  • Any advantage to using chalking compound behind the mud flaps? A dealer installed a set using some type of chalking compound between the flaps and vehicle body, claiming that would reduce the possibility of rust. I've never done so, nor have seen anyone else. However, the dealer's premise is logical, so may have some validity. Opinions?

  • @stewartx5 @stewartx5 I talked to the guy who owns this trunk. As you saw in the video, no calking used. He said that to date, there are no signs of corrosion and the installation is sturdy. I don't think the calking is necessary. Plus, if someday you would like to remove the mud flaps, you will have left over calking stuck to your vehicle's wheel well and that's kind of a pain.

  • @etrailertv Good enough. Actually, I'm surprised you didn't say anything about my misspelling of caulking. Of course, you misspelled it as well. Odd word. Anyway, doesn't matter as long as we both understood.

  • @stewartx5 Happy I could help. And, yes, caulking...spelling isn't my strength. Let me know if you have any other questions!
