  • I guess I fell in lvoe with her through the Abbott & Costello movies when I was a kid. I forgot how amazing her vocal qualities were until I ran into your posts. THANK YOU! Jo Stafford is one of the best voices I've ever heard. Always will be one of my favorites.

  • ...and PERFECT PITCH!

  • Absolutely love it. Thanks for posting i've been a fan of Ms Stafford for 11 years and i'm just 25. She had a lovely voice especially her rendition of "This Is Always"

  • I must say that this made my day. she was brilliant, slopy, and unshaved. she was so lesibian. Hate her voice and everything about her! Damn I hate her.

It took me 2 minutes to fcking write this. Give me the minutes back. the is what I call waste of time. she would sound better when she get burned in a oven.

  • Jo Stafford could please our ears by singing one single note. She was also one of the great ladies of the song.

  • Great song!! It´s magic!

  • I must say Ms Stafford has a beautiful voice At 40 something years old I grew up with Rock but am starting to find an appreciation for Dean Martin Patsy Cline Rosemary Clooney Etta James and now Ms Stafford so wonderful I am open to other suggestions to listen to if anyone has them this generation has been overlooked music wise lately and that is a shame it should be upheld as a standard to strive for THANK YOU

  • @aerhaz agree agree agree

  • angerredfire,

JO Stafford was renowned for having perfect pitch and so she was a great favourite with the sound recording engineers of those days...However, She also had a talent for mimicry and sing 'Hill Billy' style and she also won a grammy as one of her alter egos 'Darlene Edwards' who sang OUT of tune...She also sang under the psudonyme 'Cinderella G Stump' on the record Tim-Tay-Shun with Spike Jones & his City Slickers...It is in my videos on my channel profile.- try it.:)

  • Just checked your profile, and I find that your musical tastes are indeed eclectic, and equate with mine! My favourite also included in your list of favourite films. It is "Once Upon A Time In America" I just love that haunting "Amopola" tune.

Anyway, let me thank you for your great postings. I will get through them all shortly.

We also came into this world around the same time! I am 72 years young.!

  • Corrie121 ,

What makes Once Upon a Time in America one of my favourite films is that it covered four decades both in history and in music. making for a brilliant soundtrack.

My first memory of 'Amapola' was a version by Tommy Dorsey with his two band singers Bob Eberley and Helen O'Connell - a great combination.

.By making it Debora's "Theme" Serge Leone was able to keep coming back to it throughout the film.

Many thanks for your interest and your comment.

My best wishes for the future.:)

  • Lovely!!

    She has a brilliant voice.

(Must admit I love her singing with Gordon Macrae best of all)

  • Hi Gilli,

Long time no speak!...How you doing my lovely?

    Keeping well I hope.:)

I have only eight tracks of Jo and Gordon duetting but I will sort them out and put them on youtube. :)

    Take care,

    TC
