

To me, pipe smoking is like ice cream. Sometimes I just want ice cream. Pipe smoking offers a lot of variety, in the shapes of pipes, quality of briar etc. Then there are the large varieties of tobaccos from the flavored to the english styles. Whenever I smoke a pipe at a party, etc, I do like the fact I stand out and no one comments on it except to say, wow cool. Smells great. To me the art of how pipes are made and how each one smokes different makes it unique. Be unique. What a great motto.

Yes, it is a great motto. And pipe smoking is such an endless hobby, there's an endless combination of pipes and finishes and tobaccos and it's just a ton of fun to collect. Also, something that I left out, but totally love about it, is the community. You guys make pipe smoking what it is.

In your case, I'd say the hat makes you different from others, too. And with that pipe, you really look like a happy Hobbit. Very distinguished! :-)
As for things that make me different: I'm doing that right here on YouTube. Most people try to get as many views, comments and subscribers as possible, but I try to watch, comment on and subscribe to as many videos as I can.
Still, your question did make me think about "real life" and I'm gonna give your advice some more thought.
