  • There is something quite off about this. As if there is a hidden message.....

  • shes not in her birthday suit O.o

  • The censors let all kinds of crazy stuff through in those days (like the entire "H.R. Pufnstuf" and "Lidsville" series which were one long giant drug joke). But I think this got past the censors because they show a little baby cat posing in a diaper and back then, baby nudity was considered OK and even cute. Now it would be considered pedophile city.

  • I'm pretty certain that me sending this to people on their birthdays makes up a hefty majority of the views.

  • it show how to be a bitch from an early age..... learn gov. education

  • My birthday suit doesn't make me feel so proud :( ["forever alone" meme]

  • pedo bear approves

  • There are two things amazing about this video. One is that you have it (and in near pristine condition, at that) Man, I was about 10 when this came out. Thanks for the great memories.

The second thing is the fact that this song got past their censors. (You do know what a 'birthday suit' is, right? Were the censors at ABC aware that Kitty Joe was singing about being crazy about being naked??)

  • @SuperCartiel The censors at ABC were probably on the same drugs as a goodly amount of people in the late-1960s into the 1970s. Then again, censors were never really smart, so it's very arbitrary.

  • @The4EverYoung85 Yeah, you can't arbitrate when you're somewhere on Mars. I heard that.

  • @SuperCartiel Well to be fair, I know standards have moved on, but the song isn't very explicit. It IMPLIES nudity through the lyrics, but doesn't really contain anything other than you'd find in any other cartoon :P. Trippy backgrounds though XD.

(Would this count as anti-joke chicken worthy?)

  • @Nightmare060 The song isn't porno at all. But it seemed to tap at it. I'm sure that Hanna and Barbera wasn't trying to be explicit. But the PTA would've taken it that way.

  • You look Awesome

    Regards

    -P.Bear

  • ... creepy

  • The original furries....

  • at this point i've stayed up so late and stared at my computer screen so long that i feel like i'm sitting on the wall, this only adds to the hilerity

  • I find this hard to masturb... nevermind...

  • The early furries where very different to their modern ancestors

  • Now i know what a addict feels...

  • Wow, people have been making terrifying furry/loli cartoons for a long time...

  • but.. will it blend?

  • That dog just licked that pussy

  • I guess this is where "Groovy Cat" comes from. Also, Picture Is Unrelated.

  • I see But what is filthy of it she singin about her new birthday suit which is not naked......may just mean clothes i can say.....

  • I post this video on my friends' facebooks every time it's someone's birthday. i love it!

  • This is the filthiest song I've ever heard! 2 Live Crew never reached this level of depravity!

  • Who actually does the singing in the Cattanooga Cats cartoons?

  • this is my go to post for facebook birthdays! thanks cattanooga cats for making me the best facebook birthday poster EVAR!!

  • This is a perfect example of "Getting crap past the radar." At least, it's possible that it was unintentional, but they hid a pretty good subliminal joke in the Flinstones, so why not with this...?

  • I love you in your birthday suit! My birthday suit makes me so proud.

  • Apparently "birthday suit" meant something completely different in the 70s.

  • @BlueDragonOfUNA Nah, "Birthday Suit' meant the same thing in the 60's and 70's as it does today! It's just that Bubblegum Music is so full of double entendres!

  • This video, in the modern context, is kinda wrong in so many ways, but was harmless enough in its time.

  • Oh god oh god!!

I adore the chatanooga cats!! I know they existed way before I was born, but I watched the reruns when I was little and asdjaksd I love them :D

  • She looks like Daphne from Scooby-Doo

  • girl no 1:30

  • 0:40

  • hahaha...how'd this get past the censors in 1969? might have used the 'love is' dodge to get under the radar . Nice little ditty though.

  • I bet if i walk outside thru town in me birthday suit i be arrested!

  • aww! this is so cute! ^.^

Kitty Jo is trying to get Country's attention, but he's shying away, like little kids do.

plus, this is a very catchy song.

  • i want some acid too

  • 1:28, i can totally see me and my friend doing that! lol

  • Ummmmmm.............O-kay............I like my "birthday suit" too.........matter of fact I like it so much I show it off all over my apartment! With the shades down, of course, which is a shame since Ihave such a beautiful "birthday suit!"

  • she looked prettier as a kitten. Her face was really long as an adult

  • I agree! In fact, they ALL would look better as kittens!

  • Holy crap...this was my favorite song when I was 5. I had the record and used to play it over and over.

  • Oh, come on, you guys... It's a cartoon with a catchy tune. Kitty Joe is FULLY dressed. When I was a kid in the sixties, I did not know the FULL meaning of Birthday Suit... I just loved the cartoon and sugar enriched cereal that went with it. Saturday used to be so very cool. If you think about it, this is rather tame compared with today's Saturday morning content.

  • I second the "wrong on so many levels" part...

  • Cute... disturbing, but cute.

  • It looks like Scooby Doo..same design...I'll take ol' Yowp Yowp or Muggins [proto-Muttley], Jinks the cat, etc.:)

  • So cute!

  • Boy u talk of songs with great meanin to...any way what a long ago in time classic

  • It's a old and good cartoon from HANNA BARBERA

  • @mastered46

actually the song was not from hanna barbera from what I heard

  • gay is you

  • 1:25 so wrong.

  • Nope, but she was so hot that even the dog fell in love with her:))

  • Nothing like a Chattanooga Cats tune...Sex Death & a catchy hook...

  • It apparently DID appear in 1968's "Jennie: Wife/Child". Look it up on IMDB!

  • yeah baby yeah

  • Can someone post the lyrics?

  • Where can I download this song as an mp3?

  • ...wow. I thought I'd listened pretty darn well to every song I've got, but y'know... you're right. "Alle Alle Oxen Free" is extremely suggestive! Ahh, bubblegum music... Now, if only someone would post the video for "Love Won't Stay Away" I'd be happy. I was very close after seeing the video for my other favorite, "Merry Go Round".

  • I highly doubt the claim that Mike Curb wrote this for a soft-core movie. But it IS racy, which none of the other Cattanooga Cats songs (I know of 27) were. As much as the song is suggestive, the video twists the lyrics' visual meaning to cuteness. I had heard about this segment, with claims that "Kitty-Jo dances nude", which are obviously only marginally true. Note: This version of the song is slightly different than the album version (Link on the Wikipedia entry to all 27 songs as MP3s)

  • there is another racy song. it's called olly oxen free and it is #6 on the track listing. The whole song is filled with bad puns and suggestive lyrics. I have nothing against the Cattanooga cats, but that song is just wrong.

  • in the true venerable tradition of bubblegum music, where they say it but they don't say it....personally, i think the grown-up Kitty Jo has a cute lil' tale......

  • ew it's a little kid too

  • That's the ONE song I remember when I first watched this show....

  • Mike Curb, who wrote this song was president of MGM records at the time. He is known for dropping artists from MGM who spread the influence of drugs on their records. What's his messege?: Drugs are bad for kids, but orgies are good?

  • Mike Curb also helped out the Osmonds when they started out playing rock music.

When he had his own label, he had LeAnn Rimes & (believe it or not) Joey Lawrence, for his 2nd CD.

  • Heads-up everyone! Mike Curb still has his own label, Curb Records, and LeAnn Rimes, Tim McGraw, Jo De Messina and Nemesis Rising are all on it. But what's your point?

AND, this song was written by Harley Hatcher, not Mike Curb.

  • It's only trivia.

  • It's only trivia.

  • Funny way in u suit u know....I guess she means her clothes

  • This isn't the orignal song for that cartoon, is it? It sounds real 90s-2000s indie.

  • It's definitely one of the original songs!

  • I don't know. I suppose it was made in all innocence, but when I first saw this at the age of 6 I felt there was something wrong here. lol I think this was a case of "lets see what we can slip past the network censors."

  • This is just wrong on SOOO many levels

  • LOL it`s soo cute and so random XDD

  • how do you like me in my birthday suit? :)

  • Get on The Jerry Springer Show & ask that question, you'll get some Jerry beads! (LOL)

  • haha!

  • OMG look what the cat dragged in...

  • happy b-day. 0.o

  • I Want To Lick That Pussy..Cat.

  • of course they knew what it meant

this is a very tame song

  • This song is about as subtle as a rhinoceros horn in the ass.

  • Happy birthday o_o

  • This Cattanooga Cats music video sure brings back a lot of good groovin' memories. Lookin'good,Kitty Jo! You're purr-fect in your birthday suit!

  • The Cats Rule....I remember this cartoon from my childhood, very catchy songs....can you upload more videos??

  • lol obviously they didnt know the true meaning of "birthday suite"

  • You got this song in my head!

  • Can you upload more clips from this show???

  • "no way in the 666 levels of the Abyss that anybody over the age eight wrote that song and didn't know what they were saying"

    lol

  • Awww, I loved this cartoon in my childhood, and still love the cool music clips... :D This one is just so cute! So smooth animation!

  • these are some dirty minded pussies...

  • They figured kids wouldn't get the pun (birthday suit= being nekkid!) or maybe didn't care. That's OK--I like the CCats music. And this can be an age regression alert: we see Kitty Jo and Country as kitties (though they progress to adulthood near end of video)

    As least it's not...kitty porn...

  • Innocent or not, that's the most psychedelic cartoon I've ever seen, and I love it. :D

  • oooooooooookkkkkaaayyyyyy. 8-} Very weird song, about getting naked.

  • The Cattanooga Cats music was done by Mike Curb - who did a lot of theme music for Biker Movies in the late 60's. This song was originally made for a soft-core movie that never got released. When they came up short for material for the Cats only album they resurected this song. Im amazed that they made a video for it!

  • They seem to be pulling the old "oh no, she's just singing about some clothes she got for her birthday!" deniability thing. But there is no way in the 666 levels of the Abyss that anybody over the age eight wrote that song and didn't know what they were saying! I love it.

  • i think she's talking about stripping during her b-day o.0

  • DANG talk about NO BOUNDERIES awww how I miss the old toons.

  • This song is going to be stuck in my head for a very LONG time!
