I don't know what the system is like in Pennsylvania, and whether their teenage records will be expunged after a certain amount of time or whatever, but the officials who dished out those charges should really consider what having a child pornography charge might due to their future employment chances. Very weird, child porn is horrible but how can a child be charged with child porn (unless they do it to somebody much younger and/or force them), but when it's a child taking a picture of themself? Then they get labeled with that, possessing child porn. Only real criminals should be labeled with that.

I know this is an old video but i'll leave a comment anyway. I totally get what your getting at. But with that you leave out a big part. As a teenage boy getting naked pics from his girlfriend, he would naturally be stoked, but teenagers are also really dumb with showing all his buddies, who show their buddies and so on and so on, leaving a major issue. I can understand this law just as a safety net for all those kids.

i think it is double standards. if you are protected by child pornography laws than you should not be able to be charged by those same laws. the premise behind the child porn laws is that it exploits children because they are unable to consent. well if they are unable to consent than they didn't consent to breaking the law in the first place.
in this way i think the laws hold a double standard. either they can make decisions or not.

I think it's messed up to be sending the texts in the first place (but then again I have old fashioned views of keeping intimacy in the bedroom; and making sex and intimacy synonymous for that matter). While I think it's kinda harsh to charge them for doing something inappropriate, the ramifications of such acts do require some form of action to prevent it; and frankly, most teens who do do that aren't going to listen to "no sexting" propaganda videos.

Yes, those charges are absurd. I don't know what the system is like in Pennsylvania, and whether their teenage records will be expunged after a certain amount of time or whatever, but the officials who dished out those charges should really consider what having a child pornography charge might due to their future employment chances. Oh, and if I was a minor, could I just send nude photos of myself to anyone I wanted to saddle with a "Possession of Child Pornography" charge? It seems that easy!

All child porn is illegal and needs to stop. No matter what the case is it should stop if your a minor. There are over 100,000 child porn sites, mainly girls ages 13-17, they traffic them to do that (which trafficing is a crime as well). So your question is should they be charged yes.

It is ridiculous but when it comes to it, they have to press some charge since there was an arrest and every arrest must have a charge. May not actually be child pornography but some parts of it fall within the description so that's what the prosecutor has to go with.

From a biological standpoint, it's unlikely. If that's allowed then people, adults or children, could start having unprotected sex which would result in child-birth. A baby born to a mother too young has a high risk of having various defects. Thus, although it could happen it probably wouldn't for the sake of human biological advancement.

But this I think is so ludicrously stupid that there's probably more to the story. The truth is probably more like the kids aren't showing enough remorse or something, and now there's a tiny group of very insane adults desperately trying to find a way to Legally teach these kids a lesson.
