my baby held her head up at a few hours old i sat her up to burp her and she put her head straight up it freaked me out cause she was so young but the nurse told me its acctualy common. now shes is 2 weeks old today and she can support her own head and roll over and push with her feet on her belly. im amazed at how fast shes moving along but worried shell be walking too soon lol
Nice video :) She definitely looks like she was looking for the nipple a few times. I decided to try out "breast crawl" with my daughter when she was born, and it worked out great. She is now 3 weeks old and has great neck muscles already.
Oh my, I think we should hold our brand new babies heads at all times. I have three of my own that did this fast too but not without my hand right there...yikes!
The mother was watching carefully & she was also semi reclined on the bed which made it much easier for the baby to lift her head. If a baby can lift it's head, it's "too fast". In the womb no one "holds" the head up except the baby. Baby's are much stronger than we give think. And yes, I agree 100% that we need to guard them carefully. This mother was doing that (even more than this short clip demostrates). BTW, the baby in the video is now a healthy ACTIVE 4 year old - she's my granddaughter.
I looked information everywhere, I want to have my child at home. Is it true that they can take ur baby if u never let the pertaining goverment agency that ur going to do so.
It's great that you guys had a natural birth, but I had to have a c-section under general anesthesia , and my baby was smiling and looking around as well.
You see when you don't have correct information, you assume something is wrong, (at least I did). I never even considered the fact of drugs in the system. Wow I am now truly amazed that this is what a baby would normaly do if there were no drugs involved. She is beautiful I never doubted that though. Thanks for the info.
For those of you who were "scared to death" by seeing this video, let me assure you that Ava was prefectly fine. In fact, she is now a normal healthy ACTIVE two year old! She has *always* been active from womb to present. But any full term normal healthy baby will demonstrate amazing muscle control when they are not drugged from the birth. I see undrugged babies all the time. But I admit Ava showed more than average muscle strength and control.
One more interesting thing you might want to consider. It can take up to 6 weeks for some drugs to completely leave a newborn baby's body. It's interesting that most drugged newborns start to smile and hold their heads up around 6 weeks. With a gentle undrugged birth we see smile and heads held up regularily. I say its probably more "normal" than most people realize.
My sister in law had a c-section under general anesthesia after 2 days of trying without success to induce her. Her baby also help her head up within an hour of birth. You see, it's not the drugs, because if there was ever a drugges baby, she was one. You really need to present more evidence to make your case.
i agree. this baby should have full neck support. this family seems to intent on watching this baby, as if she's an animal at the zoo that supporting her little neck. it was pretty annoying to watch, even though i wholly support homebirth!
awesome! the baby is sooo cute n adorable

I would have been scared to death if my baby was doing all of that, I might have taken her to the hospital to make sure she was ok.

even if they can hold their head up like that its not a good idea to do that because she looks slightly straineed. but still, congratulations
