To sum up, God is stupid! In my opinion if there was a creator of EVERYTHING he could not make such basics mistakes, religion's notion of God offends my mind.
im an atheist. listen to my logic (im not being sarcastic i know it sounds that way but im not) Christians beleave going against god is a sin before eating the fruit of the tree humans were incapable of sin. god said dont eat the fruit they ate the fruit. they sinned before being able to effectively sin. Atheist^
@matmasters3 atheist is a religion after all loll they always fight like christian and muslim do all the time over there better way of thinking ... and if you dont believe in those non sence you dont belong to a group but atheist always refer to it as a group of people that are more aware of the real thing but they fight with non sence people hahaha .. for my part i dont realy believe anything but i am not a part of any group ...
Why did God create the tree of knowledge of good and evil? The reason can be found in Romans 9:11-23. God created the tree because he ordained that man would sin against him. God created two classes of people, the "vessels of mercy" and the "vessels of wrath." The "vessels of mercy" are the people predestined for eternal life, and the latter are people predestined for eternal damnation.
@TheCASSMAN777 The tree of knowledge of good and evil was created so God can show his mercy by forgiving sinners, and punishing sinners (Romans 9:11-23). The Christians that say that the tree was created for man's freewill are simply incorrect and the also missed the whole point of it. It was created for God's glory and not for human freewill.
@TheCASSMAN777 The serpent was there so that he would tempt Adam and Eve to sin, and the reason is the same: for God's glory in punishing and forgiving sinners (Romans 9:11-23). The angel was sent to guard the tree of life because Adam and Eve spiritually died in sin (Genesis 3:3). Because of their sin this is why we are born spiritually dead in trespasses and sin (Ephesians 2:1).
@TheCASSMAN777 Cassman now take into perspective how many times the bible was rewritten and take into concept that these questions were already asked so the bible was rewritten to answer those questions and are infact lies to begin with.
@Kyledonovanful I don't understand what your question is. When you ask why the bible has been rewritten, what exactly did you mean? Are you asking why there are so many different translations of the bible, like the King James, New King James, NIV, ESV, ect.?
@TheCASSMAN777 also is we are all decendent from adam and eve lets me ask you this in current days if someone were to commit incest the baby would then have a birth defect but since only two people populated the earth how is it possible that we all dont have birth defects. Also how could there be different colors and races if we were infact sons and daughters of adam and eve
@Kyledonovanful That is a very good question. I don't know the exact reason, however according to many apologists, the reason is because back in Adam and Eve's time their DNA had a lot less holes and mistakes than human DNA today. Because of all the mistakes in the DNA we have today, close family members cant reproduce. And for the different races I don't know either. But many apologists claim that they originated after the Tower of Babel when God created different languages.
i hope some of that is helpfull- SMOKE WEED - GET HIGH - read the "Stone" Tablets
the story becomes more clear -WARNING !!!!
if you strait up deny God and are filed with sin and hatred in your life you will get a feeling of Conviction in your life- you will Go crazy Uzziah, who had a censer in his hand ready to burn incense, became angry. While he was raging at the priests in their presence before the incense altar in the LORD’s temple, leprosy broke out on his forehead.
“Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the LORD Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays.you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act says the LORD Almighty
to really understand the story of the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of Good and evil
Go Buy Some really Good MARIJUANA and GET HIGH and READ the BIBLE
read all the stories & parables HIGH they will all start to make sence to you My name will be great among the nations, from where the sun rises to where it sets. In every place INCENSE and pure offerings will be brought to me, because my name will be great among the nations,” says the LORD Almighty.
it wasnt the tree that created sin it was "us" we are the sinners not the tree
God made every thing holy he cant create sin adam and eve were the first anti christ
they denied the laws of God thus seperating us from God presents - its hard to grasp until you beleieve in jesus also - the tree of life is really muti demintional life after death IMMORTALITY -
because "mainstream christianity" is nothing but heritics they chose to destroy the tree and enslave the people who burn the incense thus denying the fact jesus christ is the true tree of life and died on the cross they have returned to the laws in the garden of eden instead of being thankful God gave us the right to the tree of life in Rev. thus they have blaspemed the the God of Heaven whom they clame to worship
12 He is to take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the LORD and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense and take them behind the curtain. 13 He is to put the incense on the fire before the LORD, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die
cannabis = the holy spirit of God our creator -jesus christ rides on the clouds -rev.14:14-20
when you smoke weed you are physically putting the spirit of God into "you"
your life is a living prayer before God the bible was meant to be read HIGH
rev. 22:14 God gave us the right to eat from the tree of life witch means its now in our possesion because the tree doesnot bring immortality it is fround upon as a "drug"
the truth is we are imortal by design by the blood of jesus
you have great questions- it mite take more than 500 word to explain
the truth about the tree of life and tree of knowledge of Good & evil is they were the same tree
hemp Male & female and Cannabis male & female - God place 4 trees at the foundation of the 4 corners of the earth the true tree of life is "Jesus" he is the "vine" we are the "branches"
that means YOU are the tree of life= life itself
marijuana is the "burning bush" given to moses when he wrote the law = the bible
I've watched a couple of your videos and I'm sure it would be easier if I had seen all of your videos, but I just wanted to say that as a Christian, I think your questions are fantastic and I have had similar questions. However, being a Christian who believes in a God who is all-knowing does not make me or any other Christian all-knowing. This is where faith comes into play. Thanks for your videos. I really do find them beneficial to my life.
No the trees are actually just one tree the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The snake tells eve that if she ate from the tree she would become immortal and like God, thus why we sin today
1:God made Adam first, told him not to eat of the tree, “/then/” made Eve...2:God told Adam, because you listened to the voice of your wife, notice that God did “/not/” say to Eve, because you did “/not/” listen to your husband...3: God used the word “/curse/” to what the Serpent and Adam did in the garden, but “/not/” to what Eve did in the garden, reply?
like the page angie; another issue is what is the meaning of the snake in the garden before there is any knowledge of evil? (which goes along with your thoughts on the snakes existence)
Angie you are celebrity here! You've done it. However, none of your videos make sense. You have a limited knowledge of biblical and theological understanding. Sorry, no more comments here.
@EagleWingsTrick what the fuck are you talking about yoooo?? like really? God is a god of forgiveness and chances. so even though he knew the outcome of the whole shit. he gave them the chance to redeem themselves and dot he right thing. simple as that. DONT REPLY TO THIS COMMENT, because i hate this video. thank you.
@1225loveful You mean you have no logical anwer to the comment so you run away? If God can't control Adame or Eve, why create them? How does any of this make sense? PLEASE REPLY.
These are important questions to ask during de-conversion. I feel fortunate to, for the first time, hear someone else asking them and be shaking my head going, "What does it MATTER?" The absurd nature of the specifics of a mashed-together myth no more disprove the myth than prove it. The best you can hope to show is that it's a gigantic waste of time, which begs the question why you're bothering with it. I hope you've moved beyond it by now. :-)
Angie, have you ever read Judith Hadley's book on the Cult of Asherah? I think you'd enjoy it. As far as I can tell, the Genesis passage seems to be a heavily edited version of a story in which Asherah once featured much more prominently. She's a mother-goddess figure, whose symbols are the tree and the serpent. :)
@AngieAntiTheist God put the tree of knowledge and good and evil in the garden even though he clearly told them not to eat from it, to test there faith. Since they ate from the tree that god clearly told them not to, they disobayed him and sin. It has nothing to do with "free-will." lol wdh? same goes to the snake & they angel. That is why humanity for the rest of eternity is born in sin.
@1225loveful An all-knowing, omniscient god wouldn't need to test their faith, he would already know the outcome. In that case the story still doesn't make sense. The only way for it to make sense is that IF god exists he wanted humanity to suffer.
Most of your issues you raised have to do with each other. First, in short, the tree is not about Adam and Eve demonstrating free will, it is specifically about them demonstrating the free will to obey God or disobey God, as an all-loving God would not force anyone to love him, because true love isn't forced. So he puts the tree there, but tells them not to eat from it, that way they can choose to love and obey God or they can choose to disobey and reject God. The serpent represents temptation..
Ok. You have already made up your mind that God does not exist for you. Go about your life. Be happy. No one wants to argue with you anymore. You have claimed the vicory you ae looking for. I hope it gives you the happiness you are looking for.
Your obviously taking everything literally which shows your asleep anyway then on top of that you have 183 likes because half agree with you and the other half think your a cute girl that they can bang. That's the truth so dont think because you get positive feedback your on the brightside no buddy your points make obvious sense ! in a kindergarten way just us people are blinded to even recognize what your talking about . They will just keep thinking they actually ate an apple OK! GoodLuck
All good questions, I only have one relevant question to add; why put an angel, armed with a deadly weapon, infront of the tree, when an angel is a perfect being that wouldn't commit murder, especially when killing would bugger up god's plans? If the flaming sword is supposed to intimidate and scare them off, it seems to make more sense to chain a demon to it. O.o Then again, why not go the whole hog and tie the devil to it? (Or did god not quite get to the 'creating hell' part by that point?)
@gimmeaneffinnamenow By the way, I say 'murder' because if the idea is to stop them getting to the tree, by the time they're dead, they haven't actually DONE anything.
thankyou for using the word bollocks i'd never heard an american use it before. christianity is complete bollocks and doesnt really require an in depth dissection go and do something more fun.peace.
@nonzz3ro All right, I'll be a little more specific, "We simply cannot fully understand how the universe works right now so we shouldn't assume a supernatural explanation."
Answer 2: You do not realize that God knew everything that was going to happen & He could've stopped it at any time but He gives us the choice . The whole point of life is that God wants man to follow Him out of choice ,its called freewill . God doesn't want to proove Himself to you because if He did ofcourse you would fall to your knees in worship & tears . He is looking for people that instead want to proof themselfs to Him . Not the otherway around
@TheThreadoftruth An omniscient god would not be looking for anything. If he knows everything that is going to happen, then all actions are a foregone conclusion, and therefore, there is no actual free will. All "sinners" and "saints" are destined to be so. To change even one would ultimately change the outcome of history. From your point of view, all of existence is merely a movie God wrote and directed and he's just watching it now. He created man to fail and burn for his pleasure
@torinraven I used to think tht way when I was a little kid but I learned that even if God knows what is going to happen tht doesnt mean we arnt making choices everyday. We simply cannot understand how God works. Also the Bible even says that before the Earth was created God already knew who would accept Him. You really wont be able 2 understand any of this until you can see the whole picture. It needs 2 be our own choice even if God can see ahead & know wht we will choose. Its so simple 2 me
1st Answer :He put the tree there so that they would have a choice - God knew the whole time that Eve would Eat from it But He also knew she would choose for herself to accept sin . God didn't never made her eat it. Even today what is happening is just part of His Divine plan .
GOD was a child when Garden of Eden was created. He did not know that they would eat from the Tree of Knowledge. He was like a Child saying to a Child do not eat.
Now the serpant has a head of a woman. That woman was Lilith who was Adam's first wife. There are two creations in Bible. One a Man and Woman from Earth. And, the other a Man from the Earth and Woman made from rib.
You need to read Genesis as GOD as a child. And, when a child hears do not eat... What do children do???
God's whole idea of putting that tree in the garden is a lot like those cartoons were someone is given some newfangled gadget, but are warned to never press the Big Red Button.
i got my episcopal priest mom to admit that pretty much all of the old testament is bullshit, and so is a good portion of the new testament. my argument was that if god is forgiving, why did he permanently kick out adam and eve?
A brief answer is that God knew everything before it happened, He knew that man would fall, the serpent would be there and man would be sinful. It was all necessary to show man that God is God and man is man. He is the Creator, man is the created. We don't have all the answers, God does. The OT is a type and shadow of the good things to come later in the NT. The reason that the angel protected the Tree of Life afterward is because God didn't want man to life forever in their sin nature.
Just look on joyofsatan(dot)com and you'll see why they choose an apple.. And why a snake. And yes I'm an atheist as well but that site IS correct about the whole 'god' and all..
Thank you for asking these questions. Here is a video that touches on the Adam/Eve/Eden subject very well, explaining it from a Catholic standpoint:
/watch?v=n3u4kYuSTHA
Another video you might want to check out is the following -- it deals with a slightly different question from the ones you're raising here, but it presents some interesting insights into the Eden story:
the tree was put there to test them, he gave them freewill to choose him or not and they made their decision to rebel against him, otherwise they'd just be robots who obeyed not by choice, any court of law would find adam and eve guilty, the snake doesn't force them, he lies and they chose to believe him instead of a God who was good for them and provided all their needs, 1st tree was to test, 2nd tree was guarded as a result of their decision to rebel at which point they lost freewill
@jaffacec But he's all knowing and therefore knew exactly what they'd do. He supposedly knew this would all happen long before it ever happened (because he designed it that way). Why?
Everyone that's going to watch this video please read the comments stated above were angie and yeowIsing are discussing this topic. Yeo is coming up with alot of true facts and honestly outsmarting angie in this perdicament.. Therefore angie looking kind of you could say "idotic" says she would like too stop conversing now.. and just ends the conversation beacause she is actually getting her "facts" and opinion broken down a little bit and she cannot handle it.

god is the ultimate troll. he creates gays only to turn around and hate them and cast them into hell, way to troll, god. he creates extremists in the middle east that kill christian soldiers, way to troll again, god. he created the jews as his chosen people then they kill jesus, just keep trollin trollin trollin trollin trollin! god says that every sunday we should get up early, overdress go to this ugly ass building, listen to a crazy old coot and apologize for being human. EPIC TROLL
Yep, it's all very silly, and full of holes. For example, it was wrong of them to eat from that tree... but wait, before they ate from that tree, they had no knowledge of right and wrong! Yet another cosmic own-goal :-)
Anyway, I've left a video response, as requested...
"Why did god put the tree in the garden if he didn't want him to eat from it"? Ok, I already heard you shoot down the "free will" thing, but assuming that you are taking the stories in the bible in the most litteral sense, why did you say "kind of a risky move" for god? I don't get that. What does god have to lose? He's god! lol.
@AkwardPixieGurl god wanted a perfect world but allowed that plan to be destroyed. he didn't have anything to lose because it wasnt him that was being punished so he didnt give a shit. he is selfish and the biggest troll in mythology
Nothing about this story makes sense. You got two people who don't know right from so you put a magic tree in a garden with attrative fruit and a wise ol walking talking snake who happens to be gods biggest enemy decides to mess things up with temptation. So these innocents succomb and voila. God gets all pissed off at them, takes the snakes legs away and kicks Adam and Eve out of the garden. Not only that their relatives forever are cursed also with so called original sin. Yeah God. NOT.
1) Why the Tree pt2: As God's reflection, man was to perfectly represent God to creation. That resonsibility included enforcing as good what God said was good and as evil what God said was evil. The ability to declare - or say - what was good or evil was left to God. In order to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, man would have to redefine and declare for himself what was good or evil. A&E wanted to be identical to God in declaring for themselves what was good or evil.
1) Why the Tree: God created man (and woman) in His image. They were like God but not identical to God. Think of them as mirrors, created to reflect God. The tree was a trust. Man was created to work in and watch (or guard) the garden (Gen 2:15). He was entrusted to guard the tree.
The tree was to serve as a constant reminder to man that although he was made in the image of God, He was not identical to God.
As God's reflection, man was to perfectly represent God to creation.
Thanks for the video, Angie. This intelligent irreverence is good stuff, and we need more of it. If it angers the sheep, or embarrasses them, so much the better!
Keep up the good work sister! I know it's kinda sad that one needs to point out these obvious things to believers. But there you have it. It has to be done.
And for people of our time to be thankful that modern science is discovering little by little how the universe was created, and what it's made of. We're meant to take the story of creation as a mystical allegorical story, and now that the mind has evolved, realize that science and genesis go hand in hand. or should go hand in hand. One doesn't negate the other. Just one was written creatively for the imagination...and the other is being written with the evolved facts.
I have met some open minded atheists in my day, but it's hard to take your video as something worthy when your tone shows such resentment. Christians take this story as a literal account, which is ridiculous....but you are doing it, as well, with a mocking tone, even. What good can come of that? When genesis was written, modern science did not exist yet, so the biblical account is just for the people of that time and context to experience it ALLEGORICALLY.
@yeowlsing This is part 3 in a series on the Garden of Eden story/myth. Part 1, story taken as history (as creationists do). Part 2, story taken as allegory (as you perhaps do). This is Part 3, further exploration of one aspect of the story that bugged me (and isn't answered within the story itself.)
Mockery has long served as an important rhetorical tool. If not for George Carlin & Monty Python, I might still be a Bible-believer myself. :)
@AngieAntiTheist I am aware of part 1 and 2. this is not a "further exploration" though. because your questions of "why did god put the tree....why the serpent?" etc... still fall under an allegorical account. god didn't write genesis. some guy did. creatively for our imagination, and ESPECIALLY for people that were alive before modern science came into the scene. Monty python is pretty awesome....but i think your tone more accurately describes resentment and not mockery.
@yeowlsing Um, check your comment from an hour ago when you said I was doing it "with a mocking tone" and now consider how your "correction" of that analysis is really just contradicting yourself.
@AngieAntiTheist sure. what's wrong with that? in my last reply i said "more accurately" which is true. before i used mocking and resentment. I used both words. And after your sort of explanation using monty python as an example...even though i think resentment and mockery both apply....i said MORE ACCURATELY: resentment is a big part of these videos.
@yeowlsing Mm'kay. It read like an attempt to correct MY use of a word you first proposed, hence me thinking it seemed contradictory/nitpicky. Let's be done conversing now. Bye!
@AngieAntiTheist I do think you should contemplate on how having discoursed with Yeo you have basically pulled an ejector seat trick to escape the conversation. The fact is your take on Genesis is woefully simplisitic in any of your 'takes' on it.
I mean the 'angel with the flaming sword' comes in after the choice is made, and yet you present it as it it were concurrent! The ultimate answer is that God does not determine our fates, however he is involved with the consequences of our choices.
This story is funny and is so confusing, seen more sense in a 5 year old writing a story. It has so many holes
Straight of the bat....2 trees.....
If adam and eve were immortal in the first place [as in before the fall] that means they could not die...when they ate from the tree, they died.....Thus why is their the tree of life, if we were immortal in first place lol
Also who says man was ever immortal..no evidence other than what we see today..people die
@AngieAntiTheist Sorry, but just to pick you up on your 'mockery' take. No, mockery is not an important rhetorical tool. Are the ignorant making valuable rhetorical points when they mock the disabled? I think not.
Further George Carlin and Monty Python as guides to 'truth' are poor poor choices. I prefer to be mentored by people who are far better informed, educated and equipped to speak on their chosen matters.
I wouldn't turn to Monty Python to understand quantum physics.
@AngieAntiTheist Great video series Angie. My point concerning this mythical story to Christians has always been their god knew the outcome of creating Adam and Eve, knew the need for an atonement, and knew there would be those who wouldn't accept gods "grace". He knew all of this before the foundation of the world. The only way any of this makes any sense is might makes right.
god holds us accountable for sins he knew we would commit then expects us to beg for forgiveness. Fuck him!
@yeowlsing Thats not what the fundies say. They take Genesis literally. So do Jehovah Witnesses. The talking snake and the magic are absurd stories. The lady is right.
@Cainkane1 I did say fundies take it literally, if you read carefully. All I am saying is that mocking something you dont necessarily believe in with a resentful tone (one that comes from being raised in that environment and later on "thinking for yourself") has no real purpose in a healthy debate. I have never taken Genesis like it issomething that happened historically, but I do understand its value as something that was needed metaphorically for the people of that specific time.
@Cainkane1 and how can stories be absurd? dont you read any fiction? watch any movies? Having and Believing a "Im better than you, because i dont believe this garbage" attitude proves just as ridiculous as beliving in talking snakes.
@yeowlsing With a mockering and resented tone or not, you have to agree that she is 100% right . Speaking with a resented tone or not, is not the value of truth of an argument.
@camilocuesta Hardly, she is making ridiculously simplistic points which are in the case of the 'angel with the flaming sword' factually wrong. I, and others, choose not to agree with people who present shallow thought of limited reach as some sort of 'truth.' The tone is simply a weapon to cover up the lack of informed comment.
@MrWildbill20056 Would you enlight and educated us on why exactly do you consider her arguments "shallow" ? The only source to get informed here is to read the first 5 chapters of genesis. It is plain english. What do you mean by lack of informed comments, you mean she hasn't read it ?
@camilocuesta I have already illustrated her totallly inappropriate use of the 'angel with the flaming sword' given it's position in the story sequence.
Further literal readings of the explicitly mythical first books of Genesis is a modern phenomenon. Christians, since the earliest days have been treating them as true allegories.
Criticizing a literal interpretation is therefore a futile exercise.
Nice video. But asking WHY God does things is pointless. The only useful answer is, God only knows. Rather, WHAT wisdom can be gleened from the story? Here's my take: The Tree of Knowledge places us above animals. The Tree of Life places us below God. The lines between light/dark, good/evil, male/female etc. define positions. And so we mortals are uniquely tasked to make choices that either lower us toward animals or elevate us toward God. This task gives our lives meaning and value.>>>
<<<But when you eliminate God and dismiss the Bible as a wisdomless hoax, there are consequences: Humanity is lowered. Nature is elevated. The world becomes "flat". God's replacement -- either Big Brother or Mother Earth -- inevitably revokes our individual liberties and voids the value of human life. Our innate seperation from nature renders us enemies of "god" and LESS worthy of life than polar bears or snail darters. Yes. God draws lines and secular-humanists erase them.
@humansaretheworld People especially those who meditate can have an experience called cosmic consciousness or "at one ment" where one feels to be at one with everything and to have complete understanding. The story of the garden of Eden describes our usual state of consciousness which is knowledge of good and evil where we are thinking and differentiating the world. Knowledge of good and evil is desire and fear as we desire good and fear evil. (cont)
Are you for real? You are anti-christian and you know so little about the faith? How is that possible? You say you were raised in church - what church? The questions and reasoning shows such deep misunderstanding. Why stand in such strict opposition to something you have so little knowledge of?
@12345678901234567844 You've made a claim that I have little knowledge of Christianity. Please provide evidence to support this claim, or STFU. Cheers!
@AngieAntiTheist There are so many - for one you said God brought the animals to Adam to choose for a mate and he didn't want any of them so God made Eve. How nuts is that? That's just one example of proof that you don't know much about what you're so against. I'm not sure what stfu is supposed to mean so I can't speak to that.
Also if you look at the fictional story......god "created" the serpent crafty...thus god created his own problem...then blames the serpent for being crafty lol so in effect god is blaming his own creation acting as it should, with the traits given to it, when he created it.....so thus god, also blames himself, without even knowing it LOL..
Also if you look at the fictional story......god "created" the serpent crafty...thus god created his own problem...then blames the serpent for being crafty lol so in effect god is blaming his own creation acting as it should, with the traits given to it, when he created it...so thus god, also blames himself, without even knowing it LOL..
@AngieAntiTheist lets say god is real.. then all wich he did makes sense..
he put the tree there so he has an excuse for punishing sinners..
he knew he was gonna eat the apple yes.. it just goes to show, adam did not really love god that much.. or else he would have listened.. so the thing about the sheeps, it obviously wasnt enough to show true humans nature to not always listen to god..
adam did have free will, even while god already knew it. it was still adams choise
That tree was to fine tune spiritual(sp)and biologic(bio)free wills(fw); God's creation of reasoning beings had to be beyound perfection. Sinse Sp and Bio's were incredible perfect (body mechanicly speaking) FW will put them with no target.FW is'nt a algorithm
program that will automate the functions, in FW things have to be learned. Gd Instruct Ad&EvThey fail abusing their perfection; as all heaven viewers now devils.
@AngieAntiTheist If you look with your mind into the past to the early years of Ad&Ev when there was no human diseases, before Sin, you could see that perfection of manufacture. Without sin, human expectation was to live forever. I'm looking at human fabrication with the same ingenuity as the rest of creation suggest. Without your personality would you agree that your body is a super advanced bio-mechanism?
Actually, the garden-tree thing is the only thing in the bible I find interesting. It means that the human ability to "conceptualize" can cause difficulties. The notion would have been a sort of revelation to primitive people beginning to live in groups around agriculture. When people lived in small family groups there was much less need for "thinking." The difficulties started with agriculture--and having "strangers" living together in larger groups. I think the story reflects those realities.
Nobody can call you stupid for not understanding whats going on in the bible. You misinterpreted several things, don't understand the notion behind other things.A lot of atheist mention the "talking snake" but they never mention the "talking donkey" but I'm not here to bash you abut it...I'm more just saying
Adam and Eve had a sinful nature before eating the fruit - inter alia Eve looked at the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil and saw that it was good - hence the lust of the eyes. The tree of knowledge was needed to open their eyes to their sinful nature. It is in and through falling into sin that God wanted to bring forth life. The fruition of that life is the second Adam in Christ (which is God himself). Adam was not the fulfillment of Genesis - we are - by faith through the cross
@Johanne0531 So god made us sick, commands us to get well, and punishes us for failing to do what you think is impossible? That god is an evil mother fucker.
I got a good question for Christians. Why did God only establish a telepathic link with a small group of bedouins in the Middle East while ignoring all the other cultures around at the time: Polynesians, Aborigine, Indians, Asians, etc. Pretty sloppy for a god who wants so bad for all people to share in his wisdom. And because of this dis, he forced 1/3 of the planet to, by default, break his 1st commandment. The excuses they make for this are beyond laughable.
God set em up. Simple as that, he's a dick. OR....it's a fairy tale. Ohhh there's an idea :o) Joking aside, my mother would have said it was necessary so that Adam and Eve had a symbol of God's superiority and his right to sovereignty. They needed to know who was the Daddy.
I found the tree bit alegorical, actualy meaning: knoledge may confuse, may cause hurt. May make the world seem ugly, harsh. At large I enjoy the bible best when I read it like I would any other prose/poetry. Alot of times 4 me it's like the bible talks about inner struggles, some characters are connected to specific feelings or situations etc. God's about control. Having it, losing it. Does this make sence 2u at all? It's hard 2 explain in few words (and in English, no less). thank U 4 Ur vids.
Do you get a lot of fundamentalists responding to your videos? You put FUN in fundamental...your upbringing put a lot more MENTAL in fundamental - or so it sounds.
@dvssk8er3 "He wanted to be accepted not forced upon" except for the part where anyone who "rejects his love" gets forced into hell for not accepting him.
yeah this is a old video :> And I'm a atheist, but growing up my explanation for the tree of life was that it was that they didn't actually have immortality, it was eating from the tree of life that made them live forever, as long as they ate from it they live for a thousand years or more, When god prevented them from eating from it they started to lose that ability but it took till around the time of Mosses for the effects to run out as the kids would inherit some of it::>
What I always wondered in far more confusing times: if Adam and Eve did eat from the tree of knowledge and curse the entirety of mankind as a result, why didn't God just allow for them to live out their lives and then just start over with mankind after their eventual deaths? It would make a hell of a lot more sense than dooming all life on earth for the ridiculous crime of being born.
these stories were written when there wasnt public education and even children can poke holes thru the poor attempt at the logic it trys to make. you werent spossed to question god or relig authority so ppl dint openly question back then. becuz of the reformation and enliughtenment these stories are brought to the clear light of inquiry and are so weak that its hard to follow. then apologists make claims like its outta context or you must read it in the original language or...
I think it might've been God's plan.... He made the serpent supposedly. And can you imagine being immortal with all the sin we have now? Having both would be terrible. All God's plan I guess.... Or allah's.... or Zues's...., or Jupiter's...... I'm very indecisive, aren't I? Maybe it's Obama's plan.
@rebeckashine Anyone who believes that Obama is anything but another incarnation of what the American government has always been is ignorant. His mother went to Hawaii to get pregnant to a Tanzanian so she could have Americas first African American president. It was planned all along, his mother comes from a long line of people associated to big business and politics in America. Anyone who thinks he is some kid who has risen from the tribe to be president has had the wool pulled over their eyes.
Is it not obvious genetic memory this help to create a shallow world which are always easy to control all they need is something to catch our eye and through this will they control our hearts and mind.
Free will is the most moronic excuse xians can give. You don't give a loaded hand gun to a toddler and tell him not to pull the trigger. That would be stupid. It does not matter, because this story is not about free will. It is about knowledge. The leaders of the Cult Of Yahweh figured out that if people were smart they'd figure out their teachings were crap, so they made a story depicting all knowledge as evil and destructive, the tree itself sentencing humanity to a life of pain.
Answer to ur first q. No literal garden, no literal trees. You are looking at puzzle, you need to understand every piece of the puzzle. If you don't understand the meaning of the animals, the story will not make sense to you. The serpent is easy, think about it. I'll give you a clue to the angel. The angel is preventing them from getting something they had, something they lost. The tree was always availble to them.
To sum up, God is stupid! In my opinion if there was a creator of EVERYTHING he could not make such basics mistakes, religion's notion of God offends my mind.

TheCASSMAN777 2 weeks ago

Kyledonovanful 4 days ago
@Kyledonovanful I don't understand what your question is. When you ask why the bible has been rewritten, what exactly did you mean? Are you asking why there are so many different translations of the bible, like the King James, New King James, NIV, ESV, ect.?
TheCASSMAN777 3 days ago
@TheCASSMAN777 also is we are all decendent from adam and eve lets me ask you this in current days if someone were to commit incest the baby would then have a birth defect but since only two people populated the earth how is it possible that we all dont have birth defects. Also how could there be different colors and races if we were infact sons and daughters of adam and eve
Kyledonovanful 4 days ago
@Kyledonovanful That is a very good question. I don't know the exact reason, however according to many apologists, the reason is because back in Adam and Eve's time their DNA had a lot less holes and mistakes than human DNA today. Because of all the mistakes in the DNA we have today, close family members cant reproduce. And for the different races I don't know either. But many apologists claim that they originated after the Tower of Babel when God created different languages.

Stheno16 2 months ago
@AngieAntiTheist God put the tree of knowledge and good and evil in the garden even though he clearly told them not to eat from it, to test there faith. Since they ate from the tree that god clearly told them not to, they disobayed him and sin. It has nothing to do with "free-will." lol wdh? same goes to the snake & they angel. That is why humanity for the rest of eternity is born in sin.
1225loveful 2 months ago
@1225loveful An all-knowing, omniscient god wouldn't need to test their faith, he would already know the outcome. In that case the story still doesn't make sense. The only way for it to make sense is that IF god exists he wanted humanity to suffer.
EagleWingsTrick 2 months ago
Most of your issues you raised have to do with each other. First, in short, the tree is not about Adam and Eve demonstrating free will, it is specifically about them demonstrating the free will to obey God or disobey God, as an all-loving God would not force anyone to love him, because true love isn't forced. So he puts the tree there, but tells them not to eat from it, that way they can choose to love and obey God or they can choose to disobey and reject God. The serpent represents temptation..

TheThreadoftruth 4 months ago
@TheThreadoftruth An omniscient god would not be looking for anything. If he knows everything that is going to happen, then all actions are a foregone conclusion, and therefore, there is no actual free will. All "sinners" and "saints" are destined to be so. To change even one would ultimately change the outcome of history. From your point of view, all of existence is merely a movie God wrote and directed and he's just watching it now. He created man to fail and burn for his pleasure
torinraven 4 months ago
@torinraven I used to think tht way when I was a little kid but I learned that even if God knows what is going to happen tht doesnt mean we arnt making choices everyday. We simply cannot understand how God works. Also the Bible even says that before the Earth was created God already knew who would accept Him. You really wont be able 2 understand any of this until you can see the whole picture. It needs 2 be our own choice even if God can see ahead & know wht we will choose. Its so simple 2 me
TheThreadoftruth 4 months ago
1st Answer :He put the tree there so that they would have a choice - God knew the whole time that Eve would Eat from it But He also knew she would choose for herself to accept sin . God didn't never made her eat it. Even today what is happening is just part of His Divine plan .
TheThreadoftruth 4 months ago
GOD was a child when Garden of Eden was created. He did not know that they would eat from the Tree of Knowledge. He was like a Child saying to a Child do not eat.
Now the serpant has a head of a woman. That woman was Lilith who was Adam's first wife. There are two creations in Bible. One a Man and Woman from Earth. And, the other a Man from the Earth and Woman made from rib.
You need to read Genesis as GOD as a child. And, when a child hears do not eat... What do children do???

@DUCKY3654 GOD in Genesis was a Vengeful Unforgiving GOD. GOD is definatly a woman. And, has mood swings due to GOD gets PMS.
TheStormchaser1 4 months ago
A brief answer is that God knew everything before it happened, He knew that man would fall, the serpent would be there and man would be sinful. It was all necessary to show man that God is God and man is man. He is the Creator, man is the created. We don't have all the answers, God does. The OT is a type and shadow of the good things to come later in the NT. The reason that the angel protected the Tree of Life afterward is because God didn't want man to life forever in their sin nature.

the tree was put there to test them, he gave them freewill to choose him or not and they made their decision to rebel against him, otherwise they'd just be robots who obeyed not by choice, any court of law would find adam and eve guilty, the snake doesn't force them, he lies and they chose to believe him instead of a God who was good for them and provided all their needs, 1st tree was to test, 2nd tree was guarded as a result of their decision to rebel at which point they lost freewill

UnknownPreacher 8 months ago
1) Why the Tree: God created man (and woman) in His image. They were like God but not identical to God. Think of them as mirrors, created to reflect God. The tree was a trust. Man was created to work in and watch (or guard) the garden (Gen 2:15). He was entrusted to guard the tree.
The tree was to serve as a constant reminder to man that although he was made in the image of God, He was not identical to God.
As God's reflection, man was to perfectly represent God to creation.
More later....

You've no clue about Contract Law.
Genesis 1 was spelled "God". And created a RACE, called "Adam" (both male and female)
Genesis 2 was the LORD God(note the CAPS). This is where Adam and Eve were "created" separate.
Fast forward to the Constitution.
We the People...and our Posterity...
People, capitalized means "us people who signed this contract"...
Posterity means.."our descendants" and that's why we have no rights.
The Bible isn't about 1 God...LORD God is in there too

And for people of our time to be thankful that modern science is discovering little by little how the universe was created, and what it's made of. We're meant to take the story of creation as a mystical allegorical story, and now that the mind has evolved, realize that science and genesis go hand in hand. or should go hand in hand. One doesn't negate the other. Just one was written creatively for the imagination...and the other is being written with the evolved facts.
yeowlsing 1 year ago
I have met some open minded atheists in my day, but it's hard to take your video as something worthy when your tone shows such resentment. Christians take this story as a literal account, which is ridiculous....but you are doing it, as well, with a mocking tone, even. What good can come of that? When genesis was written, modern science did not exist yet, so the biblical account is just for the people of that time and context to experience it ALLEGORICALLY.
yeowlsing 1 year ago
@yeowlsing This is part 3 in a series on the Garden of Eden story/myth. Part 1, story taken as history (as creationists do). Part 2, story taken as allegory (as you perhaps do). This is Part 3, further exploration of one aspect of the story that bugged me (and isn't answered within the story itself.)
Mockery has long served as an important rhetorical tool. If not for George Carlin & Monty Python, I might still be a Bible-believer myself. :)
AngieAntiTheist 1 year ago 5
@AngieAntiTheist I am aware of part 1 and 2. this is not a "further exploration" though. because your questions of "why did god put the tree....why the serpent?" etc... still fall under an allegorical account. god didn't write genesis. some guy did. creatively for our imagination, and ESPECIALLY for people that were alive before modern science came into the scene. Monty python is pretty awesome....but i think your tone more accurately describes resentment and not mockery.
yeowlsing 1 year ago
@yeowlsing Um, check your comment from an hour ago when you said I was doing it "with a mocking tone" and now consider how your "correction" of that analysis is really just contradicting yourself.
Have a nice day.
AngieAntiTheist 1 year ago
@AngieAntiTheist sure. what's wrong with that? in my last reply i said "more accurately" which is true. before i used mocking and resentment. I used both words. And after your sort of explanation using monty python as an example...even though i think resentment and mockery both apply....i said MORE ACCURATELY: resentment is a big part of these videos.
yeowlsing 1 year ago
@AngieAntiTheist its not a contradicion on my part. it's a realization after more proof.
yeowlsing 1 year ago
@yeowlsing Mm'kay. It read like an attempt to correct MY use of a word you first proposed, hence me thinking it seemed contradictory/nitpicky. Let's be done conversing now. Bye!

@AngieAntiTheist and just like most theists.....i dont agree with your stance, so lets not talk about it. Very productive.
yeowlsing 1 year ago

@MrWildbill20056 and I hope you wouldn't consult the bible on the matter, either.

Fuck him!
metalsusa1 6 months ago
@yeowlsing Thats not what the fundies say. They take Genesis literally. So do Jehovah Witnesses. The talking snake and the magic are absurd stories. The lady is right.
Cainkane1 8 months ago
@Cainkane1 I did say fundies take it literally, if you read carefully. All I am saying is that mocking something you dont necessarily believe in with a resentful tone (one that comes from being raised in that environment and later on "thinking for yourself") has no real purpose in a healthy debate. I have never taken Genesis like it issomething that happened historically, but I do understand its value as something that was needed metaphorically for the people of that specific time.
yeowlsing 7 months ago
@Cainkane1 and how can stories be absurd? dont you read any fiction? watch any movies? Having and Believing a "Im better than you, because i dont believe this garbage" attitude proves just as ridiculous as beliving in talking snakes.
yeowlsing 7 months ago
@yeowlsing With a mockering and resented tone or not, you have to agree that she is 100% right . Speaking with a resented tone or not, is not the value of truth of an argument.
camilocuesta 5 months ago
@camilocuesta Hardly, she is making ridiculously simplistic points which are in the case of the 'angel with the flaming sword' factually wrong. I, and others, choose not to agree with people who present shallow thought of limited reach as some sort of 'truth.' The tone is simply a weapon to cover up the lack of informed comment.
MrWildbill20056 5 months ago
@MrWildbill20056 Would you enlight and educated us on why exactly do you consider her arguments "shallow" ? The only source to get informed here is to read the first 5 chapters of genesis. It is plain english. What do you mean by lack of informed comments, you mean she hasn't read it ?
camilocuesta 5 months ago
@camilocuesta I have already illustrated her totallly inappropriate use of the 'angel with the flaming sword' given it's position in the story sequence.
Further literal readings of the explicitly mythical first books of Genesis is a modern phenomenon. Christians, since the earliest days have been treating them as true allegories.
Criticizing a literal interpretation is therefore a futile exercise.

CAN SOMEONE ANSWER HER QUESTIONS?
leojbx 1 year ago
can someone make a video response
leojbx 1 year ago
This task gives our lives meaning and value.>>>
stuntbaby63 1 year ago
<<<But when you eliminate God and dismiss the Bible as a wisdomless hoax, there are consequences: Humanity is lowered. Nature is elevated. The world becomes "flat". God's replacement -- either Big Brother or Mother Earth -- inevitably revokes our individual liberties and voids the value of human life. Our innate seperation from nature renders us enemies of "god" and LESS worthy of life than polar bears or snail darters. Yes. God draws lines and secular-humanists erase them.
stuntbaby63 1 year ago
The don't think the story of the garden of Eden has anything to do with sin or punishment but is rather an allegoric story about mysticism.
humansaretheworld 1 year ago
@humansaretheworld Who is they? (for clarity)
AngieAntiTheist 1 year ago
@AngieAntiTheist (cont 2) the tree of eternal life is the experience of "at one ment" which is without time rather
than time without end. The word "at one ment" is not biblical but is has been changed to atonement for sins
to give church leaders a role in the story. The tree of eternal life is about enlightenment or "at one ment".
Experiencing an egoless state can help one overcome fear of death which keeps one from living.
the flame(lite) is facing in all directions
humansaretheworld 1 year ago
@humansaretheworld People especially those who meditate can have an experience called cosmic consciousness or "at one ment" where one feels to be at one with everything and to have complete understanding. The story of the garden of Eden describes our usual state of consciousness which is knowledge of good and evil where we are thinking and differentiating the world. Knowledge of good and evil is desire and fear as we desire good and fear evil. (cont)
humansaretheworld 1 year ago
Are you for real? You are anti-christian and you know so little about the faith? How is that possible? You say you were raised in church - what church? The questions and reasoning shows such deep misunderstanding. Why stand in such strict opposition to something you have so little knowledge of?

@AngieAntiTheist lets say god is real.. then all wich he did makes sense..
he put the tree there so he has an excuse for punishing sinners..
he knew he was gonna eat the apple yes.. it just goes to show, adam did not really love god that much.. or else he would have listened.. so the thing about the sheeps, it obviously wasnt enough to show true humans nature to not always listen to god..
adam did have free will, even while god already knew it. it was still adams choise

@wertyh11 Huh? Human bodies are so poorly designed. You can't possibly be referring to those as perfect, can you?
AngieAntiTheist 1 year ago
@AngieAntiTheist If you look with your mind into the past to the early years of Ad&Ev when there was no human diseases, before Sin, you could see that perfection of manufacture. Without sin, human expectation was to live forever. I'm looking at human fabrication with the same ingenuity as the rest of creation suggest. Without your personality would you agree that your body is a super advanced bio-mechanism?
wertyh11 1 year ago
Actually, the garden-tree thing is the only thing in the bible I find interesting. It means that the human ability to "conceptualize" can cause difficulties. The notion would have been a sort of revelation to primitive people beginning to live in groups around agriculture. When people lived in small family groups there was much less need for "thinking." The difficulties started with agriculture--and having "strangers" living together in larger groups. I think the story reflects those realities.

It's hard 2 explain in few words (and in English, no less). thank U 4 Ur vids.

yeah this is a old video :> And I'm a atheist, but growing up my explanation for the tree of life was that it was that they didn't actually have immortality, it was eating from the tree of life that made them live forever, as long as they ate from it they live for a thousand years or more, When god prevented them from eating from it they started to lose that ability but it took till around the time of Mosses for the effects to run out as the kids would inherit some of it::>
wolfwing1 1 year ago
What I always wondered in far more confusing times: if Adam and Eve did eat from the tree of knowledge and curse the entirety of mankind as a result, why didn't God just allow for them to live out their lives and then just start over with mankind after their eventual deaths? It would make a hell of a lot more sense than dooming all life on earth for the ridiculous crime of being born.

Free will is the most moronic excuse xians can give. You don't give a loaded hand gun to a toddler and tell him not to pull the trigger. That would be stupid. It does not matter, because this story is not about free will. It is about knowledge. The leaders of the Cult Of Yahweh figured out that if people were smart they'd figure out their teachings were crap, so they made a story depicting all knowledge as evil and destructive, the tree itself sentencing humanity to a life of pain.
skywize 1 year ago
Answer to ur first q. No literal garden, no literal trees. You are looking at puzzle, you need to understand every piece of the puzzle. If you don't understand the meaning of the animals, the story will not make sense to you. The serpent is easy, think about it. I'll give you a clue to the angel. The angel is preventing them from getting something they had, something they lost. The tree was always availble to them.
