Dr Jones is there to make sure she get the virus sample and make sure the virus spread, if the virus don't spreads..there will be a time paradox, Cole's mission was never about changing the future, the future can't be changed..
I always wonder what happens to Kathryn Railly at the end. I always wonder why she didn't or couldn't raise the alarm about the virus at the end or how long she survived until the virus killed her. It's a shame. I guess I could ask the same about the other characters too.
This movie is real masterpiece. Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt, Madeleine Stowe did a great job.Twelve Monkeys is one of most underrated Sci-Fi films of the 90's - along with FutureSport, The Time Shifters, Virtuosity, Tha Lawnmower Man, Alien 3, Space Truckers, Strange Days, The Arrival, Mimic, The Apocalypse (1997), Virus, RoboCop 2, Them, Body Snatchers, eXistenZ, Sphere, Judge Dredd, Demolition Man, Anaconda, The Relic, The Shadow Men, The 13th Floor, Dark City etc
I hate you dumbasses who superimpose your own music on movies. The original music was incredibly moving and appropriate but instead of posting that, you had to f#$% it up with this shitsucking noise!
i was very confused at the end... not confused by whole scene.. But the end of love..when cole was killed.. i saw in that kid hope...or light to change it... its like u never stop dreaming however u cant change faith... Iam mean that's the point... Cole was on mission save the world... but not world of polution,crime,agression.... But life of Love... and people killed that love..because we all made mistakes..and we act as we are GODS. iam sad of this ending... becuase i saw there myself.
I think the woman scientist is at least an equal hero to Cole if not greater. She willingly take the risk to die by exposing herself to the virus. She shakes the hand to the man anybody would like to strangle...To be sure she gets the pure germ. And she can't kill him, she wished she could, but she cannot, because if would change the whole future. They can't travel in time if there is not 5B people who dies... She also knows Cole has just been shot...she can't cry, but she liked him...
@Methecookie3456 first of all those people were ignorant fucking morons
and by the way all attention went to cole with his gun and people mostly can't think clearly in those situations so even if they know within they should look at the man running... they don't
and it was probably easier to shoot cole and point their eyes and guns to a shot man and brag about it
what a fucking ending¡ I cried the first time I saw it, jej, great movie, and a great ending¡¡¡¡ I think that the psychiatrist knew that the kid was James, what a touching end¡
could the lady have gone back a little further in time and take out dr.goinnes' assistant before it was too late. that could happen, but that would mean there would be no lady in the future to come back in to the past and take him out because aince he would be dead there won't any motive for the lady to go back in time by building a time machine.get it?
the time machine agrees with this, but now........i'm not sure about what happened in harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban.....help me!
Well in some people "dreams".... Its just a little more stronger than a normal influenza so it can only kill old and very young persons or ppl who have already a low immune defense.
Thought you wouldn't die on the decease, it would feel like hell.
I got something to all ppl talkin about DR JONES going back in 1996 to take a SAMPLE of the virus by SHAKING HANDS with Dr PETERS :
How can someone , except James COLE, Pr.RAILLY, & Dr PETERS, KNOW that the source of contamination WAS Dr. PETERS ??? No one could know that in the future...there is no tracks....COLE dies after forcing a police stop in airport, PERIOD....Dr PETERS is never mentioned, nowhere, no tracks of him or his contamination projects...
@MenosGrande87 Don't worry, he was there again as a child, he will grow and come back :) oh and die again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :( and again :(
@MenosGrande87 si existio ase m,ucho tiempo solo que regreso asu epoca por que nadie le creyo se imaginan que se hubiese confirmado que si era del futuro:D
Generally, I like what you did here, but you missed her smile at the end. That's so important. It is moment she "acknowledges" him as a boy, not just the moment she "sees" him. It is the Mona Lisa smile, not just the glance, that will stay with him as he grows up. Oh well, still nice to see this scene again.
The same as The Terminator. The equivalent of Cole's recurrent vision from his childhood is Reese's photograph, which we see taken at the end, proving there is a single timeline, with a loop. (T2 broke its own rules by suggesting the future could be changed.)
Yall should check out my metal version of 12 Monkeys. Meant to be cheesy...if you have a sense of humor you will laugh. As for what yall are talking about...I think that Cole is in a constant loop...but each time I think the future keeps getting the information from when Cole goes in the past...so each time this happens...the people in the future get closer and closer to eliminating the virus. im having trouble explaining this in words, but put what im saying together and youll get the idea.
No, it all happens only once. A - Cole is born, B - his older self "enters" the past, C - he sees the death of his older self, D - armageddon, E - Cole is sent to the past.
This is how it happens for everyone else. But for Cole, who actually travels in time, it all looks like A - C - D - E - B - C. No loop, total predictability.
Cole dies, and the future humanity is presumably saved by the woman scientist that gets infected with the virus at the end of the movie and thus carries its sample.
@strashiLO your wrong there mate. if all they needed was sopmeone infected they could of sent anyone to the time there after. she means by insurance that everything would go asplanned. she either worked with that man to destroy the world. for thier gain and profit that i presume from the lack of chance those two would have those seats and there greeting is fake. they needed to get cole to find all the marker they set up. i.e the 12 monkey signs these where to keep cole on his track of set path
The silver lining might be the part on the plane before the very end. It doesn't show it here, which sucks, but the woman that the guy who has the virus sits next to is one of the people that sent Bruce back in time. Her last line when she greets the guy is, "I'm in insurance."
So while it doesn't necessarily end well for Bruce, he might've accomplished his mission. Finding the cause of the strain, and letting his people know about it.
a very depressing movie. it's very possible that cole is stuck in a constant loop, so then you begin to think that maybe every scene in the film could have already happened a billion times or more. so i can't see any silver lining to this movie, except for the possibility that cole could in fact be mentally ill, and that any proof that there is a virus, is only in his imagination, and what we see on screen is just cole's warped interpretation of what isn't happening.
Johnyeyebrows...you say it only happens once..then why does Bruce get shot twice in the film, once as a boy when he watches his older self get shot, then again when grows up.
It's not something that happens once - but something that is a cycle. Boy sees his future self get shot, grows up, gets shot watched by a boy seeing his future self get shot etc. etc.
I can never understand why people get so confused over this. It's not something that happens over and over- it just happens once. The boy sees a man get shot and killed. The boy grows up, goes back in time, and turns out to be the man who got shot and killed. That's it.
i was confused when i watched it too for the first couple of times, but my mum explained that at the end on the plane the scientist(woman) sitting next to the bad dude hopefully ends up taking him out cus bruce got the message to them in the future that it were'nt the 12 monkeys which saves the humans
No dude, she *does* take him out. They tell everyone they can't change the future because they don't want people screwing things up further ruining the only chance they have. I'll grant you it's open to interpretation.
i just saw the movie.. but im not sure if i understand it.. my point of view is this.. the little kid is bruce himself.. so this is like an neverending story.. cause he will try it again in future?? plz explain cause im not sure
well yeah u got it in a nutshell, when he was a kid, he saw himself being killed. u cnt think of it in terms of it being a cycle, u have to think of it in terms of them being the same person
you have the right idea, but it's not a never ending cycle in the sense that the scientists keep changing the mission every time they fail.
So if Cole lived and they sent him back again, he wouldn't necessarily have to be in the airport at that moment in time again...
or maybe he WOULD be at the airport, he would see himself get shot, AND he would see himself as a kid. Because every time he travels back to that place in time he just juxtaposes himself into the scene.
you're thinking of a never ending cycle, but it doesn't necessarily have to occur again unless he goes back again. What if he went back a third time? at the airport, same time; he would see himself get shot, see himself as a kid, and have juxtaposed himself into the scene a third time.
yes but he is the kid.. so the kid will grow.. and will get bruce again.. u cant change the future/past.. well at least i had the right idea after seeing the movie the first time:P
it's called "harmonics theorie" can't change the past cause times follows a path and whatever the turns or shortcuts you take you will always end up to the same point. What matters here is not the way you manage to get there but only the result that you are there. "All the paths lead to Rome"
actually, ya, i guess it would be a never ending cycle. he'd be destined to create another dimension every time... k i stop thinking about it.... now.
Dr Jones is there to make sure she get the virus sample and make sure the virus spread, if the virus don't spreads..there will be a time paradox, Cole's mission was never about changing the future, the future can't be changed..
