MJ is very much a singer he started off as singer. He was known for his singing voice way before any of his dancing/entertaining. His singing voice is what sold those albums not just his dancing (he was the complete package singing and entertainment). He deserve to win a few grammy's for the Bad album.

Grammy Awards are very manipulated right now. The group by this asshole called "Eminem" has the same grammys as Michael, and even this Kate Perry equaled Bad's selling albums a couple of weeks ago. It seems like people don't know much about music nowadays.
I can't believe people thought this album wasn't top notch and want to compare it to Thriller. I mean sure Thriller was and still is the best selling album of all time, but come on most of my favorite songs are from Bad. It actually showed a side to MJ nobody thought they would see: a raw, sexier side. Not to mention people were too focused on his personal life at this point. To put it short, I think Michael was ripped off.
Yeah according to wiki he won the award for Best engineered recording in 88 but for an exceptional artist like MJ, it's all same. Disappointing and unfair. Bad was not rewarded for its creativity, musical quality or vocal performance. And the second grammy he won for the best music video (Leave me alone) was in 90.

Dangerous is my fav album of MJ and Bad the second. All the songs in it are amazing. I cant believe this. I am so heartbroken to see Michael there depressed. He deserved the awards cuz he worked so hard for the album. Most important of all, the songs in the album still rocks now. Where are the awarded ones?? They are too old to listen but MJ's music never gets old. That is what good music about. Good music transcends ages, races and time.

@Dstreetz17 I just stumbled upon some info and remembered my comment. In '88, Mike was actually nominated for 4 awards and ended up winning none that year. He did win a Grammy in 1990 for the "Leave Me Alone" video.
@DanniLuv316 He did in fact win Grammys for Bad. I was watching it live as he won in 1988. There was stiff competition that year (U2's Joshua Tree, Stevie Wonder, but Michael did win Grammys for the Bad album.
Plus he was pressured to out do thriller and I'm pretty sure he knew he couldn't reach the numbers thriller has reached. Bad is still my all time favorite album and it deserves credit. Thriller may have sold more but when it comes down to creativity and the effort he put into his music, bad takes it.
Sorry but Michael's bad album was the best he's written and done. I feel he worked a lot harder than thriller. With thriller he wanted to make a change and he did that. MJ should've won the award, everyone is well aware of it. The fact is that he was so big at the time in the Thriller era, breaking all kinds of records, buying the Sony catalogue, and fighting against poverty, famine and for children around the world better than politicians. This album deserved to win every award... It took him FIVE YEARS ffs!!! It's a better album then Thriller IMO,, ahwell, Michael was more successful then anyone else in that room could ever hope to be and he didn't need an award to prove it.

This was wrong, he should have won many awards for Bad, musically it surpassed what was on Thriller. The album won 2 Grammys I believe. One for best engineered album to Bruce Swedien and Best Video Short Form for Leave Me Alone in 1990.

@pashon4percushon duh i know you're talking about the Bad Era, I referred to the Thriller Era for a reason, to show you the similarities between the 2 and how he didnt just all of a sudden wanted 2 make duets with made musicians, he had them before (hence my references). His Bad era videos were extremely creative, after establishing videos like Billie Jean and Thriller he wanted 2 push the envelope and creativity a little further and its sad to see that u cant see and appreciate that.

And yes, Paul told him, he was fooled by the power of greed and didnt expect MJ to start selling Beattles songs to commercials and any way MJ could make money off the songs and loose the spirtual clarity.

Anyways, MJ tried to get Barbara Streisand, or Whitney Houston to sing IJCSLY with him, but because of conflicts with scheduling and other things they couldnt do it. that doesnt mean that nobody wanted 2 sing with him. plus diana wasnt asked 2 do the duet, nor did he try 2 collab with DMC. please get your facts straight.

Dangerous is my fav album of MJ and Bad the second. All the songs in it are amazing. I cant believe this. I am so heartbroken to see Michael there depressed. He deserved the awards cuz he worked so hard for the album. Most important of all, the songs in the album still rocks now. Where are the awarded ones?? They are too old to listen but MJ's music never gets old. That is what good music about. Good music transcends ages, races and time.

The truth is buried.I could just imagine the depth of the pain he endured, all the enormous, enormous injustices he suffered but inspite of everything he never stopped pouring love, joy all across the globe. Although, unlike some artists, he didn't need a prize to reward his efforts and work. Its still nice to get recognition that you DEVERVE though.
The people who decide who wins probably thought he had too many in '84 so they should give other artists a chance. If an artists is sharing a catagory with Michael Jackson then they know they are most probably screwed.

I never realized that he didn't win any Grammys for Bad. That's a joke. This album had the most #1 singles. I mean come on...Man In The Mirror didn't win?! Crazy. And contrary to what some people think, Bad was very creative. Smooth Criminal, Liberian Girl, Another Part of Me! The list goes on and on.

@Dstreetz17 I just stumbled upon some info and remembered my comment. In '88, Mike was actually nominated for 4 awards and ended up winning none that year. He did win a Grammy in 1990 for the "Leave Me Alone" video.

Thriller may have sold more but when it comes down to creativity and the effort he put into his music, bad takes it.

Sorry but Michael's bad album was the best he's written and done. I feel he worked a lot harder than thriller. With thriller he wanted to make a change and he did that. you guys are talking about thriller being better than bad.. which it was when it came to awards, obviously, but in my honest opinion, i like bad better. i think people expected too much from michael when he released bad, because it didn't win as many awards.. but i don't blame michael. who can release an album after the biggest selling in the world and expect it to be brilliant? people were looking for a thriller sequel, and that's not what happened. bad is a masterpiece itself.

MJ should've won the award, everyone is well aware of it. The fact is that he was so big at the time in the Thriller era, breaking all kinds of records, buying the Sony catalogue, and fighting against poverty, famine and for children around the world better than politicians. He was becoming too powerful for the jealous showbiz industry so they wanted to bring him down but it didn't work. They should know better as MJ is always one for a challenge.

Though he obviously deserved all of them for this masterpiece. Plus a that time he was enjoying worldwide succes with his Bad tour. He knew they hadn't played fair with him and he was disappointed by how the industry judged his work. As some ppl say, there also may be personal issues in the mix but no one can be sure about that.

This was wrong, he should have won many awards for Bad, musically it surpassed what was on Thriller. The album won 2 Grammys I believe. One for best engineered album to Bruce Swedien and Best Video Short Form for Leave Me Alone in 1990.

He was very competative and then plus the fact that they had him in the front row during the ceremony so everyone could see him when he (in his opinion) "failed" over and over again. To him, it was like they might as well have put him on a pedestal in front of everyone and called him a loser. He was really sensitive about it

@themythriller Hahah no. There were other awards for Bad. But the grammys are like..."THE" award to win for a music artist. Especially in the 80's.
