WHAT IS THIS?!!! IS THIS SOME CHEAP PLASTIC CHEAP IMITATION OF AN ANCIENT INSTRUMENT AND ART!!1 if you want to play the miruthangam, do not use these plastic instruments.
@hopedreamer13 well, fiberglass mrdanga have the bonus of being damn-near unbreakable and being able to take much more complicated strokes with no damage to the instrument, and the acoustic qualities of fiberglass only serve to make the instrument louder. the only downside to this is the plastic heads. i prefer to use a khol of fiberglass with real straps and heads. the clay can be substituted, the leather cannot.
It is a modern and terrible copy of beautiful clay and leather indian instrument- mridanga. This plastic copy has a terrible sound and it can't even nearly produce the same quantity or quality of the sounds that can be produced by the original. Please admit this... This ain't mridanga!
its better that she plays on plastic/fiberglass drum, shouldnt play an actual clay one till you know how to properly care for it.

she's just a little girl playing with a drum, so to say she cannot play at all is not very kind. I am her mother.

@hopedreamer13,
This is not supposed to be a mridangam (the carnatic one) but that Bengali one i think. That Harekrishna thing.

It's a Balarama. There's only one man who makes them in the world. "The manufacturer is not presently able to keep up with demand."
You would have to wait months or even years to get one...
