Too bad hk slumped on the American made guns for the civilian market by NOT putting a chrome lined barrel in the mr556a1. Tried to bs and say that it was better. But then why does the hk416 which is competing for a contract btw, have a chrome lined barrel. Lmt piston is prolly next on my list.
@kaihoosi1 I dont think the HK416 is in stock anywhere but I have heard that its possible to buy just the upper for about $4000? That would be kinda foolish right now though, because HK will be selling the MR556 to the public this year and its a complete gun for about $2900. Actual store prices will probably be priced similar to the SCAR and ACR though?
dont all they have to do is replace the DI system with a piston system? or just get any other piston ar (talking about the military) instead of the H&K model?
@Patriot5401 I think HK is pushing the cost savings issue for the military to be able to just buy the piston uppers at a huge cost savings to the tax payers. I talked to the HK guys at Shot Show and the only thing they would confirm is that you will be able to drop the uppers onto any mil-spec lower. Who knows what the military is going to do at this point? Our country's budget is in the crapper so I dont expect any major changes in small arms any time soon.
@vkigo3 No its not an Adams Arms system. At least as far as I know its not? Many companies are building their own systems from scratch. Adams Arms has become very popular and big names have agreed to use their system. I believe Sabre Defense is one of the big names that uses an Adams Arms piston system. Addax Tactical might be another?
@vkigo3 If you want to have a career in firearms you could go to a civilian armory school or join the military and have them send you to armory school. Focus on finishing high school and college first. Getting a degree in engineering would be very helpful if you want to build and design firearms thats for sure.
@mixflip thank you :) i really hope i get through i have designs for side mounted magazine 50 round minimal movement in the barrel / battery powered cycle of functioning and muzzle velocity , all powder will be used for accuracy and bullet distance in a smaller package , :) i wanna be the ext Eugene stoner or american Kalashnikov
