Canada, Israel, and of course Switzerland, all have large civilian gun ownership and low crime. @autry33 - Self defence should never be a crime. Here in Canada, you cannot even use pepper spray (dog spray and bear spray are legal, but only for use on aggressive animals). You can own a handgun and keep it at home, but a second permit is required to be able to transport it to a local gun range for practise. You CAN get a permit to carry a concealed forearm for self-defence, but they are almost impossible to get and rules differ from province to province. Unfortunately.......

I live outside Indianapolis about 25 miles and every homeowner on my road (only 7) have guns. If any of us see anything odd or out of place we call the police and grab a camra along with a gun. We have never had a murder or a rape and it's a nice safe place to live. Most of us have HCL's as well and carry a gun every place we go. I also have a Utah HCL, teemed with my Indiana HCL, I can now carry in 36 states. It's true, gun's do deture crime and do save the lives of qulity people.

If you took guns out of our society, it would simply empower the strong against the weak and the elderly. Canada, Israel, and of course Switzerland, all have large civilian gun ownership and low crime. Guns do not cause crime, but they are used between 1.7 to 2.1 million times a year to PREVENT crime in America, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, an arm of the government here. @autry33 - Self defence should never be a crime. Here in Canada, you cannot even use pepper spray (dog spray and bear spray are legal, but only for use on aggressive animals). You can own a handgun and keep it at home, but a second permit is required to be able to transport it to a local gun range for practise. You CAN get a permit to carry a concealed forearm for self-defence, but they are almost impossible to get and rules differ from province to province. Unfortunately.......

They spell it out early on that you have a right to have fire arms. They never said anything about drugs, and for most of America's history you could use any drug you wanted. Now I'm not sure legalization would work, but keeping weapons out of the hands of honest Americans is a bad idea both legally and morally speaking.

I live outside Indianapolis about 25 miles and every homeowner on my road (only 7) have guns. If any of us see anything odd or out of place we call the police and grab a camra along with a gun. We have never had a murder or a rape and it's a nice safe place to live. Most of us have HCL's as well and carry a gun every place we go. I also have a Utah HCL, teemed with my Indiana HCL, I can now carry in 36 states. It's true, gun's do deture crime and do save the lives of qulity people.

philadelphia uses outstanding parking tickets as a grounds to deny ltcf applications, forcing many philadelphia residents to spend a lot more money for training classes from florida or utah to get their right to bear arms... the poor urban black and hispanic population might be put at hardship because of this "disarming the poor" technique... oh yeah philly denies for arrest record as well as youth record, not adult convictions. this is all in violation of pa state law
