hey seth.. i have the philippe B in de ghetto in vinyl record but i cannot find to purchase as wav. or mp3 is there anyway that you remember where you get the track to download to your laptop mate.. appreciate it.. :)
To answer all questions... It's not mom and dad... its bar mitzvah money real talk.. Anyway.. 15 when I recorded this.. 20 now. Listening back in on this. It's dope. Fuck what you say.. You can do it on itunes? then do it. i did it on cdjs
wait wait wait.. you're in high school and have that equipment? you're lucky that you have rich parents... I've had to scrounge for all of my equipment.
i payed for that.. i life guard for a management company.. 15$ an hour ;) saved up for a while.. its not that much i know, but without mortgages and shit.. 15 an hour adds up quick
mixer, i use the effects alot.. not in this vid.. only the basic ones like sweep nd stuff. The cd player "effects" which are looping and hot cues basically (aside from likie reverse) don't work well with torq, nor does cuing a cd with the cue button, its much easier to scratch it in. as for torq, i just use it for easy access to music, not gunna lie, i have no idea what sort of effects are really on there, haven't experimented much.
Junior year of high school has been hectic, and haven't had time to mess with this set technically. Before, i had denon 3500s and dxm 09, so yea.. once summer comes around i hope to master these babies. thanks for the listen tho bro. appreciate it.
which ones would u be talking about? You mean by using it in vinyl mode alot? if so thats just cause i like to keep it simple, and "old-school" if you will, alot of the time. doesn't mean i dont use the platter, but for something like this, or other non-tech mixes, i like to imitate vinyl.
Are those Sony MDR 7506 Headphones??? If so what are they like? Also a handy tip>>Don't ride the pitch control on the cdj's like that > speed/slow down using platter then adjust accordingly with slider. Also try the 1000 in CDJ mode, very nice for beat matching
yea, i was using the cdjs in vinyl mode, and pitch riding as much as i could for the most authentic vinyl feel, but lately i have been using cdj mode and the platter. I love the 7506's they are real nice. Sound great, but aren't as loud as others i have used, so u just gotta turn em up a little, and they are dope, best sounds i have used.
Cool, Have you used the Sony MDR-V700 headphones before? That is what I'm using and have been using for 6 years! They are not bad DJ cans but shit in the studio (muddy mid bass) I want something new you see. What is the bass like on them? It's between your cans or the HD25's
the bass isn't great, can't lie, but it does the job it needs.. for their price, they are awsome... i think the hd 25s were more expensive, prolly have a little better quality, but idk.
Its not a formula, but generally the mix out points are at the end of the 2nd phrase. and each phrase is about 15 seconds on average, so its about 30 seconds.
Its simply mate....you don't need to count at all..
Just after 8 bars you hear a change in the music. Be it a little crash, jutter, double beat, crescendo something you'll be able to spot in 90% of dance music. Thus no need to count.
Basically the 64 beat is the end of the second phrase. I.e you have 8 bars (1 phrase), then another 8 bars (2nd phrase) and then mix out then...
If you're quick mixing cut between tracks on 32 or 64 beats preferably 64 it's when all transitions in 4/4 music happen so sounds natural to the ear. You did on some but not others. It was good and impressive you got that many tracks in but you mentioned your long smooth mixes, I'd love to hear that on a mix of yours if you could hook me up with something longer.
sure. I have some on mp3 ill try to upload later, but ill do some smoother ones on a video soon. I'll keep you uploaded. I no it may sound very "newb" of me, but I'm not exactly sure how i would go about knowing when it is the 64th beat without counting, which is kinda tough to do, especially while mixing.
if you know your tracks that well, then the need to know what key theyre in, what bpm they are, where to cue/mix/juggle...all that knowledge will be instilled without needing to know the technicalities, practice makes perfect
thanks bro. yea, i did use em alot, prolly cas i haven't listened much to the tracks, so i cheated with the wave map to cut at the "right" times. I should put the comp over to the side or something, so i dont cheat next time ;)
You do too rough transitions. Some were ok. Good beatmatching and bending there. Also some of the tunes were just too different from the sound of each other that it didn't sound good. But anyway nice mix.
thanks for the comments bro. Yea, some toons def. didn't go together to well. They are pretty ruff, but i didn't intend them to be smooth. I gotta work on my quick transitions, this is really my first experience with the quick stuff as opposed to long smooth fades. Thanks again.

you don't really make use of the effects included with the cd players, mixer, or torq/conectiv.

Nice but don't be a slave to your pc. You have cdj 1000s you shouldn't need a pc!!
Trust me use the cdjs how they were meant to be used - you'll enjoy it way more.
A couple of the mixes were a tad abrupt but i suppose you;re working to time constraints.
