Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno made the TV series the phenomenon that it was. Trying to replace them with todays actors and CGI just doesn't do it for most people that watched the original. It's like trying to replace Lee Majors from the 6 Million Dollar Man or Lynda Carter from Wonder Woman.
@Oaklandgirlpitlover1 Today I would say no one. In my day an actor like Lee Majors could not only command a masculine sense of command in a given situation, but also care and concern at the same time for his friends or acquaintances. Care, concern and character tend to be more like props with todays current crop of actors rather than part of their actual being.
@vxer1000 I SOOOOOOO AGREE WITH YOU THERE. :) Nobody cares anymore. Instead of embracing the above mentioned values you've stated. They choose to openly mock it. Then tell you that its old fasioned. Like we're supposed to just accept that school of thought. For which, I have nothing but contept.
lol, i never knew lou acted in the hulk as anything other than the hulk. also, i see ppl arguing over norton vs bana. neither man was the issue with the hulk movies, the issue wad the fact they basically made two cartoons. just because you CAN use CGI doesn't always mean you should. Follywood once again got it all wrong in not using an actual man in the hulk role for the features. it became a farce.
@walka112 I the idea of making both Hulk movies was a farce to begin with and twice they could not get it right. Both movies had some good points. The first one had the best cast but a boring, slow story. The second one was a better story, more action, better looking CGI hulk that did not look like Shrek but the casting choices were not great.
@smiglips Waller must not have hated Ferrigno that much since he is in this with him. This is not a movie, it is a tv show and Waller was guest starring. Waller was also in Pumping Iron with Ferrigno and Arnold. So what do you got against Ferrigno? Sorry to hear about your dad by the way!
Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno appeared on screen together 3 times during the run of the series. Once when Ferrigno played a body builder in the "King of the Beach" Were another body builder played the hulk Larry Gordon.
@theartistwhocrys King Of The Beach Hulk, yeah what we are talking about was Lou Ferrigno and Carl in King Of The Beach was Lou Ferrigno and when they were shown together in the second hulkout, the scene was shot twice and placed together using a split screen. There was no other actor playing the Hulk in this episode unless it was for a stunt Lou could not do himself for which Lou did a majority of because no stuntman on the crew was built like Lou. Lou did double duty in this episode.
@videozfann Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno appeared on screen together 3 times during the run of the series. Once when Ferrigno played a body builder in the "King of the Beach" Were another body builder played the hulk Larry Gordon.
id heard a rumour that if bill bixby hadnt died there would have been another hulk movie made called the rebirth of the incredible hulk or a name to that effect but it was scrapped due to bills death. what if they did the same as the film makers who made the crow did and used cgi imagery to bring bill back to life for the close ups and a stunt double for any shots of him from the back and then lou ferrigno could reprise his old role as the incredible hulk
It's so funny how Hollywood has made two separate movies with Eric Bana and that wimp Ed Norton and yet they still cannot equal the awesomeness of this TV series. The true Hulk will always be Lou Ferrigno and Dr Banner will always be the great actor Bill Bixby God rest his soul.
Lou Ferrigno is NOT the "true hulk". The true Hulk is in the comics where he always has been. The 2008 Hulk movie did a great job of bringing back the comic book Hulk. Better than the tv show.
You call Ed Norton a "wimp", but so was Bill Bixby. Isn't that what Dr. Banner is supposed to be? Both actors did a great job of portraying the character.
@ooOmegaSupremeoo Being a mild-mannered person doesn't make you a "wimp", so no Dr Banner is not a wimp. I haven't seen the movies, so I can't comment on them, but the TV show had a realistic nature to it, thanks to Bill Bixby's portrayal. It was never silly, or a joke. Just b/c you prefer the movie is no reason to put down the show.
@gonzomoya420 I always thought it was a strange coincedence that the first actor to play Banner on the big screen last name was "Bana" which was one of the alias that Banner used in the TV show!
@videozfann You will agree, though, that it sucks we're not getting another standalone Hulk movie. And that Wolverine sucks. And that now DC sucks even more with the reboot and redesigns.
@MasterMacLeod As far as the hulk movies, I liked the cast of the first movie but the story and action were better in the second movie. In my opinion the hulk movies just did not work out and the tv series beats both movies hands down. I actually liked the Wolverine movie. Have not seen X-Men first class yet. Agreed on the DC subject, sick of the reboots. Batman is ending and Superman reboot is coming, 3rd Superman actor. Should have been a sequel to Superman Returns with Brandon Routh, imo!
@ooOmegaSupremeoo Not hardly, the tv series wasn't designed to be comic related. Designed to be more realistic and the tv series is better than both movies put together.
This one of the greatest episodes, I have ever watched. It's great to see the Hulk, speak. Lou Ferrigno, cried after he read the script. To this day, it was one of his favorite episodes.
