@nessiebreath That's why I wrote "hardware wise", it;'s the same platform. Same architecture that windows runs on. In fact, it's not that hard at all to make OSX run on a regular PC.
This is however a never ending debate. Also I didn't say I respect the man because he's a good businessman, those where two different opinions. I do think he's a great businessman, AND I also respect the man. This by all means does not mean that I respect all succesfull businessmen.
You simply have no idea what you are talking about. 'expandable and tremendous growth' means that you A don't understand the issues, and B have made the mistake of listening to Microsoft's PR propaganda. My advice, buy your first mac, try it, and learn something for the first time in your life.
@nessiebreath If you say Microsoft steals your money for software the same thing can definatly be true for Mac. However they don't steal for the software, but they steal your money with the pricing of the hardware. A mac nowadays uses a Wintel platform hardware wise, and you probably could install MacOS on your PC just fine, though your not allowed because MacOS can only legaly be installed on a Mac system, talk about lock-in! As a businessman, Bill did VERRY well! I've deep respect for the man.
@simotionpcs. "Wintel"- no thats not true. Macs use Intel chips yes, but have nothing to do with the Windows Operating system.
If you say you respect someone just because they are a 'good businessman". I assume then, that you have the same respect for someone like Donald Trump? Being a good businessman doesn't necessarily mean you have made any constructive contribution to the world. In fact in some cases the opposite is true. Gates contribution is in his charity work.
Because they've actually contributed something instead of just profiting off from others by copying other peoples software and bundle it to their operating system and then using predatory business practises to leverage their market share.
microsoft isn't known for it's innovation at all, they're known for anti trust issues, overpricing and lock-in, and a necessary evil for all truly knowledgeable IT people who don't profit off from selling their inferior technology.
I'd rather kill microsoft and try to build a system that bring me better products for less money. So take your "streetwise" boloney and show it where the sun don't shine, while others try to act responsible so that you can get all the societal benefits that you one day will realize you have without congtributing to it at all. Grow up, and stop listening to bad gangster rap.
And WHY one of the foremost software developers in the world are so far behind in so many ways, when it comes to tailoring the BEST products for the market? What aspect of Bills personailty caused this, or is it just his poor judge of character?
Visual studio, .NET, WPF, Silverlight, WCF, Windows Server, MS Office, MS TeamSystem,... ARE the best products in the market. And windows is by far not as bad as most people make it seem. When windows crashes, 99% of the time it's not actually windows that crashes, but a third party software that causes the crash. That's a side effect of opening up the core system to programmers. It is vastly outweighed by the benefits this gives though.
That's the most c&ck sucking profile of Bill Gates I've ever seen. The BBC don't do their research these days. And send an interviewer who has basically no idea what they are talking about, or what the real issues are. Like why is that Apple has had unquestionably the best OS for the last 7 years, and Microsoft still lead the market?
Because windows is not lockin with proprietary hardware. Because windows is not locked down so that programmers can access core functions. Because microsoft actively embraces the dev community and actively motivates people to write software. Because when you as a software company write a program for windows, you don't need permission of MS. And because the health of apple is in direct connection with the health of dictator Jobs.
