I frankly don't care what's on this motherfucker's iPod. And before you "attack" me, I'm a Chicago native, a 40-year classical pianist and a huge fan of the CSO under Solti. So there.
The woman who speaks is Deborah Rutter. She, along with those of us who were on the MUSIC DIRECTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE, made Riccardo Muti's CSO directorship possible. I was on that committee, and I can say that she responded to the Chicago Symphony's desires in pursuing Riccardo Muti. He is in the hospital now, but wait to hear what he will do with us in the next 4 years! He is a marvel.
@slidemaster, why so defensive? I think it was a great question, and I think Rutter was either annoyed by it, or trying to move on from what appeared to be a long-winded answer... but I think it was a little of both. What makes a person great comes from what inspires them. A musicians play list, an authors favorite book, an artists favorite painting. With the direction of "change" the CSO says it's going, I think this was the perfect question. You do, after all, have a younger audience too
@ProducerPaulEggers A cellist in the Orchestra, has commented that the women is Deborah Rutter, Executive Director of the CSO. She should be commended for her work in bringing Muti to Chicago. Draw your own conclusions about her interruptions at his introductory press conference in 2008
So much for "ProducerPaulEggers". The off-screen voice is that of Deborah Rutter, the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR of the CSO. You know, #1, CEO, top banana, main boss? Paul Eggers, a producer who doesn't do his homework? Good luck getting back into the Hall with an attitude like yours. BTW, I'm a cellist in the CSO.
@slidemaster Fair comment. I should have researched the attendees at that press conference from roughly 2 years ago to correctly identify the woman. Her work to bring Muti to the CSO certainly deserves recognition.
@slidemaster 'good luck getting back in the hall w/ an attitude like yours' lol i think i would rather have Paul Eggers in there than a 1/2 audience that sleeps through concerts and a 1/2 audience who coughs. DRuttrs' work 2 bring muti in might be fine, but she sure was annoying as f____k and does not know how to allow someone to conduct a press conference and that is as fair a comment as urs.
I hav so much respect for this man, he works so hard, he cannot even appreciate wht he is doing yet so modest about the eccellent conducting he does. Fantastic!!
Its the only video I could get of the CSO. Its not even at Chicago's Orchestra Hall. Maybe when Muti steps in full time, the CSO will invest in production for a Muti DVD.

I love 0:17.
stravinsky is so recognisable even from 3 seconds of bad quality sound.

I used to think Muti had no personality and when I heard he was doing the CSO, I thought, Oh Oh,
not a Solti here for the CSO. Yet watching this Youtube, I am impressed, hands down, he's
got a bit of humor and humble deliverance. Now I can go to nearby Philadelphia and trust him for a good session with the Philly Orchestra.
