I loved this series, I wish they were all dubbed, or maybe I just can't find them. I always thought Ogat was a badass I wish it would have finished like the manga. This Anime also got me into Go, too bad im not very good :P

I love the anime storyline. but actually Hikaru is better. Cos' Akira started at 2 while Hikaru started at 12 plus Akira was coached by Touya Meijin and in the end? Both pros and equal and Akira became a pro at 12 and Hikaru 13.

Everytime I see this ending. Now don't get me wrong, I love the anime but it disappoints me that anime was cut short and that the International Youth Tournament plot was never animated into the anime series itself. It feels like the anime was unnecessarily cut short. But i like the anime.

@gamemaster1598 Wow, she definately does "teleport" in. xD I guess they thought no one would notice that she doesn't walk into the screen, but pops up in it. xD If you read the manga, there was an extra bonus, which could have been expanded upon into, like, a sequel or something. Well, I at least feel that way. Sadly, they were just there to prove that the process of learning Go is continuous.  Still...I wanted to see more too. :(

I love both the anime and the manga series. One of the main reasons being that the characters are ones you can connect with in real life, their struggles and such. Like that one part in volume 15 of the manga when Hikaru is studying Torajiro/Sai's old game records and bursts into tears. Every time I read those panels it makes me want to reach through them and give him a hug because I too lost someone very dear to me.

Well, honestly the art is much better, but then again, that is usually the case with manga and anime. Really the only difference that I can remember is the ending, since the manga goes through the Hokuto cup, and has that added bonus chapter with the Young Lions Tournament. I personally feel that it's worth reading the manga though.

This will always be one of my favorite animes. Probably my favorite, favorite. I loved the ending. I liked Sai but his disappearance was needed for the story. I love the character growth in this anime. You don't even notice them changing in character, or in appearance at first then you look at the last episode and compare it too the first and your like. Yeah that's the best of this anime, the characters growth. Someone who doesn't even know the game Go, becomes a master in it. A lot of animes have character growth in it, but mostly in a unrealistic way. Hikaru no Go did it in a very realistic way, step by step he is getting better.

No kidding. This anime is the best of the best, and probably my favorite series of all time. It sucks you in to a game that would normally be pretty mind-numbing unless you play. I mean, seriously. I almost cried when Hikaru finally made pro! I love Sai half-to-death...but I agree with wolfGiselle that is disappearance is needed for the story ^_^

Ah, but Sai...when Hikaru cried, I cried for so long...all I remember about this anime is the long period of tears. xD Ah, but that was just me realizing how well the anime connected Hikaru to Sai. Mangas offer the storyline, but animes seem to take it to another level. :D Yes, got to love Touya! I wish the ending didn't end the way it did, though...

Neither of them is ever really meant to achieve the hand of god, Sai is just there to further Hikaru's development, and Hikaru in turn will help further other people's development.
