the explorer is a korina body. the epi version is korina colored, not korina wood. most are mahogany with a veneer. so it will not sound the same, it will probably sound darker, more bass than this one. korina is a superb resonant wood, light weight and well balanced. post a video of the sound, maybe we can help you pick different pickups.
