  • if i ever did a LARP (me and my friend are looking into it) i'd so create a Dovakiin character for me to play, not to be overpowered but just for the awesome part when you get surrounded and you shout FUS RO DAH !

  • @fortunos Respect to you , dude!

liked , faved , and subbed the f*ck out of this video!

im even thinking of LARPing sonner or later!

  • ahh, we meet again 240p

  • where do i sign up?

  • i wanna do this so bad, i have tried to find a larp place near me but there isn't. well there kinda is but its still far away. but still i hope one day to get to do this :) i just love this idea. me and a friend of mine used to do something similar a few years ago, i had no idea it would have been considered larping though, but it was so fun :)

  • To me LARP is really a form of art. And just like other art - it can look terrible when done bad but be great and inspiring when done well.

  • You know there is a forum you can roleplay on that also has a wiki for any characters you create, its really extensive and makes rping really easy. if you like roleplaying you should check it out, its where I RP

    its:

    roleplaylegends . com

And tbf even if you just like Larp'ing you could always make profiles for the characters you play on there, could be interesting. Goodluck with it! and great video!

  • What is LARP?

    Shit, thats what it is.

  • I love LARP and I have practiced with my friends for years but have no local LARP groups pr anything that I can join. If anyone is in my area or knows of anything local to me please let me know, I live in the St. Louis area and I am willing to travel about an hour or two away. Please help.

    Thanks

  • Before watching this i thought "meh, i might aswell waste 5 minutes of my pointless life"

    I am now a LARPer! :D

    thanks for posting this ;)

  • if i ever did larp.( which im thinking bout trying) id wanna be a elf spy with a gray cloak

  • Tis Mars the bringer of War!

  • @Darkwaterotter

its quite a good piece. one of my personal favourites!

  • if they want to fight, go join the army

  • looks really fun, I aim to try this at least once

  • Love this! :D epic job! what grade did u get on it? lol

  • I was just thinking.. what if there was a bear in those woods.. seriously.. but i remember you are Warriors of Orin Rakatha...

  • I am so happy I discovered the world of LARP

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • lol this is the group i LARP with way befor i joined

  • I'll stick with SCA heavy fighting. It actually teaches you a historical fighting art-form (instead of just swinging around a sword with very little development of technique), and toughens you up.

  • @KaiserBrandon340 LARP isn't meant to toughen you up. It's for fun.

  • @nintendodude200 Ya, I can see how it would be fun. Though It's much more exhilarating (for me at least) if you're using unpadded (excluding thrusting tips of course) rattan sticks. Pretty much the closest thing you can get to actual medieval combat without risking killing each other. It's basically Nerf vs. Paintball.

  • Wear a cup.

  • Check out our Larp Videos for an insight to Larp :)

    Larpitup

  • hahaha this is mature

  • i know people take the piss out of the guys and girls who do this, but hell...its does take alot of bottle, so in a way i respect them, their not out hurting anyone. So good luck to them!

  • hamsters

    bring magic in

    lolol

  • My sister just compared my WoW playing to LARP. /killself

  • these fuckin virgins would kick my ass and i'm not afraid to admit it lol

  • Do peope honestly take this shit serious?

  • As retarded as this looks.....it seems to be a retarded kind of fun.

I like to think myself a bit of an actor so this MIGHT be fun for me......

  • 19 people have lives !!!!

  • The first time I ever saw anything like this was in Role Models and Ive wanted to play ever since.

  • LARP if for noobs fuck it

reenactment is for the real boys

  • For LARP you only need one thing. Guts. You need the guts to do something different then the crowd, and have a fun time instead of acting all tough and gangsta. We won't be the ones who get in trouble later because of something stupid we did, those hiphop idiots will.

  • @fortunos Yes very nuanced, thank you for that

  • @fortunos you obviously are racist against another culture. go fuck yourself with a toy sword faggot

  • @STF4HH I would be the last one that is racist. It's just so easy to hate the people that hated me for my entire life. Yeah. I'll do whatever the fuck I want. And don't call Mainstream a culture. Mainstream is just an ignorant group that follows what they see and hates all that is different. I hate the mainstream because the mainstream hates me. I'm not racist, nor am I prejudiced. I judge by what I see. And I've seen enough of the mainstream already. So that makes you the racist here.

  • @fortunos shut the fuck up

  • @STF4HH Oh wow. Very mature. Can't you handle a simple argument?

  • @fortunos The gangstas are actually roleplaying too (playing a tough careless rebel) they just don't know it :D.

  • @fortunos Id love a chance at LARP but don't know really enough people to do one : / I know 3-4 people (me included) that would

  • @Bladenavor Try looking up a group somewhere near you. You'd be suprised how many people actually like things like this. Just look around on the internet. Google is always your friend!

  • Could you make another?

  • @cjmation7 Make another? do you mean another larp documentary?

  • @Harlandstudioes Ya or something to do with larp

  • You mean what we do is just role playing? ergh, I thought we were all real! :)

LARP is a way of LIFE! HUZZAH!

  • I dont care how lame this looks, it seems like tons of fun

  • @CardTheTrader It is alot of fun. You get to use your imagination. You get to runa round and stuff. And most of all. It's in the outdoors. As opposed to sitting in front of a computer screen playing an MMO. Th epeople who talk smack about LRP/LARP. Are too afraid to actually try it.

  • love the backdrop thats an awsome location.

  • As a simulation it is a lot of fun.

A set scenario and objectives make the game really interesting too provding players have the right amount of gear.

  • You know, LARPIing sounds kinda like having monster fights on halloween- ya get to do something not seen everyday. :P

  • level 12 fire ball to the face. i'm sorry sir your credit card is still declined

  • hey guys great vid!

anyone know a website that teaches you how to play larp? you see i have a bunch of friends who want to try larp out but there are no larp groups in my city so were creating one. we have a good inkling on what it is and are pretty sure how to play but we want to make sure were right. If anyone knows one please tell me

  • @travelerman3 There is not specific site that teaches you how to play as far as im aware. Best you can do is probably find a published Larp rule system. As to no Larps in your city, thats a shame, but i must ask if you have checked your local university which seems to be the largest source of local Larp systems. Sorry i couldnt be of more help

  • @travelerman3 Start ur own. just an idea

  • #omg this is super awesome

  • Awsome video

  • I have no problem with LARPing. Hitting people with foam swords is a nice stress reliever. Although the dudes running around with beanbags and shouting lightning bolt. C'mon ya cowards, get in the fight! I'd target those guys first. :P

  • I think they base this analisys on a 'mental badger'

  • @Zarochimaru ohh, resorting to ad hominem, very original

  • LARP is nothing like reenactment he talking bull shit

  • reenactment is a silly way to put it. . . . .

  • @Aserox yes, more like enacting. enacting a story of fiction or fantacy, i.e. acting, or play acting, tis alot of fun if you can get into it. but yes re-enacting is a silly way to put it i agree

  • hmmm a one-word monosylabic insult, infering the object of your scorn has a sexual preference different from your own. How very....american.

  • Hi all, im one of the interviewees Angelous. Firstly thanks to everyone for the votes of support etc that have come in.

To the people looking to try, its a bit of a dig around online but normally its worth it to find a local event.

To the people who look down on us, thats your choice, we do not live with our parents, we can hold normal conversations and all we ask is try before you judge. Infact most of our locals are students...

  • its great interaction being silly, and socializing. Its a live action vidio game, were we all socialize, make friends, even go camping form time to time!

    MWG, Fayth.

  • Larping is very creepy. And I do in fact Larp myself. I suppose what i mean is from others perspectives it's in Humankind's nature to shy away from the unknown (as in shitting on others hobbies because they differ from their own).

  • I think the one good thing that larpers have going for them, is that if someone was to take notes on every larp scenario that they came up with, they could write a pretty epic fantasy novel.

  • @ Galden172007. Those often fear what they cant understand. Some people are creative and have an imagination it seems you lack both. larp is great and there are no downsides. Only worthless scum who think they are better because they think having fun is nerdy and would rather insult people for having fun rather than making their own

  • go larp!

its so nerdy and thats why i love it

is there a larping group in south wales inn the blaenau gwent area?

do any of you know of one ?

and is there an age limit (im 13)?

  • this looks really nerdy....But who dosent want to get drunk and then charge into a bunch of people swinging shit around. Come on. The whole magic shit kinda killed it though.....

  • i wont to do this

  • @Galden172007

Hey, they are getting outside instead of sitting alone in the dark.

Also, this stuff started in the 1970s, before those computer RPGs.

  • @Galden172007

LARPers get out of the house and get face to face social connections. Why be at home alone when you can be fantastically nerdy with friends outside/somewhere other than a desk or table?

  • and you need to go try it instead of sitting behind a computer getting fat and looking for things to bitch about. all your precious console rpg's originated from the original rpg's like D&D. and what makes you think they need to get a life? do you KNOW these peaple? have you had a conversation with them? many larps take place once a month, how many times a week do sports players go to practice/games?

  • when you think about it, these larpers have more of a life than the the jocks or arrogant bastards that constantly torment us. you know, like you.

  • @capone1995 I am not a jock lol. I am a nerd. But I also go out and play basketball and go for walks. LARPers are creapy....it's really friggen weird.

  • and have you ever tried it? how can you judge that which you don't understand?

  • @capone1995 Please tell me what there is to understand. lol it's a bunch of grown men who still live with their mothers running around in dresses throwing pretend lightening bolts at each other. I'm just saying it's creepy.

  • first off read the rule book. theirs A LOT to understand. and second, I can guarantee you that most people who play this do not live with there mothers. and third, were the hell did you see dresses. and fourth, why the hell do you even care? do you just enjoy pissing on peoples hobbies?

  • dood i wanna do this so badly

  • can somebody tell me if you find a club like this in the u.s

  • @TheStinger2010 I would suggest looking on the internet or checking out your local gaming clubs. As Far as im aware there are alot of LArp clubs in the U.S

  • @Harlandstudioes Literally all it takes is find your city or city closest to you and type into google, LARP groups in (City name) :) I found 10 or 12 here in the middle of bumfuck nowhere

  • @TheStinger2010 WELL it depends were you search as well, Ive been looking for a LARP with a few friends of mine, we couldn't find one that ones ROLEPLAYING without it begin a vampire club, I was telling my friends "I want to fight with a sword not my teeth" They agreed, so we decided to make our own larp, We are pretty sure its on eof the most unique LARP groups, if your interested in more details, yeah We are in us. send me a message.

  • i wouldnt mind taken a larp video but instead showing it like it is id add special effects

  • I'm so quitting the army and doing this instead

  • why is larp like this?, just 2 teams attacking each other on an open plain

better tactics would maybe make me want to do this

maybe one side ambushes the other team or one team throws water ballons to kill the enemy, not just 2 teams going to some open plain and attacking each other with hand weapons, kinda boring

or many smaller teams get bases around a forest and each team can try to ambush the bases, a bit like castles...more tactics, more fun

  • @akumie Well the people who put this video on selected the most action packed bits but the actual game involves much more role playing.

For instance me and my friends have a clan of halflings who pick pocket for a living.

  • haha yeah but epeople like me who watch many larp videos on youtuve usually get the idea that its all just charge people in costums

  • @akumie

It's not just about fighting strategy etc.

I play at a LARP and I almost never participate in battles, I mostly use social manipulation and politics within the world to effect things.

  • I'd love to try this

  • larpsa.webs. c o m/ if your in South Australia and interested in LARP

  • большую работу большое спасибо за акцию. :)

  • Вы для вашего добросердечного комментария :)

    I hope that translated correctly

  • it's actually great fun. ppl call it nerdish but if they tried it they would have a blast.

  • im going to make join Larp and make my armor out of American eagle and hollister and watch the nerds run ahahahahahahahahaha

  • agward!

  • nerds rock i mean i wold love to do this it looks like grate fun + y shold i cear about what pepole think of me and supernaturality gust get a wast coat and a linen shirt

  • you know... as weird as this is to me and as strange as some of these people seem... when it comes down to it pretty much all of us do some sort of "LARPING"

Paintball, Airsoft... is a form of it I suppose

  • That's because you're ignorant. Soroki has the right idea, and all you can do is attack him with a gay joke.

    Your trolling, or you're stupid.

  • I think if more people did this sort of stuff instead of being scared of what other people will think of them, the world would be a better place.

  • I love when the ignorant bash on this stuff. Do you call movies gay and nerdy? Do you call theatrical performances gay and stupid? No. And what is this, other than a movie that isn't filmed, or a fantasy movie? Before movies existed, people did this kind of thing in front of crowds for entertainment purposes. So I ask all of you ignorant fuckers that bash it:what's wrong with it? It's just a performance.

  • reply to Soroki: correction they do call theatrical performances gay and stupid because they cant comprehend art.

  • I didn't actually say that larp was art. I said theatrical performances were art. but now that I think about it, theirs alot of back story around this stuff. if you ask me role playing is an art.

  • And you base this expert analysis on......?

  • it looks to mclovinish for me i would rather do paintballing or sumink

  • Instead of starting the documentary with the music you did you should have palyed the start of Teddy Bears picnic....

  • heh that looks like fun xP

  • To be honest, I'm a very nerdy D&D player and LARP always piques my curiousity- doubt there'd be much a crowd for LARP in Leicester, though. Also the cost of costumes and equipment, etc; I'm quite up-tight about my characters looking good on PC games, so I bet I'd be worse in real life! Yeah, I'm conforming to the stereotype, but screw it. Nerds rule.

  • Nerds are the best.

    :I

  • I often find roleplaying to be very useful in creating and developing charicters (and just havin' a rockin good time!:D). As a Peforming Arts student i can often use my rp experiances to influence my performances on stage as well.....

Its always good, and shows skill, to be able to almost effortlesly change your persona into someone(or something) completly different, and then act it out in charicter...

Try it, it will be good 4 u :)

  • I think it's awesome and i would love to protect them from anyone who tried to bash them

  • we don't need protecting. we can handle ourselves.

  • Hey, I would like to start LARPing, but i cant find a group in Edinburgh and what is the age limit. (I'm 13)

  • It's so nerdy but looks like great fun. :D

  • People who bash LARP think they are too cool to act out or try to have some real fun. they are to worried about what mtv thinks

  • Ahaha. AMEN! Be yourself. Try new stuff. Have fun with it!

  • Haters being hypocritical. I respect someone who says 'LARPing isn't for me, but it's good you enjoy yourself'. Why diss living a fantasy life, having fun, getting to be someone different for the time, forgetting your real life problems, sharing COMMON interests with MANY friends, with little or no real life arguing?

Haters will mock this then go play computer games which are effectively the same thing with no interaction with real people. This came from someone who doesn't LARP as well.

  • i dont see why people think people who do LARP are nerds, theyre just having fun, i would love to do it if there was one around here

  • why watch it and then be dicks

    they are having fun..

    its not affecting you

    shut the fuck up !

  • nice film

    Larp rules

  • What I dont like is in alot of videos if you hit someone they dont die and use hit points why just have it when you hit someone they die or get injured depending on where the hit is.

  • hit points would be hard to use... say a person gets hit 3 times in a fight against one guy... then moves to another fight... you have to trust everyone to be honest about their hitpoints at all times... and if anyone is dishonest then you cant fairly fight them

  • I saw Larp on a recent video thingy...If i were to try this one day i'd much rather run around with an AEG....Big advantage they have Close range weapons.. Or i could just go do Airsoft battles...

  • What is larp? Epicly fun. Simple.

  • i'm a german role player xD ist very funny xD the best i ever had ... i told an orc: you mother sucks c***s in hell!!! he answerd: and if shes doing i'm proud!!!!!

  • That's right, and you like or don't like Larp?

  • ROLE PLAY I LOVE IT thousands after thousands does it over here

  • If anyone watching this is interested in LARP around the Modesto Turlock Tracy areas and all the ZARNO LARP come join us or type it in on youtube any questions just message me and ill be happy to answer

  • hey i love D&D but this looks funner but idk if there is one in sourthern oregon

  • any larp groups in california?

  • yeh im going there in about half hour come along, ill be taking my massive pork sword

  • Try the SCA, they hit harder and you can learn about the middle ages too

  • Ummm... well at leatst it gets them outside... I guess.

  • dude that i not very mature

    come on

i never played LARP but i would love to try first before calling people nerds

i don't call jocks dumb asses just cause they are good in sports

    come on man

    not cool

  • Courage is not the absence of fear but being terrified of doing somthing but doing it anyway..

    -L.a.i.r.e

These kind of things are the things that most would condemn and hence call you a nerd or such BUT until they join the battling and swordfighting listen not tho their "naysaying"

P.S i wanna join this too but i doubt Malaysia has LARP groups..

  • Man I wish I could LARP but I can't find any in Arizona, it's all desert so I guess it wouldn't work out well. Anyone know of any groups in or around Phoenix, Arizona, USA?

  • kawanis park north enterencs sundays there is a group called Dagorhir

  • paintball for europeans without compressed air technology or mums and dads who aren't related.

  • Tell me if I'm right or wrong. Can you only play Larp in Germany? I'm just asking.

  • certainly not! pretty much every country has a few Larp groups.

  • I live in Alberta and we have one called Ykingklubben it is a blast

  • Seriously? I wanna join!

  • were would you find an online list of groups. ive been looking with no luck

  • the first thing to do is try the names of different groups ( depending on what kind of larp you are looking for ) and search for them that way but I do know that australia has a large larping community because I saw a video about it

  • Germany is one of the largest larpers per capita. They hold several major events throughout the year with larps whos numbers range into the thousands.

Conquest and Drachenfest are two of the largest.

  • the more we know, heh probably the most fact full comments this video will ever get

  • Call me a nerd all you want this actually looks like a helluva good time.

  • live steel is cooler

  • it's pretty sad.

allot of people i talk to about LARPing automaticly classify it as a "Silly thing" to do. but when i actually explain it for what it is they open up a bit and say "well that could be fun"

people are so concerned with looking silly.

people are so scared of being judged they shut themselves of from so many great experiences.

most people prefer to hide behind their monitors. that's one of the few places they can hide where people can't judge them.

  • But Larping is the same as playing isn't it. Soccer is also play, Halo-xbox is also play. I think this isn't generally accepted yet, you'll get strange looks if you have a slightly to big He Man action figures collection if your age 20+. I hope one day my room full of Transformers won't look silly.

Larping looks and sounds fun, I like sci fi more. Still if it has good rules etc. I've been running around with weapons in nature when I was a kid, but I still think it can be fun at times :)

  • I want to do LARP so bad...But no one around here does it. Sucks

  • Me too- the nearest to me is in surrey, and thats over an hour and a halfs journey away :(

  • LARP is and can be a very awesome experience. You can experience more with LARp then say sitting in front of pc. With the right group and the right atmosphere it is truly mind blowing. I have known some companies in england who have made it truly great.

  • is their a LARP in the UK

  • There are alot if you know where to look. the one featured in the video is a uk larp

  • Yup, try searching for Curious pastimes, Lorien Trust and Maelstrom .

  • @adam123101 several, try googling 'profound decisions' 'skulldugery larp' 'shades larp' 'curious pastimes' or 'lorien trust'

  • omg totally lame but strangely awesome.

  • WTF i know1!!!!

  • if your with the right people and have the right mind set LARPing can be an amazing experience

  • LARP. My friend and I RP... they are all too lazy to actually LARP.

  • Nice video, good depection of larp, i have several larp realated videos on my page, none of the ones i have currently uploaded have such good footage

  • Is this in England? The north? I heard preston a lot, I live there. PM me if it is, I'm interested.

  • does this even exist in america? how would one find it? do you make your own stuff or buy it?

  • Of course, it's big there. Google "[Your area here] LARP events". That's up to you :)

  • honestly, it probably takes more intelligence than sitting in front of a TV with a PS3, or XBOX controller all day. It's the same as yoga, or football, or anything else that someone can develop an interest in.

  • Just a good way of getting excersise imo, but I dont think I would do it =P

  • Wonderful video, and excelent descriptions of what LARP is. LARP is something hard to describe, and in truth one should see what it's all about in person. But the words used to describe it here are the next best thing.

I'm a LARPer myself (though non-combat due to an injury at the moment). I love the combat scenes. They're very well done for a LARP. No one is hitting so hard that they're doing actual damage, but no one's just lightly tapping their opponent. Thats the way a LARP should be done

  • you get fun, friends, fresh air and je move alot. :) beats sitting in chair behind the computer for some game if ya ask me.
