i read rip first and then read batman and son and then read the black glove but thought the whole story was great. I dont think ive ready any better. I pretty much love everything this guy puts out.
i thought batman and son was really good. It might not fully hit you untill youve read all three books but i thought it was extreamly well done. From Batman and son to rip all of it is one story and i think it is one of the best batman story ive ever read. Batman and son is like the first two chapters in the book i thought the way he handled the story with damien was really good and i like the second half even better.
Perhaps, there is a first time for everything, I liked the thing about the Thorgal training, but as you said, perhaps I didnt understand which part includes the 70 year long history or batman other than the League of Heroes. lol
Oh and the Psychological attack? What the hell? New costume = new personality? Get real man
i didnt think heart of hush was that great. i liked the artwork but i didnt think the story was that well done. I read the entire no mans land and it was ok. It had its moments but overall it was pretty generic. Grant Morrisons run is so much more intelligent and creative. Its like meditations on Batman. It shows that he is a man and has weaknesses, in no mans land he fights like 300 guys and isnt even tired. Grant really stays true to what batman is all about.
Did you read the entire NO MANS LAND which consists of about 80+ stories and not just the 5 vols of TP? Bruce wayne clearly states that he CANNOT bring NML to an end alone...he did change his mind and call back his allies. Knightfall also shows Batman as exhausted and he fell from grace. Sure, to give Grant credit, he thought of 3-4 vols of Batman well ahead before started writing on Batman. Tony daniel clearly pushed Grants limit but otherwise, the stories could be just above average.
i just read the tps but that was enought for me, I didnt really c any payoff. I cant get into a story that has a million different writers and artists. NML def suffers from having and good writer and artist here and there and dragging along for much of it. It was good i just thought Morrisons run was more outside of the box and thoughtfull.
Morrison did bring in new elements, but it was pretty average I guess...still its your opinion and I respect that but I stand by my own opinions too ;)
oh yeah, the best way to look at morrison's run is to forget about the "what is continuity and what is not" question. the comics from the silver- and golder-age he references in his work still never happened like they were released. morrison just took that stories and updated them in his sake. while it happened, it only happened in the way morrison shows it in his run, not the way it really happened.
yeah, i love it. it's so amazingly done, he takes things that would seem cheesy to some people, but the way tells it is so incredibly flawless and makes perfect sense. he's such a great writer, and it really makes me sad how people bash him on constant basis because he "destroys" batman. he doesn't destroy him, he makes him interesting again since a gosh darn long time.
it's so wonderful to hear that you liked it. i think it's beautiful, the writing is so clever with so many wnderful silver age hints and the art is (in my opinion) spectacular, changing from campy to oldschool to dark and disturbing. i love it, and it is so underrated since people barely talk about it. it's like people are picking out things they hate on morrison and try to forget something he made in their opinion "good" as fast as possible.
japp, i'm actually refering to the first half (the club of heroes), since i didn't knew that the last comics you mention are in this trade too. i only own the single issues. but the art as well as the story in club of heroes ist brilliant,

I don't think Batman and Son is good. How ever if you intend to read this and RIP you need to read it (or read a synopsis of the events)

uhhh perhaps you dont even know whats the definition of a good batman story, go read:
Knightfall
No Man's Land
One Year Later
Batman and Dracula Trilogy
Paul Dini's and Dustin Nguyen's run on Detective Comics
I've read Grant Morrison's X-men and really enjoyed it, as I did 52..but sorry not Batman. Not this kinda crap
Spawnz1810 2 years ago
I've read all of those. And Grant's run is genious. the only people I've heard that didn't like it don't seem to get it.

well when he talks about the halucinations that's pretty much all of the 50's comics.
Also the whole Zur-en-arh thing comes from older comics too.
blowshimselfupdude 2 years ago
So he's revamping the 50's to the modern world...
Never heard of Zur en Arh in old comics...do you have any specific issues on that matter?
Spawnz1810 2 years ago
I don't have any specific issues. But basicly he was originally a Batman from another world.

@Spawnz1810 In (The greatest joker stories ever told-TP) Zur en Arh first appearence is in there...Really hokey costume...lol...

I liek how he adresses the silver age stories as happening. But not exaclty as we think of them as happening.

I love the art in the first half. It's so unique. The second half is mor elike standered art but it's also very good.
