roy's body looks so soft.... his balance was all over the place.... this fight was the beginning of the end.... and roy still continues to fight.... madness....
for somebody who watched some of jones fights it's easy to see since the beginning that he had no power behind his punches and that made the difference, not the reach of tarver..
I think the weight loss attributed to jones loss BUT I do think that Tarver is a great boxer with excellent skills but I think Tarver would have won regardless of weight loss issue and the 2nd meeting jones was mentally beat by Tarver and had no fight and was just dominated :(
@babyboyproverty If Roy Jones truly believed he could have beat the top heavy weights, he would have stayed a heavy weight. I think Roy is one of the Greates middle weights in history, but he would not have beaten either Klicho or Lenox Lewis.
@Uprising771 I think Tarver was just the better fighter. He was bigger, stronger, and just as fast. He could also predict all of Roy's moves, which is something that no other fighter was able to do against Jones.
...From what i've seen in these rounds. Tarver is looking so sharp, focused & confident. First time I've seen a young Roy not being able to take his opponent's confidence. Also, by looking at his body; the weight definitely affected him(Roy). Not as strong as he once was before moving up to heavy weight.
@Hitman1190 jones speed went down as well. His reflexes changed....his speed wasn't like two fights before when he fought clinton woods his power too....like u said.
i agree roy should have retired after hes fight with ruiz and kept his title of world champ! but he was still the best fighter in the world at his time
Wait! Jones took Tarver's shines in this bout?!? C'mon, people...the challenger is supposed to decisively whoop the champ's ass and that's not what happened here. Tarver busted Jones up in this fight and everybody knew it so the PTB in boxing had no choice but to order a rematch...
roy fucked his body up going to heavyweight and going back down... he should have stayed at heavyweight to see what he could have done... damn that must have been rough sucking all that muscle mass... especially at roys age
jones lost that superior conditioning he had before the ruiz fight...he looks soft here..
