I don't think you can play them on lower notes because the're no sub-holes.

pretty sure with songbird ocarinas there arnt sub-holes. i know for mine when i play sharps or flats i just cover half the hole. hope i helped.

The only problem with this oc is you better not drop it. One very useful feature missing from this oc is a hole/fitting for a lanyard. A great thing about ocs is their portability. They are essentially companion instruments and this one looks and sounds great - at home. It would definitely need its own carrying case. Thanks for the post.

@pkneeno Not necessarily, many ocs do not have neck straps... Mine didn't help me, my STL tuned in F broke, even with the neckstrap (dropped when picking up to play)

mine has a small (obviously intentional) hole next to one of the thumb holes, in the groove in a way that it can't be covered by the thumb effectively. is that normal? was that to compensate for the sound being slightly too low when it was made or something?

@Mew0mew0Zoey Quality means cost. I consider it cheap compared to other musical instruments, and it provides the same amount of enjoyment (albeit different kinds) as playing other instruments. Guitars and keyboards and such are the ones that are mass produced and expensive. Not only is this a handmade work of beautiful art, it's also an excellent ocarina.

A cheap ocarina can give you the impression that you're not as good as you really are, because of the ocarina's quality. Well worth the price

If I may suggest getting a less expensive ocarina to see if you like the ocarina. If you think that you will be playing the ocarina a lot and would like to practice with a lot of other ocarinas, I would definately get this one because it is really nice and plays well.

well, the muse is pretty expensive. but so is songbirds 12 hole ocarina (100 dollars) songbird also has a six hole ocarina which is actually the same amount of holes in the game, and you will be able to buy that for around 40 dollars. you will also e able to play a good majority of the zelda songs, and i reccomend it more for new players, or for just playing the on type of song

Well, the only advantage of having two sub-holes is that you can go two half-notes under the tonic. Sharps & Flats can still be played on a 10-hole. Even then, on a 10-hole, most songs could be transposed to where you wouldn't have to go under the tonic at all.

I think it's fake. They would have to kill a LOT of elephants to get as many ocarinas as they make. Its most likely a silicon or plastic that looks and feels like ivory. It's definitely synthetic.

Beautiful. One of the most rich sounding ocarinas I've heard in a while. Not to mention the way it looks! Like zerotech0 said, it does look like an angel's instrument. If it only had like silver swirls or a few (not a lot) silver or gold (preferably silver) gems, jewels, or just stones. It WOULD be an Instrument of an Angel!
