Acording to my calculation this wave has about 81.964 feet. Put on full screen. With my screen size, the man measures 14 millimiters. The wave at is maximum measures 225 millimiters. Divide 225 by 14 = 16.0714... Multiply this number by is height (5.10 ft) = 81.964. Maximum wave height is about in the 24 second. I measured the top of the wave slightly to the right of the surfer foam track. The question is "wheres the bothom of the wave?" Still world record anyway...
If it was meant to be in Portugal, it had to be in Nazaré.
People from Nazaré have known the potencial of this beach for a long time, we use to watch how big, waves can get, mainly in the high tides season, which is about this time of the year. They normally make some damages to the buildings near the coast, but truth is, I never thought it would be possible a wave this BIG to happen in Nazaré.
Monster wave! The biggest caught in Portugal! This spot can be probably more dangerous than other places around the world with chanel..but this wave will never be 90 ft!
This IS one of the better edited editions of this event.
Many posts don't believe the expert testimony. This 90 ft. wave is measured in ways that inexperienced people cannot comprehend. The book "The Wave" by Susan Casey will help you all to understand how the measurement works.
Susan Casey's book is one of my favorits! I love how it even profiles G-Mac and guys like Laird Hamilton and Mike Parsons. Gives you great insight into the passion those guys have for the ocean in all its power and violence.

I'm sorry I don't know how much is 90 feet. In Portugal and on the rest of the world we use meters.

@theothersidebase
