  • wooooooooooow

  • @chimalk ha, this is an very old video! Check out my newer ones :)

  • u got any idea where i could find tabs for the mark king slap solo?

  • @puutarhatonttu hi mate, theres alot of MK solos! I think if you goto the level 42 main website there is a list of books available with tabs, I've never used them, but I seem to remember hearin about them! Good luck finding them :)

  • nice status bass.... always liked the way those sound.

  • @bvdon check out my vids from a few months back, i had a lovely Status series 1 - great bass too!

  • dude some the first stuff you was playing was like jaco p pure madness awesome

  • @kingspam1 check out my latest video, you might like it :) and thanks ever so much for the kind comment

  • you're awesome!!! each time that i see a video of great bass players as you, more I realize I am a disaster :\

  • mate, I'm just a rythmical player! I'm sure you are very good, over the last year I think i've got a bit better since this vid, so just keep playing away, and enjoy it! Just learn from listening to the great players!

  • magga-tronic man, great style . just got awashburn status any prefered settings for the tone&active tuners while slap& popping?

  • wish I had never sold mine! I use very light guage strings (30-85) from my sponsors (see my newer vids for the info) I used to use the middle pick up setting and the tone around half ish, still bright but has some depth. Also a behringer bass limiter/enhanser which acts a compressor and tightens up the sound (very cheap off ebay) and a cheap effects box for chorus/flange etc...

If you want any more info/help, just ask

  • cheers & thanks for taking the time to reply, have only been playing( if you can call it that) for 3 months and people like yourself and others are a real insperation to us newbies and add that extra enthusiasm to our drive to learn. Have a behringer BXL 1800 amp with built in compressor, will have to experiment and see what happens but being of little technical experience it may take a little while. Cheers and thanks again.

  • thats a good interpretation of level42 bass player,,,,,,

do you ever think you will get arround to trying the vocal parts ?

  • Hi mate, did this one a while ago, hopefully I've improved since :)

Vocals aren't my specialty I'm afraid - wish I could sing! I only do that when I'm driving in the car by myself!!

    Cheers for the comment

  • pretty cool, what bass is that?

  • Hi australLord,

Its a washburn-status series 1000, designed by status with status elecs, bulit by washburn. Thanks for the comment, check out my other newer vids too, they are a bit better than this I think :O)

  • Absolutely mind blowing! How do you move your fingers that Fast?! I'll definetly aspire to be that good one day!

  • Cheers! It was all I could do to keep them warm that day as it was freezing in there!! Thanks for the wonderful comment - check out my other vids too :)

  • Hello mate. That's a real nice groove you got going on there, and a nice bass too!

From the title of the vid and the opening riffs, I take it you're a Level 42 fan? At 0:28 I thought you were going to play Foundation & Empire!

I've been a fan of L42 since 1984, and been to see them loads. I saw them last year, and they are still amazing to go and watch, even if we're all a lot older now!! If you ever get the chance, don't pass it by!

Perhaps you should join / start a L42 tribute band!

  • Hi mate,

I'm a huge Level 42/MK fan! There are some better vids of me on here, so feel free to have a look. I've been into them from as far back as I remember, I even remember my dad buying world machine when I was about 8! I've haven't been to see them since 2000, but always want to! I'd love to do a tribute band, though there are some very good ones here in the UK. I've also done a cover (badly!!) of Just Like That on here from a live bootleg I've got, see what you think :)

  • great excuse to warm your fingers ;)

  • too right! Thanks for the comment, check out my other vids too :O)

  • yet again more brilliant playing - why aren't you signed and famous?? :)

  • I wish! Hopefully something will come along soon :)
