@hismastersvoice88 you're right. I guess I meant that the bass line was written by andy rourke (at least, I assume so, since he was credited as author of the song).
just relalised i was sitting outside this gig listening, eagerly awaiting the second day (if i remember rightly),was this the gig where Moz was fronting Madness? if so he had missiles thrown at him and cancelled the next day which we should have attended!! left empty hearted x
did yu go to thr Sturday gi? we sat outside a pub listening, we stayed over in London on Saturday nigh only to find that he had pulled out at the last minute, we decided noy to stay for Madness. We followed the hole tour that year. Those were the days. Our frst gig was Hamburg, i was the first to meet him for an autograph at the door but was across a duel carriageway getting cofee's when the tour bus pulled up, still don't know how i managed that!!!!!!
@vegnikki Missiles? No wonder he cancelled. I saw Morrissey in Helsinki, Finland in 1998 but don't actually remember other songs than Girlfriend in a coma.
Saw this live in the 90's it's my absolute favourite song and provokes lots of emotions, i went wild!!!!. The gold shirt takes me back, remember scraawling on th floor of a gig for a precious piece, oh those were the days!!!
Why is there no studio version of this on YT?

"She lives for the written word, and people come second or possibly third..."
"There's enough gloom in her world without my contribution".
Tragically underrated song, to echo another poster...
