I've tested it, it's different, and it certainly takes a little getting used to. But it's definitely still Windows, you wouldn't be lost. Metro UI is actually pretty good, but as for how it would feel with a mouse, I'll admit I'm not so sure.

I for one think it's a bold move, the whole thing seems quite well finished (as much as a developer's preview can be). There's no doubt I will upgrade.

I think many people are missing the point: Windows 8 have workflows much improved and allows for increased productivity. Those types of improvements perhaps would have appealed more to the power users... But that being said, they totally copied Gnome Shell with their dashboard! Boo. Stick with Ubuntu :)

@omaroo2 I THINK, that windows 7 will not do too much to your files if you upgrade from a previous windows. If Windows 8 does for whatever reason, then it depends a lot on what your trying to do. If it is a bunch of text/word documents, then it is rather simple, make a new partition, then install windows to the other one, If you're talking about programs that had to be installed, then that is going to need MS to provide some sort of upgrade function which I think they currently give.
