The amp volume is controlled by a guitar tech backstage who adjusts the volume so that Bellamy can get different amounts of feedback to change his sound, It's definitely more for sound purposes than theatrical....

@moleboy234 What appears to be the neck snapping off is just his strap. He uses thick leather straps with 2 wireless transmitter units strapped onto it so it's a pretty sizable piece of equipment. I think when it flew around, it made it look like the neck had broken.

It's the primary amp in some songs. For the rest, he uses two other cabs backstage. This is also heavily used for feedback.
The Amp is a Dickinson MKII - all valvestate. Packs 45 watts of sheer power (RMS of course!) for the low, low price of £4000.

so, there is a good chance that when he did that he meant for the neck of the guitar to go through the bass drum, that seems to be where he was aiming...
unfortunantly he missed (hitting the rotating floor that the drums where on) and he prb owned an awesome guitar....sucks..

Why WOULDN'T the guitar be alive. There doesn't seem to be any damage done to it in the video. No parts flying, etc. A change of the strings and the Glitterati would be back in action.

@2022ArtIsResistance I've read some where in the 1990's that was the case, until someone got injured badly and sued the artist. then ppl stopped throwing guitars at the audience.
in an intreview, matt mentioned he only breaks guitars when he's really frustrated with it or the gig.

I wonder if this is going to become a tradition for him in Seattle. I was at the Seattle concert last time they played a show at the Arena in 07 where the Midi Manon (which he didn't bust up on stage, but still) was replaced with the Seattle Manson, and I was at this concert and watched him bust up this one (soo rock n roll!) I wonder what it will be replaced with..or what's next.

It sure looked like the neck. Nothing to fear, though... if it was the neck, just a simple sand, fill 'n drill operation.
I think that was THE Glitterati. As far as I know, there is only one. It didn't look like an MB1, because the Mb1 has a humbucking sustainer in the neck position, whereas the actual Glitterati has a single coil size.
I don't know. It should be fine, though. I'll ask Hugh next time I'm in Exeter.
