I played the hell out of Super Mario Bros. and yes, these are all good routes, but he makes consistently perfectly timed jumps over and over again which are exactly within a PIXEL of the collision boxes, which a human being cannot possibly execute that perfectly every single time.

@emovideomaker999 This run is a Tool Assisted Speedrun. Such runs are played with an emulator in slow motion with save states and rerecording.

However, the game isn't changed in any way, so everything done in this run can be done on console and works the same on console.

The reason why he can touch certain enemies like that is because of the hitboxes being a lot smaller than the enemy sprites. This is neither a cheat or a glitch.

@jpreston666 The flowers' hitboxes are very bad. This results in Mario being able to touch parts of them without him dying.

The turtle at 3:30 is a hit that looks very weird. But the reason why Mario can hit the turtle is that the game is programmed that as long as Mario is in his falling animation, he'll land on an enemy no matter where he hits it. This means you can hit turtles from below like that.

The run isn't using cheats, but you should note that it is a Tool Assisted Speedrun.

This is a TAS, and it's also out-dated. Both TAS and non-TAS records are 5 minutes flat.

@DiosGX Andrew never made a TAS of this game. He beat his own speedrun however. He previously had 5:00 but got 4:59. He's still attempting to improve it. It's not possible to beat the TAS on console at least, which he hasn't done either.

This run is also very old (Over 7 years). The WR on console is about 5 seconds faster and the TAS (What this is) record is 11 seconds faster.

@BrcCmplfan He didn't used Game Genie, it would be cheating if you see a Game Genie screen before the author begins the game, but this kind of emulator doesn't do Game Genie or cheats.

This is a tool-assisted speedrun, used by an emulator, using savestates, rerecords to undo mistakes, and slow speeds and fast speeds. This run is to entertain without losing time and getting the best time as possible, not trying to show skill.
