  • Watched this video many times before and have finally obtained my CBT certificate today!

Just turned 17, had no experience what-so-ever and completed it on a geared 125 over the weekend.

When I was travelling at about 45mph-ish along a straight, I couldn't help but sing to myself: "born to be wiilllllllldddddddddd!!!!!" xD

  • Fuck as fuck - should be on Live at the Apollo!

  • I wanna do mine again please please please it was sooo much fun! JC motorbikes in Exeter what a day :D

  • @AugustInAdelaide

Mine won't be fun, I bet. I'll be fine once the emergency stop is done though, it's the scariest bit, if I drop the bike.

  • Bullshit ! If you did your cbt on a 50 then u can only ride and 50cc you cant ride a 125 dumb ass!

  • @SuperMizzaa No. If you are 17 and have a CBT you can ride a 50cc or 125cc regardless of what bike you did the test on.

  • Are you trying to say that if you pass CBT on an automatic, you can only ride an automatic? This is entirely false, I did my CBT on a Lambretta 50, and I am entitled to ride any auto or geared bike up to 125cc and 11kW. Unless they specific write in the restriction section that you can only ride autos, you can ride anything up to the limit depending on age.

(im reading from my certificate, I have it infront of me)

  • @Reincarnhate925 Correct I'll second that

  • Comment removed

  • @bonanno871 did u do it? and did you pass? how much was the cost? did you rent the bike? and what was the total cost?

  • @bonanno871 It gives you the rules here direct dot gov dot uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/PracticalTest/DG_178483

It says that the type of bike (geared or automatic) will be recorded on your CBT pass form and you can only ride the specific one.

  • @bonanno871 If you do your cbt on a provisional A licence and are over 17 on a scooter you can ride anything up to 125 with L plates for 2 years. You must do it on a geared scooter if you want to ride a geared bike. If you do it on an automatic you are then restricted to auto only.Generally if you don't have any licence at all the best thing to do is apply for a provisional then do a cbt on a geared bike privided by the test centre. You then have 2 years to do a full test or resit a cbt.

  • I have a car driving license, i was wondering if i need anything else such as a motorcycle provisional license or something to take the CBT.

  • @ady0211 It depends if you have a Provisional category A on your licence. Some older ones do. Mine does as I passed my car test about 20 years ago. If it doesn't have cat. A or cat.P on it then you need a provisional bike licence.

  • my instructor was a dickhead

  • ok i have been driving 12 years with a full car licence and use a mountain bike to work on road 5 days a week. i done my CBT and thought i would do it in one day ..........so what i have read on the internet is crap if anyonewho thinks they will do it in one day without any experience on a geared motorbike should think again .you should not get thru in one day. and if you do i would be very concerned for your ...i used to have a scooter no problem a motorbike takes a little getting used to...

  • @guitaneman Sorry bub but I did mine in one day. Having only once ever sat on a motorcycle. Quite honestly the hardest part was coping with the cold as I did it in February so a while into the actual on-road ride I was frozen stiff and my fingers were barely working.

Then 3 days later I was out on my brand new bike a little wary. The only mishaps that day were due to the brand new bitey clutch and a useless woman in a car not indicating on a roundabout.

You should be warning of them not gears

  • @scratchnsnifff Hi 1 day is wrong the company that put you thru your cbt in one day couldnt give a monkeys about you. i done a whole day and then 3 x 2 hour sessions not because i was crap but because they expected to see 100% cofidence and knowlege of the bike and hazards i would experience on the road....what i may have got diffrent to you is i got paired with another learner on every session so it took a little longer than it would one person.

  • @guitaneman Surely they wouldn't put someone out onto the road ill-prepared endangering their life?

I unlike yourself haven't been driving for 12 years. I did however do driving lessons which along with half a brain put me in a position where I can judge hazards effectively. Confidence is only a short term issue. Though I think there should be a theory test.

I was also paired up with an elderly gentleman for the on-road part.

No doubt the more time spent learning the better can't argue there.

  • @scratchnsnifff no disrespect to you all my traning i got was paired with another learner and alot of the time we spent talking about hazards we spent half of our first whole day just talking and then another 2 hours of going over hazards and the law stuff like filtering sitting down getting questions fired at you thats what i got. but riding a bike in this weather is awsome dont you agree i feel invincible on my bike until i see a coffin dodger driving a car in front of me ...oap help

  • @guitaneman No no mate I completely get where you're coming from. While I didn't find it difficult that's not to say I went out feeling like a pro seasoned rider. Still 5 months on I'm making mistakes! Keep popping it into neutral instead of second.. Bloody YBR gearbox..

I think you were trained properly and more like you are in a car. But I'm not going to complain because I got my bike as soon as I could to feel that freedom especially in this weather as you say. Dreading winter again though!

  • @scratchnsnifff dont worry about popping gears our instructor went thru false neutrals and gears it's all about feeling you will be in the wrong gear forget it do your mirror checks lifesaver then sort out your gears. the instructor i had has been doing it 15 years and he does the same in wrong gear so what observations then tap down.. i have a suzuki gz125 marauder and it fights me at lights i got it sussed though i test it for first gear at lights let the clutch out too see if it pulls

  • @scratchnsnifff if it dosent pull then i tap down to get first . i find i totaly dont know what gear i am in some times and stop in 3rd and try and find neutral ...tap tap tap done a funny thing the other day went for a cruise to a lake pulled up and the view was so nice i forgot to put the bike in neutral and let go the clutch lucky i had the brake half on the people around me wonderd why i shouted out grwwnmppph ahh

  • @guitaneman Yea that's the same way I learnt. It's when I've just set off from a junction and I'm turning when I go to click for second gear it sticks in neutral and *REVVVVV*.. Good job I've got a full face helmet...

It's almost as bad as when you've been chatting away to friends and there's a pretty lady or two there and you're about to set off, fire her up, mirrors, click down into first aaand *silence* left the bleedin' side-stand down!

You looking to go for your full test soon?

  • @scratchnsnifff yeah all bikes do the false neutrals so we all suffer it . i finnished my cbt 3 weeks ago i want to do the A2 licence but might just wait until next summer not in a hurry for a big bike i am 5'10 and 12 stone so 125cc pulls me fast enough. but i would do it sooner if i needed to use the motorways. ideally in 6 moths but i want to get thru my first winter with L plates ....LOL...

  • @guitaneman Ahhhhh you've got it all to come! February when I passed was freezing. Enjoyed going out still but now when it's cold I'm well wrapped up. I strongly urge if you plan on riding throughout winter (I'm undecided on if I will) to invest in some heated grips because the coldness in your fingers is enough to make even the burliest of men cry.

After 5 months I just want something with a little more poke to it (5'9 10.5-11 stone) and now I need to use motorways... My YBR hates A-roads!

  • @scratchnsnifff ohh no winter i hope we dont get one like last year . my instructor was laughing telling us about the heated clothing he has and when he does cbt traning in the winter watching the learners chittering in the cold. i will invest in the heated grips they will be needed i will get a shock big time though when the winter sets in my bike is a street bike dosent have a garage so might strip the bike down and store it if winter is really bad

  • @guitaneman I'd love some of them heated clothes but gloves/grips would do for me. Honestly man, you'll have never felt anything like it! I'm very much winter hardy, I'd rather be cold than too hot. Worked outside in 4/5 jobs I've had, but nothing comes close to 30-70mph ice cold wind, nothing!

Mine's kept in the shed, so it's away from the elements. I'd recommend a cover, at least for yours, to minimise corrosion and rust, and plenty of WD40 just give her a wipe down all over nice and shiny!

  • i would also get distracted by 'a women in short ,shorts'

  • heý_î_fËêl_só_lONèlÿ_tóÐáý

  • pause at 2:46 and thats the scooter i did my 50cc test on lmao

  • 0:50 roflll thats who taught me when i was doin my cbt

  • I own THE exact bike he is doing his CBT on, it's great and it's now on sale (I want a bigger bike now!)!!

  • @Damtronus how much... i'm looking one like that.

  • @TomasKatari Where are you in the UK?

  • CBT test is on bikes where u dont need to change gears, right ?

  • @madedd02 depends , on your age and the bike , but if you hire one it will just be a normal ped , no gears

  • love him man

  • Mike Williams is who I'm doing my CBT with now. Absolutely awesome guys, if you ever want to start riding I highly recommend looking them up.

  • I found that for a Honda CBF125 brand new it was;

    3rd party - £250

3rd party fire and fire theft - £380

    Comprehensive - £750

    Hope it helps :)

  • @krukadoodledoo

Hey i was wondering something, Am in the process of making my Provisional Licence and after that is made am looking to take my CBT test but before all that happens can i buy a motorcycle lets say a Yamaha YZF R125 before my provisional is created, I know i won't be able to ride it but can i still register it under my name

  • @masterhien if i understanand what your sayin yes , my 16th is 23/10/10 ,, i got my derbi senda in july and asoon as i bought it the registratio documents were sent off in my name , i got my provisional about month ago , so yeah ,

  • @1walcott4

Yeah but i haven't got my provisional yet, i can afford the bike now but can i still register the bike under my name without having a provisional licence.

  • WTF is this I'm looking for some cock and ball torture and this is what I get

  • hi guys i have a question

what is the aprox price of provisional bike insurance ?

geting qoutes is so time consuming

    thnks for ur answere.

  • i learnt with that instructor

  • hi guys i got my provisional , do i need to do my theory test before riding on provisional or do i just have to my compulsory basic training.

could i ride without doing my theory test/?

  • @1fancyblood if your riding a bike or a scooter as a learner you need to do your cbt you only need to do your theory test when getting your full licence

  • BOLTON!

  • I did my cbt last night and it wasn't too bad, bit scary when we went on the road for the first time but I managed it and I passed :)

  • lmfao peace of BEEP mike lol

  • The presenters of fifth gear are so stuck up. Top gear is like 100,000,000,000,000,000 times better.

  • @lplated94 you missed off about 20 more digits

  • @cruellordsoth lol. I would of used the rest of the available letter spaces if i could be bothered.

  • haha cbt is fun, but on the emergancy brake test i turned and fell face first into the ground hahaha

  • @philip075 ouch! It's good you can laugh about it though. I wouldn't if I'd have fallen on mine lol.

  • @jimmylad53 haha yea its just one of those memorys you can laugh about even if it was a little shock to you, ive fell off couple times now cause ice or rain :( but aslong as you wear the right gear and try stay alert then you shouldnt be in a lot of pain haha ;D

  • the eyesight test wasnt very far mine was about 25m away and i couldnt read it first time.

  • that instructor was very nice unlike some others

  • @edtrelfa its for the camera :L

  • @edtrelfa mate he was doin that for the t.v....i had him for my cbt and hes a fuckin cunt trust me

  • We took a trip to his home town of BOLLLUUTTOONNN

  • "overtakers...see you at the undertakers" sad but kinda true lmao

  • @mariancraig ? i overtake all the time on a 50 loooooool....

  • @JsmArtistUK And 2 months later? Stay safe mate. Overtaking on a 50cc is a matter of luck.

  • i love how the presenter says BOLTON lol :)

  • On the interwebz it says that you don't pass a cbt, you complete it... I r confused :S

  • @supermansamuel as long as you complete all the tasks in the day then thats it. you cant fail it its just abit of training before you hit the road

  • @th3dogkid when you do your cbt at 16 it has to be a 50cc.. but i think when youve hit 17 you can ride a 125..

im not to sure...but im doing my CBT soon xD

  • @th3dogkid if ure 17 or over then anything up to 125cc / 15bhp

  • @th3dogkid

you can ride a 125cc motorbike as long as you're 17 and have done a CBT

  • anyone can pass a cbt ahah

  • mummy's boy vids online now!

  • i passed in one week intensive course. Years ago before they brought in the new law about taking another test for powerful bikes.Friday 125cc Saturday Suzuki GSXR 600. Im still alive !

  • Comment removed

  • ffs is it hard?

  • @coltz1993 no m8 nwt to worry about

  • aight cool cool

  • what bike you got

  • haha

none yet.. but ima get one soon doe.

    125cc one prob

  • Yes, a 2 hour road ride is an absolute MUST!

It is part of the DSA CBT requirements, if the school who did your CBT did not take you out for 2 Hours they were breaking the law!

    Report them to the DSA!!

I work for a reputable training school and I'm sick of the cowboys getting away with it!!

  • hahahaha :P

i aint donbe my cbt yet but ima do it soon.

is it a 2 hour ride on my own?or with a few other peeps with me.

  • Maximum ratio is 4:1 for the off road part and 2:1 on the road

  • max they are allowed is two at once - generally 1hour in front each.

  • Comment removed

  • lol, english is so funny xD.

  • shouldnt he have been on a moped for cbt?

  • nah, they're automatic, he wants to ride a manual.

  • Comment removed

  • its a 125

  • CBT us funny every 1 falling off al over place

  • Now this has really shit me up he made this look soo hard iv only rode a pitbike a few times other than that i dont have a clue about bikes is it as hard as paddy makes it looks lol need to know terning 17 in 2 months !

  • It is pretty bad lol mainly cos there's a bit of bullshit in the stopping procedure at junctions in the test, i.e. you have to keep your right foot up on the back brake and use both brakes be4 junction despite going 10mph in first gear where clearly one would be sufficient, but they run you through until you get it right so don't worry too much about not getting it right 1st time.

  • Cheers pal thnxs for the help ! and i see you wont to join the marines i do also good luck mate !

  • how do i do a cbt

  • i sat mines today it was quite fun but just make sure u do life savers and indicate when u need to and u will be fine

  • do you need a persisional before you do your cbt

  • yep

  • I've got a Derbi Predator racing one mate. CBT is piss i was shitting it at first but it's good. And where i live it's £95 to take CBT with your moped/motorbike or £135 with theirs.

  • how much you pay for your bike???

  • ive got a derbi predator lc taking mine soon

  • WoW mate £95 is the moped cool were you live is it anywere near manchester ? cuz im going for mine soon and im shitting my self :S

  • PIECE OF *beep* MIKE!

  • When i took my CBT i was shitting bricks because im only 16 and i don't have much road experience. i was very confident and scared about the fact that i had to go on the road. But if your taking CBT and you are nervous don't worry i was the same you've just got to have confidence and believe in yourself and you'll be ok. I passed CBT today and it's really really easy i found the key part is to belive in yourself!

  • What bike you getting/or have got?

    Because I'm taking mine soon,

  • i LOVED my CBT. i had great fun, i'm only 16 too (Y)

  • "We took a trip, to his home town of BWOULTUN" Haha.
