i read when she was white which the true story of sandra laing, the real life woman.

would like to see the film.

to clarify she was identified as coloured (mixed race) who had more priviledges and rights under apartheid than those classified as black.

it was when she set up home with a black man that she was officially classified as a black.

its a truly fascinating storypost-apartheid as well, the story didn't just end with the reforms...

From what I understand her father fought all the way to the highest court to make her white and THEY WON. She later became colored , then classified as black. However it worked out it was an absolute travesty.

They did blood tests and both their Black looking children were theirs. It happens. It's not some kinda of mystery. It's just how genes work. Just as they do when it comes to every other thing about a human being.

That is not as good as a DNA test. This story predates DNA testing doesn't it.

I'm not sure of that. But I know that I have seen this happen. I know a white couple who gave birth to twins, one white and one black. And another couple, one black one white, who gave birth to twins as well, one black and one white. My cousin came out white looking with blonde hair yet both her parents are "black." So yeah..

Yes but she is still alive and she did do a DNA screen. Genetically shes mostly European but a ancestor 6x or 7x removed was a pure blooded African.

She also had a younger brother that was also black (black looking) too.

That was the first thing people thought but genetic test showed that she was "white" by definition. Well at least as white as her parents. It's actually not unheard of, but most of those babies probably end up in orphanages or aborted.

They did a fraternity test, and both her parents were confirmed.

She had recessive genes.
