I see that some comments are about war and what is the actual state of Vietnam...

*sigh* why can't everyone forgive each other and live in peace...? just listen to this song and relax... 5/5

  • What a nice video. Thanks for posting. I am Vietnamese American. I left VN when I was 13 years old 28 years ago. Growing up in America, I appreciate what this country has given me, the land of opportunity and freedom, and I am proud to be an American. However; I will never forget my root, where I was born, the beautiful Viet Nam. I do love all the people. That's it, you are human, and life is too short. Peace, not war

  • very true , im a 22yo vietnamese living in saigon , my family is the 'communist' family , i mean my grandfather and uncles all went to war , but in my generation ,i feel like talking about war is a big waste of time ,why dont we talk about love and peace

    UNE TETE POUR MENDES !

    UNE TETE POUR MENDES !

    UNE TETE POUR MENDES !

  • Check out "Vietnam, Mon Pays" by VietnamChris on You Tube. It's a much more authentic song written by a native Vietnamese, not by Frenchman without known connections to Vietnam.

  • yoiu sound stupid...with yoiur comment

  • TittlePending: And you look like an imbecile with your atrocious spelling. It's "you", not "youi" and "your", not "youir". Get back to kindergarten, you little pile of turd!

  • Vietnam, Mon Pays by VietnamChris is a much more moving and authenthic number. It's also on You Tube. Go there and enjoy!

  • Viet Nam ...We're Flying ....

  • Listening to this song and watching the slide pictures really make me feel sad and sorry for my own country. Who knows when the vietnamese people in VN will be strong enough to stand up and fight for their freedom/human rights

  • brings tears to my eyes watching this. thank you for this vid.

  • Very nice. I too have the memories of the war in my mind and in photos. Some day I would like to return to Vietnam. The culture, the people and the country are truly beautiful.

  • let´s enjoy the song! politic isn´t our topic hear!

  • Unfortunately politics is undissociable from life...

  • Most people are peaceful and want to be left alone unless they're invaded, or whipped into a frenzy by their leaders for political/economic/geopolitical reasons under the guise of patriotism, independence, freedom, democracy, etc., etc.

  • So nice people! I was never there but I know it is peaceful. I never anderstand the war american politique are crazy!

  • It's not only American politics. The Vietnamese fought the Chinese, the French, the Americans, the Cambodians, and among themselves. The Vietnam War was essentially a war between North and South, both pawns and victims of the big powers rivalry before and during the Cold War.

  • Sorry the american politics is .....

War is not the solution to have peace!!

America make war but lose allways! Count the war from America in the last 30 years!!

  • So I have seen you are from france also they made a bad experience in the far east! People learn by bad and good maybe more in bad experiences!!

  • Camel, Trust me, it's not peaceful as the pictures show. I came from there, so i know exactly what i am saying.

  • deva2005: Have you been there recently though? It's as peaceful if not more so than the photos shown in this video. Much more beautiful. Also you talk about freedom and human rights, how are they now compared to those under the Thieu/US regime? Tiger cages on Con Son Island, torture chambers in Chi Hoa Prison, indiscriminated killing under Operation Phoenix, the My Lai Massacre?

  • tom3605, I just came back to Vietnam last 3 weeks ago. And 2 be honest with you, my feeling's remained the same. Vietnam has some what changed. Many people are concentrating on making money, but pretty much forget about democracy and human's right. I'm sure there are few people, who are trying to get their freedom, but it's going to take time before it'll happen.

  • tom3605, (continue to my earlier note).

During the Thieu, Vietnam was almost the top of all the SouthEast Asia. Vietnam was even on top of HongKong, and Singapore. And Recent survey just showed that Vietnam is behind Singapore 110yrs (that is more than a century behind). So, if you tell me that Vietnam is somewhat peaceful like the picture shows, then i suggest you to revisit vietnam and dig deeper.

  • deva2005: The figure used by people who longed for the old day was totally wrong and misleading. The US did indeed spent the average of US$62 billion in today's money per year between 1964 and 1972 but much of it was spent on arms and munitions to destroy Vietnam, not to build it. Of that amount, the Thieu clique only got about 5% a year, most of it was for buying war materials from US companies for similar destruction!

  • tom3605, i'm not planning to reply to ur comment. But this will be the last comment that i wil reply to u. The survey is not from those who long for the old day (that's only what you think), but it's from people (civilian). Also, $62bil in this generation is totally not worth as much as 35-40yrs ago. When you do statistic, you should not just base on the #, but you should also be base on the generation, the people, the living environment, and what everybody wants.

  • tom3605 (continue to my first comment) But like I said from my previous note, I know Vietnam is changing, but the changed is not much focus in people, but more focusing in the government and what they can benefit from the foreign business.

please dont post anymore comments, because your ideas, believe and theories are totally different than mine. There's no point of going back and forth. thanx

  • deva2005: I know you wanted to have the last word but since you're less than half my age and even younger than my children (I know you're only 31), I have the obligation to inform you so you won't be too mislead. I know the time-value of money, the $62 billion has been adjusted for inflation so everyone would know what it would cost today. The actual figure back then was $13.8 billion/year.(see next comment)

  • deva2005: (continued) The Thieu regime, for its loyal but incompetent servitude, only got 5% of that (i.e. $690 million/year) as a handout so there was no way Vietnam was on top of Hong Kong and Singapore as you claimed
