Is there anyone today who can actually SING this role and not depend on taking his shirt off to distract us from a mediocre performance? It's Opera, not Chippendales.

The best version of this aria I've ever heard was Sam Ramey. Every word perfectly pronounced, and didn't sound like he was gasping for breath. Hampson is wonderful, of course, and there must be others.

I fell in love with this Don Giovanni when I was about 12. I used to watch this particular production every day without fail. I was obsessed. Good to see it again after these years. Cachemaille makes a good Leporello to Mattei's Giovanni more recently.

This production was INSANE. Musically, wonderful...but the artistic director needs to be drawn and quartered. Well, that might be a little harsh, but still.
