thank you, no, no pain meds. i didn't have pain meds w my son, also a waterbirth, either. my exper. was that by following the preparation directions of my midwife for several weeks and months before delivery, including perineal massage (rigorous!) and using the doula's breathing and body positioning techniques, i was able to integrate the pain and cope with it and use it for power. best two days of my life.
OMG!! Bringing a child into the world is such a beautiful thing!!! i actually cried when i watched it. Ur baby is gorgeous. Thnks for sharing ur special moment with us. Hopefully even i'll have such a beautiful delivery one day.
in my case i needed the coaching; it helped me. i got so deep in my zone of pushing i needed them to stop me because i might have got a tare, so i was glad they were vocal. but true, it's for each mom to decide. thanks so much for watching and for your nice comments! :)
yea, it helps a lot; you sort of sway against the direction you feel the contraction moving in, try to imagine that you're making more room inside your body for the ripple effect of the contraction. it helps a lot.
oh wow this is just beautiful! I am trying to get pregnant and haven't had any luck yet... But a water birth is definitely the way i want to go. Your baby is absolutely gorgeous! All the best!
The most beautiful birth clip I've seen on youtube! Though I agree that the midwives should keep their hands of, I'd be furious... ;) Guess that's up to each mom to decide!
Hello, I was looking through your comments to find mine... I could have sworn I commented. I am currently in school to become a Midwife and also Due in 2 days to have a lil bundle of my own. Back when I first found out I was pregnant I watched over 150 births here on YouTube! I am trying for a VBAC. Your video gave me hope and stregnth to want to fight for a natural birth. Thank you for that! The BEST BIRTH VIDEO I have ever seen by FAR... Your birthing team was wonderful!
Um. It hurts way less. It's less traumatic. You don't require pain meds that could jeopardize your child. Google it, if you really care and aren't trolling.
thankyou for sharing this. it is a beautiful video, and i admire your strength in giving birth this way.
When I eventually have children , and i cant wait until I do, I hope to have a natural waterbirth at home, and its wonderful vids like this one that keep me inspired!
hmmmm... you know, i don't think she was saying that. i think she was trying to get me sort of over the top of grabbing as much power as i possibly could for a big push. the baby was crowning hard at that point and she was trying to get me to reach deeper into my own strength for a really intense push.
This is the most beautiful video I have ever seen, when your daughter was born it brought tears to my eyes!!!!!!!!! What a beautiful baby you have!!!!!!!!!!!!! She brought light into this world when she came...it is very apparent....God Bless!
i am going through a weird night of watching birthing video's..(don't ask why!). and i have to say... this was amazing! ur daughter was perfect.. adorable..gorgeous...and SWEET indeed! WELL DONE!
Your beautiful video made me cry. I hope to find people as supportive as your midwife! Spectacular, especially the last moments with your new daughter. Thank you so much for posting this.
i cry everytime I watch this. Helen told me to look it up. good idea!!! she is coming over tomorrow so i can meet her, i am really excited. im due august 12 and i am having a water birth at nassau university, thats where you are huh? I think I may be doing A Baby Story with Barabara, you should have. that would have been a very moving episode. (PS:I like your tattoo, i have a star of david and my hebrew name, leah, on my hip)
they say theres no such fing as a perfect birth but mumma that was PERFECT,im having a waterbirth bt was recently considerin changing my mind as so mny ppl have bn discouraging bout it but after watching this ima go ahead thnk u xx (due in 10weeks)
thanks to EVERYONE for the latest loving comments. this made me laugh though about being brave; if a man could have a baby he would do just fine. thanks for your appreciation!
Amazing! I have never posted a comment on you tube. Your video moved me. This is amazing. I too, share the belief that natural birth should become the norm. The immediate bond between you and Miss Henrietta is something so many women miss after epidural assisted births. Thank you for sharing and God Bless!!! I absolutely love her name by the way. Do you call her "Etta"?
thanks for all your nice comments! actually we call her Yetta, which is a derivative of Esther and which was my grandmother's name.
i agree with you that medicated births cause a lot of women to miss out on this incredible and natural experience. i hope that more potential moms will watch our video and see that it's a special thing that we were born to do and that's not to be missed!
I think I may have left a comment before but, in case I didn't lol.....I've watched a TON and I mean a TON of birth video's here on youtube and I really think this one is the best. It's soooo beautiful and your little girl is so perfect!! I just LOVE the way she cries!!! She's just sucha picture perfect newborn! My baby is due in June and I want a waterbirth SO BAD but, the hospital I need to go to for insurance purposes does not do waterbirthing. I'm bummed.. so I watch this video instead lol
well i'll try to answer succintly; when her head came down and it was time to push it was very sudden and powerful; felt like a brick had sunk to the bottom of pelvis; SLAM! so i started to push, which the water helps with a lot; the pressure per square inch makes pushes more efficient; head at full crown is the HARD part; OWE. but just for a few seconds. the shoulders were fast, gloop gloop one then another, and then the rest of her flopped out and my heart soared to the sky!
oh my god this is the best birth video ever!!!!!! congratulations, this makes me want to have a baby! you are amazing! you are going to be and are the best woman to have a child, and your baby will become an amazing being in the world!
oh my goodness you are too kind! this is the gift of our video being up here, we have gotten so much love back for our sharing it. thank you SO MUCH for your loving comments. our babies are the best thing that have ever happened to us. THANKS FOR VIEWING!
haha! she was absolutely silent for about 8 months. even when she cried it was a little "prip! prip!" sound that ended as soon as she got a booby to nurse. she was a big moon-face who would just watch, everyone, all day. THEN she started shrieking. she thought it was hilarious and amazing. she will be TWO this wends and NEVER STOPS TALKING REALLY LOUDLY!!!! it's pretty funny except when i have a migraine. :)
OMG!! Your reaction to your baby is one of the most beautiful reactions I've ever seen!!! You were meant to be a Mama! Thanks for sharing this. It pretty much confirms me wanting to have a water birth.
oh i really hope you will have one. find a good midwife and do what she tells you to prepare. also get an experienced doula. do lots of yoga and make sure you take PERINEAL STRETCHING very seriously. you will have a great delivery!
Omg that was beautiful... Ive seen every birth video on youtube and this one brought more tears to my eyes than any of them.... Congratz shes perfect...
made me cry the way she was looking at you literally brung tears to my eyes :O was a truly moving vid i hope mum and daughter are good you should do a vid when she's a little older would be lovely to see =)
After watching your beautiful baby girls water birth, I'm positive it's the right thing for me when the time comes!.. Thank you both for sharing this beautiful moment with the world! You did a wonderful job momma!!!
I just have to tell you that I saved this video into my favorites and watch it frequently. It's not that I'm a weirdo lol, I'm due June 24th and am just fascinated on how beautiful your birth was. Your little girl is sooo PRECIOUS!!! I love watching your reaction too, it's just a priceless video.
My apologies to anyone who had to read the idiotic and disgusting comments recently posted. As is my usual practice when inappropriate messages are posted, i blocked the users and removed the comments.
im not going to lie,the thought of pushing a baby out of a tiny hole and raising it for 18 years is SCARY! but the look on your face and how delighted you sound to have her, would easily change my mind about having kids.this looked like a beautifull moment! hope all is well with yourselves and bubs
This was amazing to witness. Your midwife and doula were totally in sink with you and! I love the way your midwife just sort of let your baby float up to you out of the water. And you baby seemed so content...not traumatized at all...this is how it should be.
congratulations! i will be thinking about you. i know you will have a wonderful baby and i hope you will prepare thoroughly for a healthy birth! lots of love!
Sorry that last post sounded really negative... you did a wonderful job. For some reason the midwives put me off. But your baby, so beautiful and perfect.
no need to apologize but i don't think people were really 'scoring' the birth. my sense is that what they responded to was the quality of the actual video, that the process is really clear and undisturbed. also, please don't assume the midwife and doula were 'bossy.' they were coaching me, and i really needed thier support and participation. this was my second waterbirth w them. remember all births are different! :)
I didn't think it was that good... I had a waterbirth and didn't allow the midwives to tell me what to do. The ones in this video are very bossy. She could also have been in a better position while pushing....
I am due to have a waterbirth and i am due in 2 weeks and was really scared about giving birth! After watching this, i am soi excited and this video made me cry. It all looked so beautiful and you have such a gorgeous girl. I love this video xx
I just wanted to tell you that most births dont really totally capture me in the moment...but this birth was so unbelievable. It was pure beauty.I was so touched. your baby is so precious. That was just a terrific birth. Good on you. God Bless
she is beautiful i too am researching water birth, i also liked that you screamed really loud it gave me the head's up that going naturally i might just have to yell or twice. other then that it seemed so peaceful and quite.
yeah... I cried. :0) We're expecting our first child and I've been watching videos as research for water birth. So beautiful! She's perfect! It seemed like such a quiet and natural process.
This is probably my most favorite birth video ever. I've probably watched it 30 times! I love it. Every time I watch it I think "That's what I want. That's what I want my birth to be like". You were so calm through it all, letting your body do its thing. And then she's born and she's so mellow and relaxed. So comfortable. It's so mind-blowing to me! Such a beautiful thing to see. Thanks so much for posting!
this is beautiful, but didnt it bother you that she told you what to do and when to do it. you had no freedom. you couldnt push with the urge or when you wanted to. they gave you such detailed directions and you couldnt let your body feel it.
hi and thanks for viewing! no i did not feel that the midwife was excessive; she is an excellent coach. she knows me very well from my first birth, also in water, and she was actually supporting my pushes with the contractions; she wasn't working against me at all, rather, she was aware of when i was harnessing the urges and making the most of the contractions. she's been in the biz 25 yrs and is great! thanks so much for your interest!
im overdue i was due a few days ago.. im having a home/waterbirth with my 1st baby.. i was noticed there was no blood at all? is that common? i actually had the same midwife as u but i wanted a homebirth so i transferrred!
this vid is amazing and i pray i canhandle it as well as u did.. which part is the most panful? u didnt seem too bad i guess we mmissed transistion? hehe
thanks! thats a huge question but briefly; in a normal healthy pregnancy there is no safer birth than waterbirth! no medical interventions are needed in a healthy delivery. water helps to relax the mother which eases the pain of contractions and allows the uterus to work without excessive stress. also the water presses on the abdomen to help make contractions more efficient. plus as you see it's much less trauma for the baby! read Jennifer Bloch's "PUSHED" to learn more. thanks for viewing!
WOW!! You did a great job my husband and i are trying to have a baby and i thought i would prepare myself and im really thinking about having a water birth when the time comes it was so peaceful.
THANKS! find yourself a midwife in your area for you main care providor and start talking with her about preparing. it's a lot of work and responsibililty but it's more than worth it!
wow! this was great for me to see! I am pregnant, and wow, I'm just amazed at this woman's tenacity to pull through. Thanks for telling me about the midwife people as well that helped you. Just incredible all around.
a pleasure; i hope you will look into preparing for a wonderful natural birth. these practitioners are the best. i had two successful waterbirths and my kids are fabulous. and they love to swim! feel well and good luck!
thank you! but you know, the great thing about natural birth is that it is not scary, so there's no need to be brave. it's realy peaceful and normal. there is some pain of course, but when you work with a midwife you are prepared for it. this delivery only took 14 minutes. i was in labor for 6 hours. a piece of cake!
thank you so much for your sweet comment! i wish you a wonderful second waterbirth! i hope you will make a video and post it! lotza LUV, henrietta's gang
ha! that's so funny. no she is NOT silent now! good lord. she actually never ever stops talking, yelling, laughing, and barking! and you know what's funny? she can swim underwater. actually swim. makes a strange kind of sense, no?
This gives me a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes each time I watch! I hope my baby's birth is as loving, calm and beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Omg she looks so beautiful just like her mommy ! I wish to have a daughter ! Wow 5:12 was a beautiful moment congrats hope all the best for you and your family ! God Bless
i have watched a million times..maybe a million times more if i can lol ,I love this video , i have 10wks left of my pregnancy.. is this your first baby ..? she is so pretty awe ..cute x .
OMG that was by far and away the best birth video I have seen yet!!! I'm crying right now... your baby is epically cute! Congrats to the mum - perfectly done.
Your baby is so beautiful! Out of all the newborns I have seen, your is by far and way the most beautiful newborn!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful story!
hi and thanks for your question. many people wonder about this. as you may know, babies take oxygen in while inside the mom through the umbilical cord and thier bloodstream, continuing to do so until the cord is cut, after the delivery. well oxygenated when they come out, they do not actually begin breathing with thier own lungs for sometimes 5, 10, 15 seconds; the famous cry we all wait for. at delivery, the baby is only under water for about 8 seconds. don't worry! :)
I've seen hundreds of birth videos but this one really stood out. I loved how she was so wide eyed just after the birth and how you were kissing her sweet face. I do the same with my
amazing birth! how long did you push for?

Sorry that last post sounded really negative... you did a wonderful job. For some reason the midwives put me off. But your baby, so beautiful and perfect.
Apologies for the 'negativity' of my first post.
madgemr 3 years ago 3
no need to apologize but i don't think people were really 'scoring' the birth. my sense is that what they responded to was the quality of the actual video, that the process is really clear and undisturbed. also, please don't assume the midwife and doula were 'bossy.' they were coaching me, and i really needed thier support and participation. this was my second waterbirth w them. remember all births are different! :)
ceicilbee 3 years ago
I didn't think it was that good... I had a waterbirth and didn't allow the midwives to tell me what to do. The ones in this video are very bossy. She could also have been in a better position while pushing....
But it was OK, not the 'best'.

totally amazing the best birth on you tube and the most beautiful baby ever congratulations to you all!

Such love: "isn't she perfect."
Such clarity: "she looks like a turtle."
I've watched a lot of home videos, have even made a few, but this one takes the prize.
congratulations!

she is beautiful i too am researching water birth, i also liked that you screamed really loud it gave me the head's up that going naturally i might just have to yell or twice. other then that it seemed so peaceful and quite.
kdekle24 3 years ago
yeah... I cried. :0) We're expecting our first child and I've been watching videos as research for water birth. So beautiful! She's perfect! It seemed like such a quiet and natural process.

An absolutely inspiring, beautiful birth. Your amazement with her brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks so much for posting!

this is beautiful, but didnt it bother you that she told you what to do and when to do it. you had no freedom. you couldnt push with the urge or when you wanted to. they gave you such detailed directions and you couldnt let your body feel it.
lolyouarecool 3 years ago
hi and thanks for viewing! no i did not feel that the midwife was excessive; she is an excellent coach. she knows me very well from my first birth, also in water, and she was actually supporting my pushes with the contractions; she wasn't working against me at all, rather, she was aware of when i was harnessing the urges and making the most of the contractions. she's been in the biz 25 yrs and is great! thanks so much for your interest!

That baby is absolutley beautiful. Now what are the major bennefits of a water birth?
dahottestyet 3 years ago
thanks! thats a huge question but briefly; in a normal healthy pregnancy there is no safer birth than waterbirth! no medical interventions are needed in a healthy delivery. water helps to relax the mother which eases the pain of contractions and allows the uterus to work without excessive stress. also the water presses on the abdomen to help make contractions more efficient. plus as you see it's much less trauma for the baby! read Jennifer Bloch's "PUSHED" to learn more. thanks for viewing!

What a great video! Congrats on your beautiful perfect baby :) You were so brave!
lubicalengenova 3 years ago
thank you! but you know, the great thing about natural birth is that it is not scary, so there's no need to be brave. it's realy peaceful and normal. there is some pain of course, but when you work with a midwife you are prepared for it. this delivery only took 14 minutes. i was in labor for 6 hours. a piece of cake!

freakypetOZ 3 years ago
wonderful! I just have a question though: couldn t this be dangerous for the child? I mean if the child is too many seconds in the water?
altopanavnzla 3 years ago
hi and thanks for your question. many people wonder about this. as you may know, babies take oxygen in while inside the mom through the umbilical cord and thier bloodstream, continuing to do so until the cord is cut, after the delivery. well oxygenated when they come out, they do not actually begin breathing with thier own lungs for sometimes 5, 10, 15 seconds; the famous cry we all wait for. at delivery, the baby is only under water for about 8 seconds. don't worry! :)
