Just been listening to Ice Age by Warsaw (later to become Joy Division) - so many similarities. Oh, and just for the record this is tremendous stuff !!! My granny lived in Lochee and a lot of this vid seems to be what was a the back of her house (4 Fullerton St - end house) - I am sure that is the side of the house at 2.34 to 2.39 ? I recognise so much of this as it reminds me of the 60's & 70's Lochee. It bloody haunts me and makes me feel so sad but at the same time happy x
yeah man this is some good stuff. I wasn't alive at the time and this is a bit of a double whammy for me cos I recently bought all the messthetics cds which the band were on a lot of, but also cos I lived in Dundee for a few years. Ace
I couldn't agree more. I grew up in Dundee in the late 70s early 80s and had never heard of them. But what can one expect going to a shitehole like H*rris Academy ! I caught up with them last year though, and even bought the CD copy of "Revelation", the last copy apparently.
This is "Night Train", the 5th from "Revelation". I've been in contact with "Smeg" (Craig) the singer. They're not sure about producing more yet. They also did a tape album (Total sales 100 !) called "Auchmithie Forever", which Craig was asking me if I'd be interested in. Of course I said yes, so he said he'd keep in touch. But They're all busy people now I suppose (shame !) - jobs, families, the usual things that get in the way of good music haha!! Yes, the movies give it all a certain edge !!
well I have the files on my computer, but the quality on YouTube is quite good, especially as the CD had to be recorded from an old vinyl record (you can hear some scratches on it) as the masters had got lost.
That is so ridiculously common, even John Lydon (Johnny Rotten) of the Sex Pistols was complaining about the masters being lost for some of their material !!
Well, yes and no. Punk has had more than it's fair share of this happening, but it has happened to other groups as well. I seem to recall a big fuss because a bunch of "Beatles" masters got lost. And you being in the US maybe won't know about the astonishing BBC policy of wiping video tapes of classic TV serials like "Doctor Who" and "Dad's Army", where the BBC have even made public appeals, and material has been found in garden sheds, attics, foreign TV stations, skips, etc, etc !
That is hilarious. I wouldn't doubt it, if someone has the original masters. That is funny. As I recall, someone went to a garage sale in New York and found something very rare from the Velvet Underground. I can't recall if they were masters or what...but people were ecstatic about the find.

I think people just throw them away. I mean, who would really think that anyone would have truly cared about some punk rock masters, back then???
